Making labels

Posted: 04 Sep 2004 08:55 AM PDT

Hi Margo,

Perhaps this video helps to show how such things are achieved ?

How to perform a mail merge in Works 7.0
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=832797

In Works word processor, Tools>Labels mail merge,
choose the Address Book as the data source.

Another option may be to use the Task Launcher option to create
labels using Picture It! (Photo Premium 9 in Works 8).

Reload the sheet to mail merge the text (Addresses).

Why did you Zip your resume theirs no need to. Just save
it to floppy or CD-R/RW. XP has its own Zip utility
built int you should be able to just click on the file
and XP should open it. Or you will need WinZip at
www.winzip.com. You don't really need to zip Works or
Word files.

Works won't print

Posted: 01 Sep 2004 05:39 PM PDT

Thank you for your suggestion, but the only drivers
available are on the XP disk.
Older printers are considered dead, so no updates
available for XP!
We just wondered why the printer works with WordPerfect 12
but not the Works 7.0 or Works 2000.
Tech support @ Windows doesn't have a clue either.
Suggested new printer.

Works 6.0 Problems after Installing SP2

Posted: 01 Sep 2004 07:44 AM PDT

Barry, I have read where SP2 can cause problems with a number of programs,
but haven't heard of anyone else having problems with Works. Never the less
it is not uncommon for MS to issue a patch that fixes one problem, only to
create another. Some advise waiting for MS to work out the bugs before
applying any new patch because of this. Here is a link that might give you
insight as to why you are having problems even though Works is not listed.
Hope this helps. DavidF

Finding & Deleting a Personal Template in Works 7

Outlook 2002 to Works 7

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 06:28 PM PDT

Hi Irish,

Perhaps,

In Outlook, use the File Import and Export wizard to output
to a file.

Choose Comma Separated Values (CSV)

Works Address Book has the import option to import
Other Address Book. Thereafter choose Text file (CSV).

Works 7.0: Restrict app to use one spreadsheet at a time

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 05:15 AM PDT

Rob, If I understand your question correctly, this is one of the
'improvements' of the versions since 4.5. In 4.5 you could open multiple
files under one instance of Works, while the new versions require separate
instances of Works. Don't throw away your copy of 4.5 as you may find that
generally 4.5 was the best version of Works...especially with merging from
the database. DavidF

Works 7.0: Save As... keep exisiting file name

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 05:13 AM PDT

Hi Rob,

Perhaps keep a .txt file on your Desktop, open at the start of a session
and retain on the Taskbar.

The contents of this file is the name of the file you wish to save, or part
thereof.

Copy and paste into the dialog box, amending as and when required.

Also, keystroke recorders/macro recorders can do the same thing for
you at a single key press.

Works Calendar 8 stalls on start

Posted: 30 Aug 2004 06:38 PM PDT

Hi Mike,

Perhaps replace the MsWksCal.wcd file with a fresh copy from
the Works CD, unchecking the Read-Only option, found on the
file>right/click>properties dialog box.

Before proceeding, save a copy of current file as MsWksCal.Old.

If it is possible, can you post that file to me, assuming it is not full
of private and confidential/personal appointments etc. I can then
investigate the cause of the problem for you.

Now, having saved a renamed copy of the previous file, you may
proceed as follows:

1. Insert the Works installation disc, and then press SHIFT to
prevent Setup from starting.

Note If Setup starts, exit Setup.

2. On the desktop, double-click My Computer.

3. Locate the Mswkscal.wcd file on the Works CD.

The default location of the Mswkscal.wcd file on the Works CD:

drive :\MSWorks\Common\CommApp\mswkscal.wcd

where drive is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive.

4. Select the Mswkscal.wcd file, and then press CTRL+C to copy
the file to the Clipboard.

5. Locate the file MsWksCal.wcd on your hard disk.

the default location of the MsWksCal.wcd file on the hard disk is in the
following locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Works

NOTE: The Application Data folder is hidden by default. Go to
Tools->Folder Options->View->Show Hidden files and folders

6. When you have located the Mswkscal.wcd file on your hard disk, select
the file, and then press CTRL+V to replace the file with the version
that you copied from the Works CD-ROM.

Note When you are prompted with the question, "Are sure that you want
to over-write the file", click Yes.

7. Make sure that the new version of Mswkscal.wcd is not read-only: Use
Windows Explorer to locate the file, right-click it, click Properties,
and then clear the Read-only check box.

Restart Calendar.
