Public Folder Replication through Firewalls Posted: 25 Jul 2006 02:12 PM PDT The firewalls are between all of the three servers because they are WAN connections in three different cities across the country. What would you suggest is the right security? "Mark Arnold [MVP]" wrote: |
Posted: 25 Jul 2006 01:51 PM PDT Thanks. It is Exchange 2003 - typo. We are looking at a seperate spam solution and leaving our AV for AV only. "Martin Blackstone - MVP" wrote: |
Posted: 25 Jul 2006 07:23 AM PDT I'm just going to throw this out because I honestly have no idea, but have you checked the regional settings in the CP on the OWA server? "Jeremy D" <Jeremy microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |

The Associates simply send to the moderator and away you go. I'm not interested in arguing the point since you've already got the thing. Oh, you've finished. Goodness me that was long. I can tell you something here. You absolutley do not need Exchange for what you want to do. A contact management solution would be the right thing here, receiving mails, and having the PA process them. However, in Outlook that's a 5 second job by creating a view that shows all 11 required inboxes. You can, yes, at a glance, see an increase in the unread count and thereby glean the details. Indeed, which is why Exchange isn't the product you need. Now, since you've got the product you're going to have to manage with it or alternatively cut your loss and research for the aforementioned contact management package. Last time I saw this was a long time ago and Goldmine was the product de-rigeur. All the other times I've encountered it the customer has been more than willing to sacrifice some functionality to keep the superior messaging and calendaring within Exchange. And in most cases I've shown that everything the IT Admins and Business Managers are trying to do can be circumvented within seconds and therefore the best thing to do is to create policies, implement archiving solutions (for later investigations if required) and to manage by exception. If someone asked me to give you a solution based on those requirements I'd just say no, simply because your technology stipulations don't match a real business case. Trust me, I understand exactly what you want to do, it's not uncommon. However you do seem uniquely wedded to what you are currently doing at the expense of what would be a much better way of working. |
multiple email addresses in one one OWA user Posted: 24 Jul 2006 06:18 PM PDT In news:googlegroups.com, ca <ca> typed: It isn't backwards, but it is inconsistent - this is not surprising as they are not the same product. OWA has never had all of Outlook's features, although it's a lot closer than it used to be. |
Posted: 24 Jul 2006 01:59 PM PDT Also message tracking, see if mail is still flowing through that server once you have migrated all your connectors off in addition to checking some perfmon counters. There are also a number of other things to look for such as if BH is also hosting FB or OAB for all sites. James Chong MCSE + Messaging, MCTS msexchangetips.blogspot.com James Chong seth wrote: |

Posted: 24 Jul 2006 03:54 AM PDT Thanks Lanwench, Yes I am using SBS - and thanks for confirming it can't do this. The reason that I am reluctant to just switch in one "hop" is that I have a large number of people accessing this email account from different locations. Many of these people are not very good with their machines, but utterly dependent on their email :-) Basically, I am aware that they will need my support to reconfigure email, and a weekend just isn't enough time - thought it would be great to temporarily keep the old pop3 running whilst Exchange just "mirrored" the email, but if it's not going to happen it's not going to happen! Thanks very much anyway! Ben. "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" <donotsendme.unsolicitedmail.atyahoo.com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |
