Purchasing Office 2008 Home & Student edition online?

Hi Jeff;

H/S is H/S regardless of whether you d/l or buy the box :-) I can appreciate
your hesitation since it isn't explicitly spelled out on the site, though.
For any "official" confirmation, however, you'll have to contact MS
directly:

Cannot open or save office files to USB harddrive on Airport Extreme.

Thanks Bob I will try the combo update.
Another note - I can open the Office files from my PC that is connected to the Airport Extreme with no problems.

Hmmmm, 11.3.9 would be a really old version. Let's be sure you have Office
2004 installed. In applications, does it say Microsoft Office 2004 on the
folder? Often users get confused thinking they can update from Office X to
Office 2004 with an updater.

Updaters require previous updaters. You will first need to update to 11.5.0.
This is a combo updater. This update includes all the improvements that were
released in previous Office 2004 updates. 59mb

Then there are 4 more updaters that must be installed in the correct order
to get to 11.5.4.

See the links on this page for the updaters.

See this link for help understanding the difference between update and
upgrade.

Does this help?

Problems changing folders in "Open"

I called Apple and the Tech Support guy patiently listened to my story, and did see the same thing as we have been seeing in Quicktime. He is reporting it to his tech people.

Have you followed the suggestions here:

To clarify, if your Macs are networked make sure no Office software is
running on *either* when you attempt to update.

Excel dates and years

Posted: 26 Apr 2009 10:34 AM PDT

I think your new approach should work out much better. You can always
concatenate the date information by using formulas on other sheets it order
to present the dates more traditionally in any reporting you have to do.

Additional to Bob G's comments make sure your emaail software is set to send
"Windows friendly attachments" - usually a Preference of MIME/Base 64 or
Apple Double... depends on the program. Also, Zip the files & send the
zipped copy as the attachment.

Unable to Enter New Product Key During Installation of Office 2008

Try installing in a new User. Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User
in Accounts. Give the User Admin privileges.

Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Install
Office.

Just to be sure...

Delete these two files on one of the machines:

~:Library:Preferences:Microsoft:Office 2008:Microsoft Office 2008
Settings.plist

where ~ is your home folder, and

HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2008:Office:OfficePID.plist

When you start an Office app, you'll be asked for a CD Key.

If the above fails, please try the following:

Please delete

\Applications\Microsoft Office 2008 folder
Your User Folder\Library \Preferences\Microsoft\Office 2008
Reinstall Office

AutoUpdater not running in my office

Posted: 22 Apr 2009 01:54 PM PDT

Hi, I'm aware how to download manually but the 14 machines being used in my office are not so easily updated as those staff are not inclined to do that.

The point of having an auto updater is so that it streamlines the process. As Office is designed for businesses using Exchange Server one would think it would be capable of updating from behind a proxy server.

Hopefully someone else will be able to provide an answer.
Thanks
