How to switch columns to add text in a works document? Posted: 25 Jun 2009 12:04 PM PDT Hi Ken: I understand what you are saying but it doesn't answer my question. To explain why I needed the 2 columns- I had to proofread a document on my sheet I had to write the wrong text and in the column on the other side I had to put the correction along with my justification for the change. Hence, the other column, so the reader to cross over to the other column and to make it easier to read. My question is once I have written in the left hand column how do I get the cursor over into the other column? Thanks marcianna74 "Ken" wrote: |

Posted: 22 Jun 2009 11:52 AM PDT If you haven't tried it already, you might try rebooting the machine and trying it again. That's the easiest way to ensure that no other Works programs have any sort of lock on the file. "sheila jones" <net> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |
Posted: 21 Jun 2009 05:09 PM PDT You might try saving it to a different location (desktop, thumb drive, etc) and/or saving it to a different file name. You didn't mention if you were saving it from the word processor, spreadsheet, or database, but I've seen cases where having a special character in the file name could sometimes cause problems. --DaveLovesTrains "sheila jones" <net> wrote in message news:eL#phx.gbl... |

Posted: 20 Jun 2009 04:47 PM PDT Often large scale documents will not copy and paste from one program to another because of formatting issues. For example, to copy the contents of a large Word file to WordPerfect or other word processing may produce the very same message box that you received. Try copying to the notepad first and then paste the ASCII textfrom there to your new program. This erases all formatting, good, bad or indifferent and allows the new program to accept the article as a new document. Microsoft Word 2007 has partially solved this problem by including "Compatibility mode" that will allow the importation of just about any file from any word processor, including Works, wordPerfect . I hope this helps. A secondary situation may ocurr if your PC does not have enough free RAM to support such a large copy/paste operation. Since ASCII files are so small, however, I would highly encourage the temporary use of notepad or Wordpad "Ken" wrote: |
Posted: 16 Jun 2009 01:34 AM PDT And try to do also the following: Immediately after opening database file 1. choose menu "View" -> "Report" 2. In the dialog box press "Preview" button My Works 9 switches to "Change" instead of "Preview" but if I try it again all bugs disappear and the program works perfectly . "RockBandNut" wrote: |
Works 9 missing database function? Posted: 13 Jun 2009 05:53 PM PDT CHOOSE is still available, despite being AWOL in Works Database Help, and is still in the form of: CHOOSE(Choice, Option0, Option1,...) Refer to Works Spreadsheet Help if you need more info. The day Works dumps CHOOSE is the day I dump Works. "sandgrounder" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |

Posted: 11 Jun 2009 12:26 PM PDT Hi again RBN, I think you're correct about it being a coincidence that I started having trouble with the Works Calendar right after the update. There were 10 updates from Microsoft at that time, including the one for Works. I had problems with the Works Calendar back in April and finally managed to get it going again at that time. I've pretty much decided that I don't want to keep trying to figure it out this time because it might just happen again--then it would be the same aggravation one more time. I might mention that the Vueminder calendar, which I found on CNET, has been updated already while I've been using it on trial. I'm further impressed! Thanks for your help. "RockBandNut" wrote: |

Print a list of shortcut keys On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Macros. In the Macros in box, click Word commands. In the Macro name box, click ListCommands. Click Run. In the List Commands dialog box, click Current menu and keyboard settings. On the File menu, click Print.
