Why Microsoft CRM

Posted: 08 Mar 2005 08:42 PM PST

Also, to be fair: CRM does have its drawbacks (read this newsgroup or my blog
for a dose) and there is a learning curve to become proficient with CRM. But,
on balance, I like knowing that Microsoft is going to put their weight behind
CRM and make their mark on the crm marketplace...

Adding an Account with CRMAccount

Posted: 08 Mar 2005 02:37 PM PST

Eric,
Thank you for your helpful reply. This did resolve the question for me
although I did find another problem as well: I also had a space after the ">
" in ownerid, the effect being to add a space before the curly bracket. This
generated an item id error (which is why it did not work when I tried
removing the \ previously). Removing the space has it working nicely.
Your help is appreciated.

The CRM Server is also the CRM Server. I can ping the CRM Server on a VPN
Connection, but if i ping a "CNAME" registered in the DNS Server such "crm"
or "companyweb" i received the message "could not find host crm"

Email setup in MSCRM

Posted: 07 Mar 2005 05:18 PM PST

Glad to hear you got it working. I think there have been some threads on this
newsgroup about other people trying to get internal email working, but I
don't think there is any reliable way to do this in 1.2.

link to lead in email workflow

Posted: 07 Mar 2005 02:53 PM PST

Hi everyone,

Have a similar question. Am new to workflows and sales processes and just
doing my first ones. In a workflow or sales process I have it send a new
e-mail when a new lead is created or a new opportunity is created to a
manager. How can I have it, in the e-mail, somehow have a hyperlink or some
way to link back to the original one so they can view it?

Thanks!

Initial report load takes a while

keep in mind that in general and no matter how fast your hardware, reporting
is always...well lets just say sluggish :-)

while you can use parameters to reduce the data set even these have
limitations. Currently there is a bug that means you can only add 50 items
to a parameter drop down. For instance you might want to have a drop to
which lists all your users, you would then choose a user and report on them.
The issue today is you could only put 50 items in the parameter list.

badly need some help on CRM customization

I can recommend Axonom and their Powertrak toolkit. We have used it for
several large scale implementations

Its most unlike them not to reply to an email. I will send you an email
address for you to try again : )

There is an unsupported way to rename business units. Use this at your own risk
and make sure you have good backups of your database & AD strucuture before
doing this:

1) Using Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager, you can edit the value in the XXX
table.

2) Then, you need to rename the corresponding OU in Active Directory to match
the new name.

Businesses are reorging all the time. With Microsoft CRM 1.2, you cannot

would be very easy to add.

Thank you very much Matt. Is it possible to buy only 2 licenses for the
managers who want to run this reports. Is there any work around?

After you publish the changes. You (or an admin) need to stop and start the
web service. Your fields will then show up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I just check it out briefly but it appears to be a bull's-eye.
I need to confirm functionality for customization of forms, views, and
reports based on the many-to-many relationships.

CRM Contacts - Sales for Outlook Client

Posted: 04 Mar 2005 09:06 PM PST

>From talking to our support vendor, this issue is due to security
settings within CRM. It appears that with Contacts, it will import ALL
the contacts that the user has security rights to see. That section
under Tools/Options is labeled Contacts, where the other two ar titled
MY Appointments and MY Tasks. The workaround that I have come up with
to address is to temporarily modify the user/group security settings,
check and sync, and uncheck prior to resetting security. Will follow up
after implementation on the success of this. Seems like it would work,
but certainly a pain. Anyone have other ideas on this, or reasons why
the workaround might fail?

Thanks,
Scott
