Microsoft Office Word 2007

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 01:57 PM PDT

Hello

I am having an issue with Word 2007.  I am looking to create an outline numbered list for typing up and formatting some notes from a recent meeting.  I have set up the styles.  When I tab to create a second level in the document, the cursor moves over but the style for the second level does not show up.  Have I missed something in setting up?

Thanks

Nick

password to activate office

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 12:54 PM PDT

How do I get the password that was used to install Office.  I do not have a product Key.  Software was bought with no CD but a password to download Office 2013 home/student.  Because of the "word is not working" error, software has to be repaired.  Once repaired it has to be activated.

Find parenthetical string of a determined minimum length

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 12:05 PM PDT

A wildcard search for (\(*\)) finds any string between and including the parentheses.

How do I amend that to ignore any string that has fewer than four characters between the parentheses? I want to find (Smith) or (1987) but I want to skip (NGO) or (ISP) or (b) or (iv) . . .

How to get "Select All" to include footer in Word 2010

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 11:45 AM PDT

I have a fax template saved.  Occasionally I like to save a copy of a fax, so I will use "select all" to select it and then copy it to another word document and save that.  I then can close out the template and since don't save changes to it, I am left with my personal tempplate intact.  However, when I choose"select all", the footer is not selected - so when I copy it and then paste it into a new document, I can save it - but the footer is missing.  Strangely, both the header and the text of the body of the fax document are both selected - it is just the footer that is not selected. Why can't I select the whole document?

auto enter date word 2007

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 11:42 AM PDT

I have a document that has been ongoing since 2011. With each entry on a new day until about six weeks age when I started to enter the month for the day of a new entry I could autocomplete the date by hitting enter. I tried going to visual basic and changing the Application.AutoDisplayCompleteTips = to True and that didn't work. I can't find a formatting tool that lets me change this option to what I want as a default setting. It has to be an easy option and Word 2007 makes me feel stupid. I've had Office 2010 on desktop for several years and I don't want to even think about having to learn it or an even newer version of Office. Thanks for helping me with my frustration.  2003 was easy. Joan

I click the Word 2007 icon on my desktop, I get the Microsoft Word 2007 splash screen, then I get a large box with something like "Please wait while Office 2007 is Configured."  It takes a long time, a progress bar appears, ......    If I cancel and cancel and cancel, the Word blank document screen finally appears and Word seems to work OK.

erratic mouse operation

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 10:21 AM PDT

After using Microsoft Word 2007 for years with a wireless mouse with no difficulties I recently experienced the following pro0blem.  The arrow controlled by the mouse is corrupted with the small rotating circle that indicates the processor is working.  There is a flashing back and forth between the normal arrow and the rotating circle.  The pointer is fully operational but difficult to know where you are and is extremely annoying. I  changed the mouse to a USB connected one and get the same problem  The issue in not the mouse but somewhere in Word.  The problem is not present in any other parts of Microsoft Office.

How to change a default setting about encoding when Word opens

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 09:14 AM PDT

When I try to log on to Word, I get a message that says: File Conversion - $Zotero.dot

Select the encoding that makes your document readable.

Text encoding:

Set to Chinese Simplified (GB2312)

It then says that "Word cannot open a document template" in a path in my user app data folder.

Is there a way to get rid of this from appearing each time I open Word2010?

Tried to do a print screen, but it seems not to have copied here.

Any help appreciated.

I can't print in Word 2010!

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 08:42 AM PDT

Hello,

I have Windows 8 and Office 2010 and every time I go to print in Word, the message "Word cannot print, there is no printer installed" pops up. I know for a fact that my printer is installed. It printed fine the other day and not it won't. My printer is listed as the default printer for my computer so I don't understand why it is telling me that there is no printer installed. I uninstalled and re-installed the printer and nothing changed. I can, however, print in other Office applications, such as Excel, and I can print in the Internet. Also, when I go to File and Print, there is a red exclamation mark in the customer page size field next to 8.5x11. This was never there before and I think this is a reason why it won't print. Can anyone help me please!!!

Update for Rights Management Services Client for Windows 7 (KB979099)

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 07:24 AM PDT

Update for Rights Management Services Client for Windows 7 (KB979099).  When I click to "Continue", your system opens another dialog box "Genuine Windows Validation" in step one (1) "Run the validation tool" I click on the green "CONTINUE" button.  Your system downloads "GenuineCheck.exe" onto my HD.  When I "RUN" this executable program I repeatedly (six (6) times now) receive an error message "This version of Windows Genuine Advantage validation tool is no longer supported.  Please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate".  However, what you FAIL to offer is any location or name of the "newest version"!  After running the only other option I can find on your limited site, your system indicated "Windows validation in progress.  This may take a few minutes, do not navigate from this page".  It them brings up another screen stating, "Welcome to Windows!  Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the security, reliability and protection it provides".  However, all this great information still does not solve your error issues!  In order to Update for Rights Management Services Client for Windows 7 (KB979099), I must have a code produced by your erroneous, outdated validation program.  Please advise "your" solution to "your" outdated validation process so I may download the repair patch: KB979099.

why error: word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 05:51 AM PDT

I have a document that is synced by SkyDrive.  Two PCs. One is Windows 7, Office 2010. The other Windows 8, Office 2013.

Getting an error with a word document syncing on the windows 8 PC. On the Windows 8 PC I am told skydrive has a problem. It points me toward the document, I click to open the document, click to accept the changes from SkyDrive.  Still the same error.

Then I make a change to the document on Windows 8, Office 2013 and Save.  Get error "word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error
".  Why is that?  Is SkyDrive on the  Windows 8 PC running with different permissions than my user account?

I navigate to the document in windows explorer. right click the file. security properties. I give Users "full control". Click apply.  I do not get a UAC prompt even though my account is not an admin account. Click OK.  Still same error.

What to do?  Why is this such a problem?

thanks,

I am trying to produce a Hebrew text. I follow all the instructions I could find; indeed, the displayed text is justified right. However, the cursor is at the right edge, and when I type the entered text is at the right edge. Selecting a Hebrew font like Miriam or Aharoni jumps right back to Times New Roman when I begin to type. Obviously I am missing some crucial setting. What is it?

Can't enter Ctrl to create keyboard shortcut

I've tried pressing the Ctrl key and I've tried typing the individual letters. Nothing seems to work. How can I get it to work?

Microsoft Word 2010 Starter Edition: Constant crashing

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 03:36 AM PDT

Hello everyone,

Up until a few months ago, my Word Starter Edition worked fine... but there came a point when every time I use the program now - it crashes after a period of 20 seconds or so. (I'm guessing the problem started following a Windows update???)

I've tried repairing the installation & removing my customised settings, but to no avail.

Frankly I don't know how I've managed to deal with this over the past few months, because every time I've wanted to do something in Word I've literally had to add a few lines of text at a time, and quickly save it before the inevitable crash happens a few seconds later... re-open the program and repeat the process.

Really frustrating problem and I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas on how to overcome it.

Many thanks.

Number formatting

Posted: 05 Oct 2013 01:55 AM PDT

Am trying to format a thesis

Each chapter has a title page where the words chapter xx, are above the title of the chapter.

My problem is I can easily apply a level 1 heading to the chapter title and then choose chapter under outlined numbering. But that does not give me the desired formating I want. I want to have the "chapter xx" appear centred above the chapter title.

See illustration below (my desire is to have Case 2 and not Case 1)

Need some help on how to customise the formatting to achieve this.

Word 2003 takes several minutes to open documents

Posted: 04 Oct 2013 10:21 PM PDT

I am trying to edit documents created on my work computer (Office 2000/2003) on my home computer (Office 2003).  When I try to open one of these documents I get the "busy" mouse cursor and the Word window shows "Not responding" at the top.  After several minutes nothing happens, but sometimes the document sometimes opens.  This also occurs if I double click on the document in the explorer window.

I'm not opening these docs over a network.  I've tried renaming the default template (as has been suggested by some people) but this does not help.  If I reopen word I get prompted to recover the document, with the warning that the doc caused a serious error last time it was opened.

Can anybody help here?

Word 2010 crashes with Insert>QuickParts>DocumentProperty>Comment

Posted: 04 Oct 2013 06:54 PM PDT

Hi
Anyone know of a solution to this??

I use Quick Parts ALOT.
But for the first time that I can recall I tried to Insert>QuickParts>DocumentProperty>Comment.

I have inserted other Document Properties in a blank document to check – that is all OK but EVERY time I select "Comment" it bombs out and crashes Word – forcing a shutdown as "Word has stopped working"

If instead I select Insert>QuickParts>Field>Comment it works fine – but of course that doesn't have the same "behaviour" in the document as Document Properties – i.e. it is not bi-directionally linked that if you change it in the document, it is not reflected back in the Document Properties dialogue, so if you select Update Field it reverts to the original Document Properties dialogue box value (all the other selections in QuickParts>Document Property are bi-directionally linked)

Put pages in order please

Posted: 04 Oct 2013 04:53 PM PDT

Hello from Steved

I have duplicate pages for example pages 1 to 10 have Races 1 to 10, and pages 11 to 20 have the duplicate Races 1 to 10

The second lot of Races 1 to 10 has different information than the first Races 1 to 10.

The objective please is to marry them together ie: page 1 and page then page 2 and page 2 and so on.

Each Page has he heading has the word RACE with the font Arial 20

The bottom of each page has 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0

My macro is below.

Thankyou.

Dalya,

Thanks for the best wishes.

My goal is stable file tagging that is consistently transportable between sync'd computers. That just isn't possible with Spotlight Comments or any other method that I know of. I'm just trying to add Office 2004 files to my portfolio of file types I can reliably tag with this method.

Thanks.

I have no clue. I was thinking along the lines of different languages when

I hate to mention it, but it could take an "Archive & Install" of the OS to
fix it. I did this recently, and the only thing I had to re-install was my
Microsoft keyboard software.

"Archive and Install" moves existing system files to a folder named Previous
System and then installs Mac OS X again.

Just be sure to check Preserve Users and Network Settings when you select
Archive & Install.

Applescript question: changing format of selection...

You might repost the question in the Excel dedicated group. Also search
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/developers/default.mspx

and download the Excel 2004 AppleScript Reference and search that--it
may have more samples than the Migration Guide and might turn up a way
to address the command to selected text rather than extracting XXX and YYY.

Get gray screen when try to insert clipart in Office 2008

Posted: 04 Jul 2008 01:15 PM PDT

Bob, Thanks for making your suggestions. I have actually tried all of this: I've reinstalled Office 2008, installed all three updates, gone to disk utility to run permissions repair, restarted the computer- and still get only a gray screen when I try to insert clip art or to to the insert objects palette in the toolbox. I really don't know what else to do. I have a long term Mac consultant who is going to look at it for me on Monday. I'll let you know what he discovers.
Deb

Can't tell too awfully much without knowing specifics of OS X & Office

versions as well as in which program(s) this occurs, but in general...

Make sure OS X & Office are update to the current levels, run disk Utility
- Repair Disk Permissions & restart your Mac. If that doesn't resolve
it post back with complete descriptive details.

Also, what happens if you use the ClipArt mode of the Insert Objects palette
in the Toolbox?

Standard to Enterprise upgrade

Posted: 10 Jun 2005 06:54 AM PDT

Doesn't get much easier, hey? One more question - does the move from
standard to enterprise constitute an 'upgrade' in that you are still using
the license from the standard or is it such that the purchase of the
Enterprise Server media constitute a seperate purchase allowing for the
installation of the original Standard version on another seperate server thus
allowing you to have two seperate Exchange organizations?

AD Schema and default Send and Receive Limits

The same way we already do. :)

For message sizes, place the maximum upper limit at the "global" level
and the smaller limits on the individual objects that are the
exception to those limits. You can only increase the individual
upper-limits to equal the size of the global limit.

For mailbox sizes, place the general limit on the database (and, if
you have many of those, apply the limits in a policy). Make exemptions
at the individual mailboxes. Here you can exceed the default limit you
set in the database properties.

I wouldn't set limits on the indivual mailboxes for the receive sizes,
just the send sizes.

Why not? If the other users need them to accomplish their jobs they
should be able to receive them. But that brings up the question of why
one internal user would use e-mail to share a file of that size with
another internal user. A file share, ftp server, web site, or
sharepoint server would be a lot better for this.

There are probably commercial tools that would provision your users
according to one classification or another.

Question regarding the GPO for junk email.

Are we supposed to see the list of safe senders we had in the text file

Exchange e-mail box not created

Posted: 08 Jun 2005 06:03 PM PDT

Okay. This is what I did.

I went to another user and sent the new user an e-mail. When I look in the
exchange administration, it shows her e-mail box. When I open her Outlook, it
still can not resolve her name. If a use a diffrent name, no problem as it
underlines the name. So this tells me that it is communicating with Exchange.
You mention a filter in Exchange but I am not sure where to fix if that is
the problem.

Thanks againn for any assistance.

If you have an exchange ENT edition, you can create a new store fore those

Exchange 2003 Outlook Web Access

Thanks Paul...

The IIS lockdown tool was run against this server prior to the Exchange
installation. urlscan was running and was indeed what was causing the
problem. As soon as I turned off urlscan all worked well. There was an
article on support.microsoft.com (I didn't save the article number) that
helped, but ultimately, I contacted Microsoft for help and they helped me
modify the urlscan.ini file to include all of the components necessary for
OWA.

OWA is working fine now.

ahhh, thanks. I saw that post elsewhere, but didn't notice the DL membership
portion of the tool.
Thanks.

SMTP connector with outbound security enabled, enables authentication for all other connectors!!?!

Hi guys,

We only have the 1 virtual SMTP server on the Front End servers. and just to
confirm I haven't enabled outbound security here.

I have simply enabled it on the 'Admin users' SMTP connector found under
\Routing Groups\First Routing Group\Connectors in ESM.

It's a really weird problem isn't it..
