While Microsoft CRM does not allow you to add relationships there is a
product from www.c360.com which allows you to model relationships. Here is
the link

Yep.

The reason being that each database has everything in it anyway. All that
is stopping users viewing the extra functionality is the license.

Getting Contacts from CRM with Word VBA

Posted: 09 Nov 2004 01:26 AM PST

Calling the core CRM API's from VBA will be difficult as they would need a .Net
wrapper. There are some COM-based API's., but they are not documented very
well.

If all you need is to retrieve data, you can always query directly against the
database, but remember that this will bypass the data security of the
application.

Hi,

I am new to Microsoft CRM, so I don't know if this is possible.

Is there a way to get Contacts from Microsoft CRM from Word VBA? If so, do I
need DLL's or do I need to get into the SQL Server database to get them? The
best method would be to kinda ask CRM for what I want, and it gives it to
me.

Any pointers?

Ronald

Customising Tabs

Posted: 08 Nov 2004 11:54 PM PST

Yes you can add new fields directly to the schema manager thus creating the
exact fields you need.
Remember to 'publish' after you have added the fields and modified the
forms/tabs/etc.

You'd probably be best using "Territories" from a reporting perspective
(I.e. one for each Geographic area).
If you take this approach to start with you can always create BU's later and
more the users into them if you find you need to separate them out.

Teams is more used for when you have a more complicated organisational
hierarchy with a higher level of security, where you want the capability of
people who do not actually work in the same BU to be able to share 'common'
information with a team.
Guy.

Are there any recommended training books on Microsoft CRM?

Posted: 08 Nov 2004 02:28 PM PST

For information about training content see
http://www.microsoft.com/BusinessSolutions/Training.aspx

There are classroom and e-learning courses for :
- Application Professional
- Installation and Configuration
- Customization
- Integration to Great Plains (online training will be available in the
Nov/Dec timeframe)

Not only do these courses prepare you for their corresponding certification
exam (with the exception of the Integration class, which does not currently
have a cert exam), they will also help accelerate your ability to use or
implement Microsoft CRM. Training manuals are provided with classroom
training and can be purchased separately if you wish to take the training
online.

There is also a development level classroom training offering called
"Extending Microsoft CRM with .NET".

Hope this helps.

Larry,

Activity Summary from c360 doesn't overwrite anything so removing it is a
simple as removing the entries in ISV.config (or replacing with a backup).

Also, this product is quite mature now - it has been around since version
1.0 of CRM.

You can't change the primary column in a view - you would have to create
your own aspx page to display data not using the primary field.

If you want a "date of latest activity" on any of the primary records this
will also involve some customisation - you may wish to review the contents
of the SDK - available for download.

load all CRM account with c#

Posted: 08 Nov 2004 07:06 AM PST

The SDK documentation has a specific FetchXML example for doing a

"Select * from Accounts".
You need to use something like :
<fetch mapping='logical'><entity name='account'>
<all-attributes/></entity></fetch>

In this connection I have been looking for some more examples of
how to use FetchXML for some complicated queries.
Is there any documentation on these and more details about ColumnSet XML
other
than whatever is given in the SDK docs?

Thanks

Vidya

Is der no other way?
I would likle o try a suppported way to read the data from the CRM.
Reading directly from the SQL Database shouldn't be supported.
If there will be some changes like in version 2 we can't use this stored
procedure.
