PLS ADVISE REGARDING MERGING LEADS

Posted: 16 Nov 2005 02:21 PM PST

John,

I suspect Elizabath has c360 SearchPac - we also have this and it has a tool
named "Multi Field Search" and also a tool for merging records. But you
still dont get an "unmerge" tool as it deletes the one of the records when
the merge is done!

Emailing Routing in Mixed Environment

Posted: 16 Nov 2005 06:16 AM PST

I'm confused about your setup. Are you saying your users have 2 mailboxes?
If so, that is your real problem (that and the fact that Exchange 5.5 is
unsupported with the app). Thos users whould only have a mailbox on the
2003 server and it should work.

We are setting up CRM 1.2 in a mixed NT4 (Exchange 5.5) and AD (Exchange
2003) environment. I need a little help setting up the email routing.

I set it up according to scenario 2 (page 72 of the Implementation Guide)
which involves a separate subdomain for the CRM Exchange server.

Here is the behavior as indicated on page 75:

In each of these scenarios, Microsoft CRM users and queues send messages
from the Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 server by using the Microsoft CRM
subdomain (adventure-works.com). Replies to these messages are
handled in one of two ways:

* If the reply message is to a Microsoft CRM user, the message is forwarded
to the Exchange 5.5 organization and appears in the Microsoft CRM user's
Exchange 5.5 mailbox. Because the Microsoft CRM user is not an Active
Directory user, no Microsoft CRM e-mail activity event will be created on
the
Microsoft CRM server by the Router.

* If the reply message is to a Microsoft CRM queue, the message is accepted
by Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 and delivered to the mailbox of the
Microsoft CRM queue on Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003. An e-mail event is
posted to the Microsoft CRM server by the Router.

Is there any way to have the best of both worlds and allow replies to users
appear as email events and also route back to the Exchange 5.5 server?

What we don't want is to have the CRM users be forced to check two
mailboxes: their primary Exch 5.5 and the new Exch 2003.

If not, is it common practice to set up all users as queues in this type of
coexistence setup?

Thanks in advance!!

Manual Workflow Policies

There is a privilege that is tied to Process Instances, but I am pretty sure
that if remove the right to create these the user will not be able to run
ANY workflow, even the automatic ones.

Technet is a great place to get started learning about CRM. Try this link:

Just click on the version you are using (technet has info on 1.0 and 1.2

Good luck.

1.2 & 3.0 on partitioned system?

The 2 versions share some common regisstry keys, so you cannot have both app
servers unning on the same IIS machine. You could leverage the same SQL
machine though as 3.0 allows you to provide your own Org Name so the DB's
would not conflict.

However, I would be careful if this is a long-term solution as that would
most certainly violate your EULA and would ultimately cause a whole boatload
of issues with your users who don't know which one they entered their data
in.

Please help: Deployment Manager fails

Posted: 15 Nov 2005 07:20 AM PST

Microsoft was able to fix the issue. The users had a Backup Admin role
but there was another role for just the normal Admin in CRM. This role
didn't show up in CRM as an option so the rep has to go into the
database and copy the key manually to the users that needed permissions
for Deployment Manager.

Need to dumb down CRM 1.2

Posted: 14 Nov 2005 03:03 PM PST

Bobby,
You can do some of what you want by changing role privileges, as John
said, but I think you'll be much better off to wait a month and upgrade
to 3.0 than trying to do (some, like removing workplace, unsupported)
changes to 1.2. In 3.0, you can modify the site map to achieve what
you are asking for here. HTH,

CRM Queue's

The problem is that the router intercepts the SMTP traffic at the gateway,
not at the messagebox. So, it is looking at it prior to the alias being
resolved to point to the common mailbox. When it looks at the messages sent
to the alias, the email address isn't recognized so it is ignored.

This will change in v3.0 as in that version, the processing is done at the
mailbox.

Items included in Navigation - Headings that shouldn't be

Posted: 06 Apr 2015 03:02 PM PDT

We are just upgrading to 2013 and I'm starting to appreciate the Navigation bar but with one exception. The list of Headings in the Navigation pane includes Heading 1, Heading 2, ... which I want, but it also includes a bunch of other items. For example some, but not all, of the captions. Also, again, some but not all, one line paragraphs. As far as I can tell the "Caption" style is applied to the captions and "Normal" is applied to all of the paragraph text. These are hundreds of page long technical reports with dozens of figures and tables, so cleaning up the navigation to just include the section heading would make it much easier to navigate. So the bottom line is is there a way to distinguish what is included in the Navigation pane?

(Note, these reports were written in an earlier version of Word)

Thanks,

Dan

White Type Defined in Style Shows Gray

Posted: 06 Apr 2015 12:52 PM PDT

Using Word 2010 (Windows 7), I have defined a style using White as the type color, but it appears as gray. After applying the style to the appropriate text, I have to the highlight the type, apply color white from the Home tab/Font and then when I open the file again, the type has changed back to gray. How can I define this style so that the type always shows as white (even in the Styles window where it also appears as gray)?

Creating monthly reports in Word using data from Excel

Posted: 06 Apr 2015 11:15 AM PDT

I would like to create a report from a personal excel database I am keeping.  For example in excel I would have something like the following:

Job Name       Job description      Job Number      Job Status

Clean              The bathroom        5                        Active

Mow               The Lawn                7                        Pending

Wash              Clothes                   10                      Closed

Then in Word I would like to make it dynamic so that if, for example the job status changes to Active then my report comes out in the following format:

For your information, my current jobs are as follows;

<job name, active> <job description, active> which is job number <job number, active>

The jobs I have pending are as follows:

<job name, pending> <job description, pending> which is job number <job number, pending>

and I have closed the following jobs:

<job name, closed> <job description, closed> which is job number <job number, closed>

The basic idea is that I can go through and update my spreadsheet as needed and when I need to have a report completed then it will be automatic.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Why is MS Word 2013 acting up?

Posted: 05 Apr 2015 04:19 PM PDT

My copy of MS Word is part of the MS Office Professional Plus 2013 package. Lately it's been acting strangely.

Whenever I open the program, or a document within the program (even when starting a new document), the cursor starts rapidly flashing, from the arrow to the circular...process indicator?...and back. It does this incessantly, as if something is going on in the background.

I don't recall this ever happening before recently, and it may or may not have coincided with my installation of Dragon Naturally Speaking. However, the cursor acts up even when Dragon isn't running.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

How can I recover missing text!

Posted: 05 Apr 2015 11:34 AM PDT

I was typing a word document (Office 2003) on my old Windows XP 2002, which I made sure to save every few minutes, when somehow I hit the mouse and the  pages of text were gone! The document is still on the desktop (and comes up when searching for files) and notes the date and time last modified and the 23.5 KB size, but there is just one blank page when it is opened. Is there any way to recover the text or is it lost forever and I will have to recreate two days of lost work? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Missing clipart

Split from this thread.

I am having the same issue.  I started out with clip art on 2010, but then a few weeks ago it just disappeared.  I thought it was work getting rid of excess distractions, but maybe that's not the case.  I want my darn clip art back.  The only check box I have to select is "Include Bing content" and even if I put the subject I'm looking for and "clip art" I'm either getting crappy clip art or some really scary things.

Rotate word 2007 text

Posted: 05 Apr 2015 09:59 AM PDT

I would like to rotate the text in my word 2007 document 90 degrees.  This way I can print two 5X8 pages on one 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper.  I do not want to go the route of turning it into a jpeg.  Landscape setting does not accomplish this either.  Any ideas?  TY

Resetting/Applying quick styles to several documents simultaneously

Posted: 05 Apr 2015 07:19 AM PDT

I created and/or modified a few custom quick styles in the normal template, and I wish to apply the changes/additions to not only any subsequently created documents (which is possible through checking "New documents based on this template" in the Modify Style window), but also to all existing documents based on this template (and applying the changes to their contents at the same time), of which I have many (as in, over a hundred, all across a complicated tree of folders and subfolders). Is this possible to do without resorting to manually opening each of those 100+ files and selecting "Change Styles > Style Set > Reset to Quick Styles from Template" then saving the file, over and over again?

Line Spacing at a specific point in a document - issue with bullet lists

Posted: 05 Apr 2015 02:25 AM PDT

Hello,

I know how to create unique line spacing for one line: Paragraph>>Line Spacing>>Multiple, etc: HOWEVER, when attempting to create spacing after a bulleted list, in which the final listed item is more than one line, the line spacing ALSO applies itself between the lines of the multi-lined bulleted item.

Visual Example:

Dan's List

  • I went to the store
  • I went home
  • This next bullet is two lines, any spacing I specify to go after the 2nd line of this bullet also applies itself between the two lines of this bullet item.

Next sentence continues here.

Please help me apply spacing to only what is below the 2nd line of the final bullet item, thanks!

Getting error "Word couldn't create the work file. Check the environment variable." in Word 2007

Posted: 04 Apr 2015 11:58 PM PDT

Hi,

I'm getting this error "Word couldn't create the work file. Check the environment variable." while opening a Word document in MS Word 2007. Also, I'm getting another error "There was a problem sending the command to program." I've attached the screenshots.

How can I fix this?

Hello,

I have read a few threads on this error, but it seems recovery requests are not posted in the older threads.

I have a file with this error, and I am building an understanding that there is something wrong with the formatting, but I lack the sophistication to fix it myself.

Here it is on google docs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7kJf3HSmvwYY29FY1dDaThwR2M/view?usp=sharing

Any help that prevents me from re-doing the work will be appreciated. Also, is there anything I can do to prevent this error?

Thank you,

Lisa

Blank page being inserted before the current page, not after. How do I fix?

Posted: 03 Apr 2015 07:54 PM PDT

I am working with Word 2013.

I'm not sure what I did but when I went to insert a blank page, the page was inserted before the page I was working on instead of after.  For example I was working on page 2, went to insert a blank page expecting it to be page 3 but it became the new page 2. I have no idea why, all of a sudden, it is doing this. When I was working on documents earlier, it did not do this so it is a bit frustrating.

There is a section break between two pages but I don't recall doing anything out of the ordinary to change the settings.

Office365 vs. Office 2013

Posted: 03 Apr 2015 04:38 PM PDT

While I know the difference between the two products, I still have a design question.  I currently teach computer classes for older adults and this question has come up many times.  The computers we teach on have Office 2013 installed, but some of my clients have Office365.  Am I correct in stating that there is no design difference between the two?  The way I show them to do it in office 2013 will be the same way they do it on Office 365?

Enter AutoTextList field

Posted: 03 Apr 2015 03:41 PM PDT

I'm totally stumped on creating an AutoTextList field. I'm using Word 2010 on XP for a large law firm with many auto text entries. Here's my problem:

- I choose Insert > Quick Parts > Field > AutoTextList.

- I enter Name under Field Properties > New value. The goal is to be able to choose from a series of initials, and then the user's full name fills in (which is why I call the field "Name").

- If this is all I do, then right clicking on the Name field displays a list of ALL the AutoText entries for the firm. I want this list to only display certain AutoText entries that start with x. For instance, xLCP.

- I understand that this is supposed to somehow be related to Styles. I read that you will only see AutoText entries that correspond with the style of the document that you put the field in, which is what I've done. In documents where this field works correctly, it's Normal style and I have it in Normal style in my new document.

- The AutoText entries are located in a Menu.dot file which I have located. The entries in that template are also in Normal style.

I have an example of a document that has this field showing up correctly. The field is called "Name", and when I right click I only see a specific list of options (all in the same format, xLCP, xRCC, xTJU, etc). So I know this is possible. Essentially I have two questions:

How do I narrow down the list of AutoText options I choose from when I right click the field?

How do I see how an existing field entry is coded? Like I said, I have a document with this field entered correctly, so if I could just see how that field was set up then I would know how to recreate it.

Any  help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Leah Peabbles

How can I disable MS Document Imaging?

Posted: 06 Mar 2009 06:57 AM PST

I would go to the Programs area of Control Panel, open the Office XP "Add or
Remove Features" area and change the feature state of "Microsoft Office
Doent Imaging" under the Office Tools tree to Not Available. That should
restore file associations as well.

How to add & save a new font color in Word 2007

Posted: 03 Mar 2009 07:22 PM PST

Milly -

The color is:
RGB
Red 0
Green 0
Blue 225

(if that helps- I don't know if it has name).

Oh and why does a (saved) Word doent take so long to open?
Opening up Word it self is quick, but when I create a doent, then open it
later it takes 30 seconds or so to open.

Thx.

Where do you get that info from? You cannot do that.If the OP got this from school
then it is most probably a Office Enterprise which needs to be installed. It is a
Volume License Edition which Educational Institutions,Companies and the US Armed
Services are selling through their Home Program

possible bug

Posted: 02 Mar 2009 03:26 PM PST

This is a charity open licensed version of office 2007 pro plus. I have
upgraded 40 computers, and all 4 that had office 2002 with outlook 2003 all
had this same problem. the other machines had only office 2003 and I had no
problems with those.
Leroy: I did not receive any error messages during the install, and i was
running the install as local admin, so there shouldn't be problems with user
rights..

Double check the digits. Bs and 8s look alike, Ds and Os or 0s.

Hi

I Don't think you did right thing by renaming that file. Rename it back to
whatever it was.
Ofice 12 has a new feature, that is, it repairs itself as Ofice setup files
will always be there.

To fix your issue
start > run >
and just type this 1 at a time
reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Option s /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1
reg add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\Opt ions /v NoReReg /t
REG_DWORD /d 1.

The stdole32.tlb problem with XL will still b there.
to fix that, make XL unavailable and available.
