Office 2007 Upgrade won't recognise previous version Posted: 19 Feb 2008 04:45 AM PST Hello Penny I am having similar problems and would appreciate an answer. Some background of my case: Outlook keeps crashing Tried to use repair from control panel, add/remove programs - it says "product installation is corrupted, reinstall". If I try and reinstall, I have same issue as you, it comes up with "the path you have chosen does not have a qualifying upgradeable product". I have tried office 2003, XP and 200 CDs and even tried installing works 7.0. It neither recognizes the CDs nor the installations. I found a Knowledge Base article giving the details that Carey gave, but this does not reflect exactly what I see eg: Enter the product key and click OK - I only see a continue box In the Product Compliance Check CD Key box... I don't see anything that tells me that is what it is called, I get a window that is titled "Locate your earlier version of Microsoft Office". And again no OK box, just a continue. This might seem like pedantry, but it would suggest that what I am seeing is not what is being described. At the moment I am seriously regretting the "upgrade" to 2007 and wondering if I can get a refund for all the copies we bought for our company. Best Regards Ashley "PennyL" wrote: |
Office Trial Activation Trouble Posted: 18 Feb 2008 10:25 PM PST My computer did come with one, but I just got the computer a week ago, and the trial version that came with it worked for about 2 hours, but after I had closed Office and tried to use it again, that trial version gave me exactly the same message even though prior to that it had told me my trial would expire till april. Re-installing Download Posted: 18 Feb 2008 02:36 PM PST I suggest try this link to read what Microsoft has to say about replacement CDs. You will need to speak to somebody at MS and explain to them so that they can help you get replacement CDs for your installed products. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246 Hope this proves useful. Set Default Office Font with GPO ? Posted: 18 Feb 2008 12:54 PM PST Hi Thomas, Not really, there isn't a single setting for that. Each app has its own method for defining default styles and the fonts that go with them, and there are settings for each of these. You haven't mentioned the version of Office you're using. You may want to have a look at the Office Resource Kit (ORK) for the version you're planning to deploy. http://microsoft.com/office/ork ============= <<"Thomas Mann" <de> wrote in message news:com... Re-installation of Office 2003 Posted: 18 Feb 2008 01:36 AM PST No, since this is a migration across versions I would recommend to reconfigure manually. This is a far less painless process than fixing all sorts of weird issues later. You'll need to start with a new pst-file anyway when you want to take advantage of the new UNICODE file format. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "Pheasant Plucker®" <not> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |

Enabling other language in office 2007 Posted: 15 Feb 2008 01:51 PM PST Hi Richie, The F6 key works during the conversion process when the IME is active. Normally F6 in Word is the 'Next pane' accessibility key in Office 2007 ('Other Pane' in Office XP and 2003) and seems to take precedence, but you may want to use the link below to also post in the MS Word International features group. I usually just switch from the IME toolbar after assigning a keyboard shortcut to switch to the Japanese keyboard in Windows control panel as mentioned previously. When switching to a Japanese keyboard that pops the IME toolbar into view. =========== <<"Richie" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... Office 2007 long installs Posted: 15 Feb 2008 12:52 PM PST Hi Kelli, MSP patch files in Office setup aren't supported if you're using GPO deployment. Both types of installation are covered in the Office 2007 resource kit at http://microsoft.com/office/ork If you're using a GPO deployment then the customizations basically take place in the product config.xml files and in the scripting. =========== <<"Kelli" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... Can you explain how you did this? I am trying to get my silent install working without much luck. I have a GP with a startup script for the computer configuration. The Bat file reads: \\server\it\office2007\setup.exe and is located in the correct location within the sysvol folder. I have created the .MSP file and it's located in the \\server\it\office2007\updates\ folder. I have heard of people modifing the XML file but I'm not positive I need to. Installing / Reinstalling / Adding - Office / Media audio Posted: 15 Feb 2008 09:48 AM PST Hi K.C., It's possible that it's a Vista or Media Player rather than Office issue. I'm able to play all of the 19 sounds (many with 'zero' length in Nero Showtime, Windows Media Player and Irfanview as well as when inserted into a Powerpoint 2007 slide. In Irfanview, for example, the shortest actual length is 0.1 seconds for click.wav and arrow.wav while Media Player reports them as 00:00. You may want to check to see what result you get with Irfanview, http://irfanview.com You may want to use the link below to also post this in the MS Office Powerpoint discussion group. ====================== <<"KC" <com> wrote in message news:%phx.gbl... Office 2003: Custom Installation Wizard Settings Will Not Apply Posted: 14 Feb 2008 09:40 PM PST On Feb 15, 9:59pm, "Bob Buckland ?:-\)" <75214.226(At Beautiful Downtown)compuserve.com> wrote: Hi Bob, Thanks for looking at my post and replying. I may have missed some details in my post, due to my frustrations in not being able to put together a relatively simple package. Yes, Terminal Services was installed in Applications Server mode - these servers are going to be part of a Citrix 4.5 farm. Citrix 4.5 has also been installed. My machines are newly built Dell 1955 blade servers. I followed KB311241 closely. This was a fresh install of Office 2003. Again, I chose 'Not Installed, Locked and Hidden' for the components I did not wish to install. I also chose 'Do not migrate previous installation,' even though this was a squeaky clean installation. The command line I used to install the package was: msiexec.exe /i "Z:\OFF11\pro11.msi" /t "Z: \OFF11\CtxOfficeTrans.MST" /qb- BTW, after this installation, if I run the Custom Maintenance Wizard, I can un-install the components that I don't want. However, I would prefer a clean server, hosting cleanly installed apps and no leftover crumbs from un-installed applications. Thanks again, Bob W. |
Office 2007 Reactivation Posted: 14 Feb 2008 03:40 AM PST Thank you for your response. Please accept my apologies for not mentioning that the troubleshooting suggestions contained in KB919895 had already been tried, but much of what is contained in that article did not seem relevant to this issue. The only symptom experienced is that the Activation Wizard fails to start and that no error message is received (as mentioned in OP) However, results obtained were as follows: Method1: The time and date settings on the computer are correct. Method 2: Options>Resources>About reports that the version is Home and Student and that it is licensed. Method 3: Deleting Opa12.dat does not enable the Activation Wizard to start. Method 4: The internet connection is functioning normally. If you are able to make any further suggestions, these will be much appreciated. TIA "garfield-n-odie [MVP]" wrote: |

Enterprise 2007 install problem Posted: 11 Feb 2008 05:09 AM PST Hi Tom, What program did you use to extract from the ISO? There have been problems with, for example, some flavors of Nero. =============== <<"Tom" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... Rebel, I am sorry I cannot help you. I have tried installing from the desktop as well as the CD. My copy is also legit and the files do exist on the installation folders. The program just will not open them and says it is an invalid location. Just curious, did you extract this from an ISO? That is what mine is, and I am wondering if that may be the problem. I have searched everywhere for a solution but can't find anything. Tom >> -- Bob Buckland ?:-) MS Office System Products MVP *Courtesy is not expensive and can pay big dividends* |
