Works Personal Templates

Posted: 16 Sep 2005 08:31 AM PDT

Re: BTW, you will still find them listed in personal templates, however when
you click on them Works offers to delete them from the list. That works OK.

Hi N,

Good information.

On my system if I delete Normal.wpt then start Works Word Processor a new
Normal.wpt is created, of course, it is the original Works template and does
not include any of the changes I made to it.

I actually didn't delete Normal.wpt, renamed it Normal.old, then started
Works Word Processor. A new Normal.wpt was created which I promptly deleted
and renamed Normal.old back to Normal.wpt

Which reminds me to make a new copy of Normal.wpt so my backup is recent.

Thanks,
Ken

Select all the cells you want the formula in and press CTRL-D. You can also
drag a corner of the cell with the formula. Make sure the cursor is a thin
'plus' sign - it will say 'FILL' alongside.

Create list for printing envelopes

Posted: 13 Sep 2005 02:31 PM PDT

Hi,

Perhaps use the Address Book included as an accessory with the Windows
operating system.

From desktop click Start, then Programs, then Accessories, then Address
Book.

After the Address Book opens, follow instructions under Help for adding
contacts (names and addresses).

Close Address Book.

Open Word, start a Mail Merge, during the process you will see "Merge from
the Address Book".

Text runs down the LHS of the field,
numeric to the right.

adjust to suit, by making numeric text, or viccy verca

Works 8 going back to 4.5

Posted: 12 Sep 2005 01:18 PM PDT

Thanks for that. I have found a workaround (I think). If I open the doc in
Word, copy and paste it into Works 4.5 it sems to work. Fortunately I did
not open many docs in Works 8, so hopefully there will not be many problems.
So far there has not been a problem with databases

My new Works 8 Powerpoint Viewer won't open

Posted: 10 Sep 2005 12:17 PM PDT

Hi anonymous,

There is so many reason why a installation fails it is mind boggling.

My suggestion is to try installing using a clean boot.

As you have already installed I suggest you follow this webpage which
describes how to use cleanup prior to a clean boot installation....

http://support.gateway.com/s/SOFTWARE/MICROSOF/sHARED/7513181faq24.shtml

For your information...

Most applications provide a free viewer to those who do not have there
software.

Adobe Acrobat.. http://www.adobe.com/

Microsoft PowerPoint... http://www.microsoft.com/office/000/viewers.asp

PowerPoint Viewer..

Thank you. I spent 3 hours and finally got it working, the thread said to do
the add feature and then add certain aspects of the download, it never said
that the files I needed were in tools and not under word. I finally got smart
enough after going back through it and finding it myself, thanks MS.

Thank you also Garfield-n-odie. I shall bookmark the other link for futire
reference.

It's beyond Works' capabilities, but it's a dangerous idea anyway. I'm happy
to find duplicates and look before I delete.
