What I want to achieve is that ALL users can access the same URL for webmail

This will also be an issue for me as i have 500 roaming users using

Well I can't really tell you if it's the scan or the power event that cause
the eschange corruption.
The thing is that after the scan, the box crashes. You can't shut it down
from the UI. If you just press the power button once to force a windows
shutdown on the server it won't respond either.
So the only option is to press and hold the power button to turn off the
box.
So it's impossible to determine which causes the problem: the anti virus
<before> crashing the server or the fact that the server has to be rebooted
the hard way.

I did not stick with v6 because these facts tell me that it cannot be
trusted. At this moment I don't feel safe to assume that if I disable
scheduled scans no other problem will pop up.
I am running v5. It works. I've used it before without any major problem.
And it also uses less resources.

Hi,

I think i have SMTP relaying by authenticated users active in virtual

If i desactive the authentication in the client, outlook, i got 550 error,
relay denied and thats ok.

I can telnet throw port 25 from outside.

Could be some problem with router linksys i have? I had some problems with
VPN access, only with dmz to server worked ok, 1723 port open, and some
option to allow VPN throw linksys, and VPN didnt work... when user trying to
authenticate/connect, only with DMZ option on.

I checked options on virtual SMTP server with other SMTP server on other
location, and im almost sure they are equal, the same, one works fine... this
one, when sending email throw outlook, via pop/smtp, receives ok, sending...
appears the msg on bottom of outlook - authenticate - waits, waits.. and
keeps pop up a window asking for user and password and dont authenticate...
and unable to send email.

Online source of information about the bugs in WORD 2013

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 02:21 PM PST

Rather than discover the problems with WORD 2013 one by one, perhaps someone knows of an online source that provides a list of common bugs with WORD 2013 and the work around.

Currently I am having problems with inserting a text box and then not being able to change the border to a double line.

I am sure there are probably other bugs.

I can use the side menu to change the text box border thickness, color etc. But I can choose one of the double line style boarders.

Sooner or later I will figure something regarding this or WORD 2013 has a unfixable bug.

But it would be more efficient to just learn all the problems ahead of time.

For example I have booked marked this page.

http://www.infoworld.com/article/2606393/office-software/85529-12-enraging-Office-2013-flaws-and-how-to-fix-them.html

Surely there are other pages like this to solve Office 2013 problems.

Printing envelopes from MS Word 2007 using a Brother MFC-J470DW

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 01:00 PM PST

I am trying to print a regular sized business envelopes ( approx. 4 1/8" x 9 1/2" and am either getting an error message "The margins of section 1 are set outside the printable area of the page" or it is telling me I have the wrong paper size selected.  I've tried several changes to the envelope size.  I called Brother and they told me it's an issue with the software application.  Although I can print 8 1/2 x 11 sized documents from Word and can also print form the internet.    I purchased this new printer about a month ago and am 99.9% sure I've printed envelopes from the same document I am trying to print from today.  The envelopes printed fine a few weeks ago.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this will be appreciated.

Word 2013 is making huge margins?

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 12:19 PM PST

I have a research paper due tomorrow that needs to be in MLA format. I had my margins set automatically to 1 inch all the way around, but when I finished typing the paper I noticed that on every other page, starting with the very first, the bottom margin gets bumped up to an inch and a half.

I went into the custom margin settings and tried setting them manually but they were still messed up, so I tried setting them to 0.9 inches instead. This didn't help.

Right now I have the bottom margin set to .04 inches and I have to go through my paper and move the lines by pressing enter until I get as close to a 1 inch bottom margin as possible, which isn't very accurate.

I've retyped my paper three times on two different computers and versions of word and this problem will not go away.

I also have page numbers set to .5 inches on the top right of every page in a header. I noticed that when I insert the header word automatically inserts a footer as well, and when I click "delete footer" it only deletes the sample text in the footer and not the actual footer itself. I don't know if this has anything to do with my margin problems but I thought I'd make a note of it just in case.

Please help!

Adjusting Margins within a Label Template

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 12:00 PM PST

I mail merged my Contacts into the template for Avery 5385 (Rolodex Cards) and am planning to print them on my HP Envy printer.  The format of the template is two cards across, and four down --- 8 per page.  I have 12 pages to print.

Problem: The left Margin on each column of labels (cards) is too close to the cut line for the card.

Question:  How do I adjust the margins to "push" all the content a space to the right?

Considerations:  Had I known this problem existed when I did the merge, I could have easily handled it in the way I formatted the data to flow into the template.  However, it didn't occur to me this would be a problem.  After the data was merged, I also (VERY LABORIOUSLY!) inserted a picture on each card.  There is no going back now --- I can't (won't) do another mail merge because it would require me to go back and insert all those pictures again.  So I must work from the merged data in the document as it sits.

Obviously, I could go through and manually insert space(s) in front of each line of text on each card.  But I am hoping there is a quick and easy way just to adjust the margins on each column of cards.

Extracting commandbar FaceIDs for use as image in an image control

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 11:26 AM PST

I've figured out how to extract both the PICTURE and MASK properties of the FaceId of any of the Office commandbar controls, and save those two properties as images on my computer.

        Set ctrl = CommandBars.FindControl(Id:=rs!FaceId)
        stdole.SavePicture ctrl.Picture, "E:\TempPic.bmp"
        stdole.SavePicture ctrl.Mask, "E:\TempMask.bmp"

But what I want to do is create an image picker that displays a set of these images in a form, either in an image control or as the picture property of a command button.  Unfortunately, neither the image control or the command button has a Mask property, so the background of all of the picture images are black, rather than what they are supposed to be.  The attached image shows the first 15 faceIDs, with the top row displaying the image saved with the PICTURE property and the bottom row showing the image created with the MASK property.

Is there a way to combine these to properties, or to save the image as a gif or other image type, which can then be assigned to the PICTURE property of an image control or a command button?

WORD 2013 won't print labels

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 06:04 AM PST

I have Windows 8.1 and I went to printout out some labels and it won't print them. The print icon comes on for a few seconds and then the whole print job disappears.

I had just printed out some other material that wasn't labels. Now I need labels to do a mailing and WORD isn't working.

I had everything working on Windows 7 my older versions of Word.

The printer is HP Officejet Pro 8100.

Also, it is turned on, and the cable is in. I had just printed out some WORD documents.

I had a working version of everything, now I am living in Windows 8.1 bug land.

I doubt it is the printer and really won't be entertaining suggestions that it is. It is something wrong with the WORD or Windows 8.1.

Creating Paragraph Breaks within Conditional Field Codes

Posted: 08 Nov 2014 06:04 PM PST

I'm trying to create a sequential list using field codes and mail merge. My problem is that certain items do not need to appear on the list, depending on how the mail merge goes. This is confusing, so I will give an example.

Let's say I'm putting together a list of quantities for various fruits. I've got a mail merge document that tells me how many apples, oranges, and pears I have. So the list might look like:

1. There are 32 apples.

2. There are 27 oranges.

3. There are 3 pears.

Using field codes it looks more like:

(SEQ list1) There are (MERGEFIELD "Apples") apples.

(SEQ list1) There are (MERGEFIELD "Oranges") oranges.

(SEQ list 1) There are (MERGEFIELD "Pears") pears.

Now, if there are no oranges, I don't want it to be on the list at all. I just want the list to look this this:

1. There are 32 apples.

2. There are 3 pears.

To do this, I use if/then conditioning. (IF (MERGEFIELD Oranges) = 0 "" "(SEQ list1) There are (MERGEFIELD "Apples") apples. This is successful in removing the oranges from the list, but there remains a space:

1. There are 32 apples.

2. There are 3 pears.

I've tried every which way I can thing to get rid of that space, but I can't figure it out. Perhaps someone here could help me.

Part of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013

I have a DOCM document.

In the Styles panel, there is an entry for

"Times New Roman, 12 pt, Centered"

I hover over and it shows 15 instances.

It does not take cursor to the first instance.

This is strange.

I hover and select the 15 instances.

Nothing is selected. This is strange.

I then click on "normal". No change.

I hover over it and select Delete.

It does not delete.

I open the file in repair mode and Save As to a different filename.

I start Word in Safe mode using Ctrl so add-ins are disabled.

I hover over it and select Delete.

It does not delete.

I create a new document and select all from the old document and

paste into the new document using Destination.

That does not help.

How do I delete this pesky style?

Thanks in advance.

Try deleting the existing shortcuts to all the Office 2007 programs and
then create new ones on the desktop manually. This sometimes works and
gets rid of the idiotic "configuring" message.

Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution to the file association
issue, since those file types are associated with MS Office 2003 and
earlier versions. Office 2007 has associations that end in an "x", like
docx. You can open every Office 2003 and older file with the Office 2007
programs and save them with the new file type, but that could be very
time consuming.

MS has really dropped the ball on this problem. What's even more
interesting is that there are numerous suggestions online as how to fix
this problem, but none of them work for everybody and most don't work
for anybody.

Office 2007 Enterprise - Deployment

"The problem is, how do I automate this as part of a Group Policy deployment?"

You shouldn't have to automate this, as the issue you are facing should be
unique to the computer you are working on (Unless all the machines in your
envirnment are from an image.) This is not a common issue. Windows doesn't
typically complain about replacing the Fp4autl.dll file.

Try this..
1. Goto Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components>Application
Server>Details>IIS>Details and install (or uninstall if it is already
installed) the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions
2. Attempt to replace the file
3. whether or to you can replace the file in the step 2 try to install
office.

If this doesn't work I would need to troubleshoot the machine. I am hoping
that you don't have this issue on all the machines in your enviroment.

If my last suggestion doesn't work I would recommend you open a case with MS
at 800-936-4900 so they can get a look at the machine.

Resource Assignment and Levelling

Posted: 27 Oct 2005 10:18 AM PDT

Jan has helped me a great deal in the past and knows a lot about how MS
Projects works. I went through some of the same problems you are going
through now. One thing I need to bring up is you can prioritize your task
prior to leveling. If you use priority of 1,000 MS Projects will not level
that task. Priority numbers are from 1 to 999. You can insert a column -
"Priority"
You can also tell MS Projects to not level resource by going to Resource
Sheet and inserting a "Can Level" column.
Good Luck

have a limited # of resources performing mulitple tasks. What I'd like to

We have a couple of tasks (customer acceptance tests) which we know will
take a fixed duration. The immediate reaction is to make the task Fixed
Duration. However this causes the problem above.

If I leave the task as fixed work then enter Work then Duration, the
Resource % assigned to the task varies to satisfy the work & duration just
entered. The Duration is then consistent with our working week (i.e. entering
10 working days results in 10 working days between the Start & Finish dates).

Can you filter unassigned projects?

So there are no project leads/managers, just resources? Are the
resources assigned to tasks, or to the Project Summary task? Or both? I
need to know more about how you're deciding that projects are
"unassigned" and which ones are not, before I can suggest a solution.

It's hard for me to get the whole picture of what's needed there so here is a
stab at what I see:
1) I would either create a project named the WO number or create a project
with a summary task by WO number with sub task below. Use a text field and
rename it WO#. Put the WO# for all task associated with that WO. This will
allow you to run filters later.
2) Create task just how you described below and make logic ties:
a) mold is made/modified, whatever is needed for particular part
And Also:
) Gypsum - approximately 20-60 minutes per mold to lay the part, and 60

FYI - You can cut, paste and modify these task for future WO's.
3. Assign resources as needed. You can have more than one resource per task,
but it's better to have one task per resource.
4) Assign a resource calendar to each resource.
5) Set your resource max units under View>Resource Sheet.
6) You will have to put a Start No Earlier Than constrant date on the first
task of each WO until it starts or you can put logic ties to other WO's task.
7) If there is a mold that will be needed on two WO's you'll need to make a
logic tie between them.
8) Set a time to get updates on a regular basis. Twice a week is not to
often for me.
All of this completed you will be able to know lead times and ship dates by
WO.
Good Luck with your job!

Disabling Resource Pool additions

Posted: 26 Oct 2005 11:56 AM PDT

Hi Tina,
I have created a flag in the resource pool called "shared?". This I have
set to yes for all the resources in the pool. However if a resource is added
from a plan it will default to Shared?="No". Although this wont stop people
adding resources to the pool it does mean you can spot them easily.

Equating resources problem

Posted: 26 Oct 2005 07:19 AM PDT

Hi Milind,

If you use Project's resource leveling you can.
In the leveling dialog box check out "Leveling can adjust individual
assignments"
Or if it's just for this one task, insert the column "Level Assignments" and
put it to "No".

text separator in Project 2000

Hi Wayne,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

I was afraid changing the list separator would have some pretty far reaching
consequences. Glad to know that you arrived at an answer -- not a perfect
one, but an answer never-the-less.

Sorting issue with customer report

Posted: 26 Oct 2005 06:07 AM PDT

Hi Catfish & Dave,

I don't believe the first option "You can go to Reports>Custom and make a
copy of the report you want and set the sort in this new report." will work.
The Sort option that you see in the Who Does What Report definition dialog
box is the sort option for the *type* of report. The "Who does What" report
is a resource report and as such a "Start" field sort is sorting by the
resource's earliest start on assignments, not the start date of the
individual assignments. That being said, printing the left side of the
Resource Usage view (with the modifications I noted) does display the
assignments in the correct order.

Hope this is of help

Task Dependences Between Summary Task

In all the years I've worked with Project, with all the MS people whom

ones I've met still think you link tasks by clicking and dragging from
Task 1 to the last task and clicking on the link icon!

How do I set 10 days effort in a 30 day period?

How Microsoft Calculates the % assigned for a resource on a task

Posted: 25 Oct 2005 12:35 PM PDT

Hi Dale,

The first day where you recorded 36 hours of actual work completed in 8
hours duration, project calculated:

36 hrs work/8 hour duration = 4.5 or 450%
The second day, where you recorded 40 hours of actual work completed in 8
hours duration, project calculated:

40 hours work/8 hour duration = 5 or 500%

If you display the task usage view and add the Peak Units field to the time
phased (right side) of the view, you'll see the 450% for day 1 and 500% for
day two. On the Gantt chart it just shows the 500% assignment unit.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Resource pool problem

Posted: 25 Oct 2005 12:18 PM PDT

Hi Milind,

You have some choices on the Resource Information dialog box about how to
control resource costs. (Double click on the resource name in the Resource
Sheet to show the Resource Information dialog box.)

If the rate change is based on time (resource's rates increase as of a
specific date) you can set a new Effective Date on the cost rate table
A(default) on the Cost tab of the Resource Information dialog box.

If the rate change is not time based (for example the resource charges $200
for one kind of work but $300 for another) you can use the different cost
rate tables (marked B, C, D). Once you have set the different cost rate
table, go to the Resource usage view, double click on the assignment (task
name indented underneath resource name) and in the Assignment information
pick the correct rate table.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

How do I change resource leveling from days to weeks in Project?

Posted: 25 Oct 2005 08:26 AM PDT

Did you change the setting in the Resource Leveling dialog to Week by
Week? Admittedly, Project will tell you this resource works this many
hours on this job each day, but there's no reason you have to use those
numbers for actual scheduling. I would think the critical thing would
be to get a rough idea during the initial planning process and let
things sort themselves out as you collect actuals from people each
week. Unless they are extremely retentive, my guess is that they
will work based on "this is what I have to get done this week, as
opposed to "I have to work 2 hours on this task today."

This is the thing I think catches most schedulers up (I know it did me)
when they first start up. The schedule is not sacred, it's a tool to
identify when you are going to miss deadlines before you miss them.

Don't serve the tool, let the tool serve you.
