Set SCL value

Posted: 06 Feb 2007 08:01 AM PST

I agree with Alexander that this would not be very practical. The SCL value
has to be assigned by a trusted source. Hold on, I'm getting a feed from
my implant: That is what the Exchange 2007 Edge Transport server will do
for you! Seriously, though, you Edge Transport will do that for you. It
is also possible that there are some 3rd party products and services that
will do that for you at a hosted service provider or via an appliance in
your DMZ. I'm not sure what the actual deployment details would be, though.
I am pretty sure for E2K3 that the SCL value has to be passed in a trusted
source, this means an E2K3 bridgehead server.

How can I restore someone's deleted contacts?

Posted: 06 Feb 2007 07:23 AM PST

OK, I figured out that problem, I had to actually take the running/production
Information Store db offline (unmount). So I got that to work.

The next step is to defrag that db, but I'm running low on drive space on
the C: drive (2.5GB free) and it gets about 16% through the defrag process
and aborts because of low disk space. Is there anyway to have it put its
temp defrag files on another drive?

Something blocking OWA from working.

Posted: 05 Feb 2007 01:36 PM PST

We are trying to access the outlook web mail from outside the
organization.
This computer is a windows 2003 server with exchange 2003 on it.
Inside the organization it works fine. We can access mail via exchange
and via the web eg we type in http://10.1.0.2/exchange and we get the
password box and mail.

However we we try to access it through a router that is directly
connect to the DMZ and to a second port on the computer it does not
work.

eg DMZ --> Router --> Nic2 ---Win2003/Exchange Server.

To try to make things simple to just see if we could simply get to the
server we stopped iis and the owa and put in a little web program on
the Win2003 server. Just to see if we could access it on this machine,
but we cant.
In testing our rourter configuration we have put this same web program
on a laptop and set it up in the following way
DMZ --> Router --> Nic ---Laptop (with web server program).

This WORKS. But when we swap out the laptop and plug in the Win2003/
Exchange Server it does not. Its like there is something on this
computer that is preventing it from working.

Corrupt Information Store (Exchange 2003)

Posted: 05 Feb 2007 11:32 AM PST

Perhaps related, but I have an additional issue.

For the last few nights (well 3 of 5), users have lost connectivity to the
Exchange server. On the server itself, all services are running and there
are absolutely no errors in the Event Viewer that are unusual. All users are
affected by this and a restart pf the server is the only thing I've found to
resolve it.

Please advise.

General, if somewhat aging, advice on Debian printer setup:
"Printing Setup" on http://linuxmafia.com/kb/Debian/

First stop for any printer driver issue on Linux should be
http://www.linuxprinting.org/ (linked from the above), as it
lets you know what are the recommended filters ("drivers") for
just about any printer.

(FYI, when you're asking for Linux help about a piece of hardware,
please use the _complete and correct_ name for that hardware -- since
your helpers may need to search on it. You did not do so.)

For the HP DeskJet 3535, you reach this detail page:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-DeskJet_3535

Please note that it recommends, not surprisingly, the hpijs filter
("driver") as your overall best choice -- or its "HPLIP" superset.

I note, in searching the packages.debian.org engine, that Debian has
packages "hplip" and "hplip-data" -- and that the notes say you need
package "hpoj" (primarily intended for HP OfficeJets; thus the name),
instead, for parallel-port models as opposed to USB or JetDirect.
You'll probably need to also request packages "hpijs",
"foomatic-filters", and "foomatic-filters-ppds" -- in addition to what
my article (above) mentions.

getting Fedora off my Windows machine.- boot sector problem

Rick Moen wrote:

Hi Rick;
FWIW -- There doesn't appear to be the 2 'other' most commonly used
commands listed there at that link - namely;
FIXMBR
BOOTCFG /rebuild

Only FIXBOOT is discussed which doesn't fix a HDD MBR, but only the (a)
partition's Boot sector.

The author of the site appears quite knowledgeable about windows, and
even posts links to quite a few respectable ms mvps' sites -- I even
likely have that page bookmarked in my win98 boot area (Dual boot box)
-- but I haven't had a need to fire it up for perhaps a month now or so
;-)

I commend the author for both maintaining the site for ms users whom
need help -- and for posting screenshots and for posting concise
instructions about using the RC in XPoop ;-) But I disagree about the
methodology to restore an XPoop MBR. As noted via another poster: a
simple win98 comand 'Fdisk /mbr' (which IIRC, only rewrites the 1st
440bytes of 512 and leaves the 64 bytes of the MPT untouched) -- or the
_preferred_ (in this case) XPoop's version 'FIXMBR' will rewrite the
MBR. NTFS (as opposed to win98's FAT16/32) uses the usually mostly
unused 8 bytes (the leftovers) to mark(ID) the MBR as it's own.

Googling those other 2 commands should yield a wealth of information
about their uses.

Another thing I recall when messing with XPoop's RC -- the XP CDROMs
contents (atleast in the i386 Dir) are compressed files with names like
NTDETECT.CO_ ,so decompressing them into their proper name is necessary
if trying to replace those files (originally found in root C:\). Win98
uses the "extract" command when doing this, whereas winXPoop uses the
"Expand" command.

I've had the displeasure to endevour on such a journey once or twice ..
I forget if the 'Expand' command is needed (instead of 'copy' as
outlined in the link) , or if RC already knows (assumes) this, and does
the expansion on it's own (perhaps the CDROMs version of 'Copy' invokes
expansion ?), but I don't think I recall it that way when I did it.

Well -- so much for my limited XPoop exp ;-)
Just wanted to point out some possible mis-steps that may occur if you
link to that particular site.

Calling a partition "/swap" does not make it a virtual memory paging area.

So if OP posts 'ls /swap', 'cat /proc/swaps', 'cat /etc/fstab' and
'fdisk -l' we might see what's going on in there.

Performance loss by using swapfile isn't that much. File or partition,
the drive head still needs to seek to the swap area.

With a swap partition there's no filesystem layer (directory) to follow,
making a separate partition a little faster.

Cheers,
Grant.

In fact, in the work that I do, I have to do this all the time. It's a pain

The only other option is to put the same task on 2 lines - one for September
1st to September 30th at 70% allocation and the other from October 1st to
October 31st at 45% allocation. But this means that your task is running over
2 lines - something you may not want.

There isn't unless you use VBA. Another approach though is to have the
duplicated set of tasks as a task list in Excel and only one task in Project
to represent the whole set. Simpler, quicker to schedule and the resources
still get a detailed task list.

Just show Milestones

Jenn,

You could create on Consolidated File instead of copy/paste. Then filter
for milestones.

Anyone using the MSCRM to Great Plains Integration?

There are several hotfixes (they may be private so you may have to contact
support to obtain them)which have been released and some which are still in
development to address Australian (or Non US) issues.

My impression is that MS is on the verge of re releasing the integration in
Australia and will be officially supporting it (something which they have
not done so far).

The integration system requirements are extreme in my opinion and I would
definately recommend installing it on a dedicated server.

There are also several important pieces (in my opionion) missing from the
integration which may or may not be of concern depending on your
requirements.

have you installed crm in this domain before? Also not the security service
has a debug mode that you can read about in my faq below. Sometimes (not
always) this can help track the issue down.

Hyperthreading: to use, or not to use

Posted: 28 Feb 2005 01:41 AM PST

We run SBS2003 on a Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz with HT and EMT64 (I wonder if we
will see SBS2003 64Bit? !!)

We have 2Gb ECC RAM.

It runs pretty well, however we have a modest install with only 5 users.

CRM Mobile + Certificates

Posted: 27 Feb 2005 08:21 PM PST

Thanks for the reply guys.
I tried the Certificate tool and all checks up fine. After this I tried
https://(servername):(ssl)/ssCERDA and that tested up fine where as when you
use the crm site port no. not ssl port no. it doesn't work! But it does work
in our office with https://(servername)/ssCERDA so it is weird.
The environment is a SBS 03 server hosting the CRM and fileshare for the
network.
That was the funny thing there wasn't any errors until we ran the test
pages... only a "cant find page" error.
BUT now we have another issue maybe you guys could help with.
The palm can resolve the test pages etc etc but when we attempt to sync the
palm it crashes with the following error “A connection could not be
established at this time” +
“Device registration failed.”
Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Nathan

Custom entities

Posted: 27 Feb 2005 06:21 PM PST

we all been new to crm at some point :-)

ok when you launch a custom web app from say an account form, the custom
code can get the ID of the account object. so using this you have a link to
use to connect your new data in your new database back to the crm account

now creating workflows against the new entity :-)

well that would be a trick....i know it is possible to extend the workflow
engine using the sdk but believe you are looking to some major development
to do this. Currently I do not think this is possible although if anyone
knows different I am sure they will jump in :-)

CRM DATA Base

Posted: 25 Feb 2005 02:48 AM PST

Thank you

I restored the Databases
I pointed CRM to the new Databases via Deployment Manager.

If I try to Access Information via the Webinterface
It gives me a Sercurity Error.

If I want to open Deployment Manager.
I get an Error "CRM system Admin privileges are required to use Deployment
Manager."

The only way I can get CRM back is to reInstalled it

Why is this ?
