Nokia, with the exception of the occasional MS mole or two, has as a
company policy of strong support for open standards and lately even open
source. The next platforms are to be built on a modified Debian called
Maemo and even sponsoring porting Ubuntu to the ARM architecture.

If they don't sync with your Nokia. It should sync, but if it doesn't
then that capability is probably not far off. Be sure to file bug
reports on both sides.

It has a full project management package. If I do editting for a whole
site, it will then upload all the changes at once. Nice feature for
projects.

Hi!

(1) AutoCorrect is language-sensitive.
Note that some typos in one language can make senese in another one.
Thus you must assure that you have the desired AutoCorrection entries
for the same language that is set in the document.

(2) When adding AutoText entries...
After you entered the "Replace" and "With" field, you have to click
"New" in to get that entry into the list. Only clicking "OK" quits the
dialog without adding anything to the list.

Well the talk won't be focused as much on OpenOffice.org (I will be doing
OOo on a different talk). But yeah is a great idea to talk about Linux
could run on Mac althought I will have to be careful since most Mac OS7/8
will so little RAM that it might not be able for OOo 2.x to run.

Also yellow dog linux might be too fat nowadays too.

from Excel.
Make sure you remove any custom defined ranges as this is what very often
causes the problem.
1) remove the autofilter
Data > Filter > Autofilter

2) Remove any pre-defined range
Data > Define Range
then select any range in the list and press Delete.

3) try the auto filter now
Data > Filter > Autofilter

enabled. I generally need to use Ruby & other CJK formatting in my STL
documents.

Someday, it may be possible for a font to have metadata to allow some
the glyphs to appear different for certain languages. I don't know any
rendering engines or fonts that supports such metadata, but I put that
there for a possibility. This metadata feature would be especially
useful for Pan-CJK fonts & Pan-Unicode fonts.

Yet! Why there isn't a "Reset All" button to have a Reset to include
Language, or an "Advanced Reset" to allow me to Reset on per-attribute
basis.

I want full control of document formatting. The inability of or
complications in removing non-stylesheet language formatting doesn't
meet that goal.
 

That maybe a possibility if double-click on paragraph style's name twice
is implemented. Also, a triple click to remove non-stylesheet language.

As a sidenote! I can't override "Default" character style definition,
but I can override the "Default" paragraph style definition.
 

I'd not expect to write English in an Esperanto paragraph, and vice
versa. :-)
 

Here is another example for use of "default" language:

If I am composing educational documents with versions for different
English language markets. The documents contains intentional examples of
regional variations with manual language formatting.

When I ready to create a version of a document for a English Language
market. I just change the language dialect of the paragraph style to see
the red lines for color/colour, etc. for fixing up spelling, but all
intentional examples containing regional variation examples will not be
affected by the redline effect.

Another example that I might be writing a script for a stageshow which
contains characters who use different dialects of English and/or foreign
languages, but I want all the non-dialog text (eg: Instructions for
actors) to be only in a single English dialect.
 

Look, the paragraph/character stylesheets still have language options.
If you say that language is no longer stylesheet related, wy are they
"still" there in stylesheet options?

You don't realize that some languages may have different paragraph
layout requirements so the language attribute is an important part of
the paragraph stylesheet.

The stylesheet linked "default" language behaviour still exists in
OpenOffice.org 2.4 try it.

I create a new style "Default (GB)" which is a copy of "Default" but
with "English (GB)". The original default is set to "English (US)"

I write line of text with paragraph style "Default". (Use example text
"color colour")

Put the cursor in the middle of line, bottom of screen reads "English (US)".

I change the line to paragraph style "Default (GB)"

The bottom of screen reads "English (GB)"

I change the line back to paragraph style "Default"

The bottom of screen reads "English (US)"

Yep! The "Default" language is still linked to stylesheets. I still
consider that language is an attribute of paragraph and character. Why
the stylesheet options for them still have language options in them?

Without the ability to easily remove non-stylesheet languages, I would
have to write a OpenDocument XML tool to strip all non-stylesheet
languages to correct theis "problem" which 2.4 had created.

Yep! The language attribute in Character/Paragraph styless still exist
at OpenDocument.org XML level.


Next, you would say that you can't remove |lang:en-US> in the future
"Reveal-Codes" enabled version of OpenOffice.org

when ever I select a line for formatting it to the middle of the page or any other action being performed by me, the whole page acts as if the whole page is selected.

What action have I to do in the option page or on any control of the MS office 2007 being used as 2003. the same is tried in MS Word only.

Twenty-Year-Old Question About BOLD, *Italic*, and _Underline_

For twenty years, in no matter which version of Word, and no matter whether a keyboard or mouse "turns off" bold, italic, or underline... (SEE, it just did it now)... Anyway, no matter how I have turned off formatting, if I do not put a space (spacebar space) between the last formatted character (as in the "e" in the word "underline" here) and the next character--which should be returned to "normal"--the formatting continues. 

Right now, working in Sigil (not Word, but using .CSS that calls itself MsNormal), and having copied-and-pasted chunks of text from Word 2010, I finally decided I would ask this question: Why, if one mouse-clicks or keyboard-commands a certain type of formatting to turn off, does the formatting NOT turn off? For twenty years, I have done the following: 1) turned off formatting; 2) Hit the Spacebar; 3) resumed "normal" font; 4) then hit the Backspace key to join the formatted text to (generally) a punctuation mark. So that when I write Hello, Microsoft Word Experts Named Susan or Charles! Hmm...I didn't have to follow the four steps just now. Let me try this again. Hello, Microsoft Word Experts Who Respond to Curmudgeons! and By Curmudgeon I Mean More 'Mudgeon' than 'Cur'... It happened. 

In the first instance, when I Unclicked "ITALICS," and then typed the exclamation point, the exclamation point immediately "righted" itself with no need for my cha-cha-cha of Unclicking, Hitting Spacebar, Resuming Normal, Backspacing to Fill in the Void. BUT in the second example, the underlining, when I Unclicked "Underline" but then hit Space, the underlining continued.

Is this a user- or Word-based quirk? I do not know why I've done this for twenty years without asking. That is a user-based quirk.

Very embarrassing, I purchased Office 365 so my daughter could work her summer internship. It failed terribly. Could not keep connection going for more then 2-3 minutes on wifi. She was able to get Netflix to run, as well as tested my Dark age of Camelot MMORPG both worked fine on same wifi.

2013 Word Heading Numbers don't display correctly

I had redefined Heading Number list, saved file, openend file and no problem.  Renamed the file and when I opened it the Numbered list does not display correctly.  In the Navigation pane, the list shows correctly but in the document, instead of numbers, there is a black solid box. 

 

I have checked the font highlighting to make sure there is no color over the text.  See attached screen image of a crop out from by One Note.

A correspondance problem between the footnote number and the content

I'm writing a thesis; and I am using EndNote to keep track of my bibliographic source. Everything was okay, then I noticed today that the footnote number and the content of what should be in that footnote do not correspond in several footnotes. For example, footnote 20 will have a reference to a book by Smith, but it should be reference to a book by Jones. And Jones is now in footnote 22 instead. And on and on.

Is there anything I can do besides manually change a hundred or so footnotes.

Documents are saved in old Office versions

Everything was wonderful! until one day, I found myself 'signed out' (I didn't do it!) and my documents wouldn't open properly. I signed in and thought it was OK, but ever since then when I open a document – not just older ones! - I get an error message: "There was a problem sending to the command program" followed by "the converter failed to save the file". Then the document opens with a new name, involving 1's 0's and X's. I find I can open the document if I open the associated Office program first and then open the document, but that's not how it worked, the first few months, and I don't think it should be that way. I see that documents are all being saved in an older (2007) Office format and I wonder if that might be the main problem. Thanks, in advance, for your help!!

I figured out the problem. It had to do with the current case value in the
system and case numbers that I had imported from another CRM installation.
I changed the current case value and that took care of the problem.

It "can" work, but it also might not. If the DC config is relatively clean,
then you might be OK. However, there have been some issues with the SFO client
and replication in a single server (non-SBS) environment.

Business Unit Settings --> Users.
Select the user, click on the Licenses tab, then Manage
Licenses. You can then highlight the license and remove it
from the Selected Licenses field.

If I understand you correctly, the information you need to track is basically
"child" tables that are tied to the Account or Contact. The following MSDN
article covers how to setup a new page within MSCRM that displays info from
another database. You can use this as a base for creating pages that maintain
the additional information you need.

You will obviously need to work out the PK/FK issues, but the concepts are
there. There are also several other articles there that will get you pointed in
the right direction.

On the pc where you want to install the client you need to be log in as a user which exists on the Active Directory where the CRM server is a member of. The Username/Password have to be the same. The user also needs to have a licence assigned to him/her

I just got back from a 2 day SharePoint development class, and the
instructor recommended using Microsoft Virtual Machine for developing
applications on MS CRM, rather than devoting another Windows 2003 server for
a "test environment." Might this be an option for you?

confusion. Also, most of the communication b\w depts will
be in the form of tasks instead of emails. (i.e. Sales
needs contract amendment from legal - submits task to
Legal queue). We want a way to track\analyze internal

I think you're right in stating that sales people have to create all three
accounts from a Lead, whether that Lead has actually bought something or
not. It makes more sense to me to escalate a Lead to an Opportunity, then
to an Account rather than do the latter two at the same time, but I guess
our sales staff will just have to use the program as is :(

Hank - Keep in mind when you add fields in MS-CRM that you cannot delete
them. Also, yes you can create fields with look-up values/drop-down list
fields. Create the field first and publish the customization from
deployment manager. Then customize the form itself within MS-CRM (System
Customization) to add the values for that item. Publish the form
customization. Then IISRESET on the web server. Should be it. At least
that is how I do it! brian

But it works fine as regular jscript in a web page. It just doesn't work
with MSCRM in the jscript box for the onchange event for picklists.

I thought it was going to be a much easier process. The
biggest issue that I found was an error every time I
booted saying:
"The procedure entry point GetTextExtentPointI could not
be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"

Turns out that the OLEDB32.DLL that I had was old and the
upgrade did not replace it and that caused services to
fail.

MS CRM still won't run because now it is telling me that I
am trying to log on with a bad user id but at least I am
closer.

3 - server 2000 running vs.net for development and client
4 - exchange server

when its all started up it is sluggish but not unusable. I have developed
crm custom code on this setup and believe me, if it was slow i would not use
it

I'm sure you can get it to work, but I don't know what you'd have to do to get
it to be successful. I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with the security
tied to the replication.

I know there have been many people who have posted problems about trying to get
it to work, but have not seen an answer yet. Having the workstation in the CRM
Domain is listed as a req for SFO.

Is your CRM server on Windows 2003? I had this same problem because my CRM was on Windows Server 2003 and my active directory was on 2000. If this is the case for you, you have to open an incident with Microsoft (mbs.microsoft.com) to get a hotfix for an updated authx.dll file

No this is not possible using standard CRM. There is no way to say only
user1 can see your addin etc.

However as CRM uses the Active Directory you could have your code ask the AD
if they are a member of a certain group and if they are run the code and if
not drop out.

Never tried it but I'm sure it is possible

i have a HP laserjet 1018 and i'm running vista home premium.  when i use the enevlope printing in word and send the print job to the printer the enevlope comes out blank.  HP says it "Could" be a corrupt file that stores the configuration setup in word.  I'm being told to restore the defaults.

1. is there such a file?

2.  if so, what's it file name?

3. can that file be deleted and if so will i be able to restore my settings?

I don't know that I can't change from wrong grammar to correct grammar when I make wrong English grammar. For example, a boy are polite, and then MS Word 2013 has to check under blue line "are -> is" for correct grammar.

When a Word document has comments inserted in the text or changes have been made visible with the track changes option Word shows the markup area next to the right document margin. The background color of the markup area is gray (silver).

I'd like to print the document with the markup marks (comments and changes in the markup area) but I'd say that the gray markup area is wasting a lot of printer toner/ink (especially if the document has many pages). How to change the background color of the markup area so that it becomes white?

Bug -- typing /= for Math AutoCorrect crashes Word

In some documents -- by no means all, or I would have smashed my computer already -- in Equation regions, typing /= to trigger Math AutoCorrect for  will instantly close Word without saving and without warning.

It works perfectly fine if I select all and copy into a new document. Then the issue disappears when I continue with my work.

Hopefully this will get fixed.

Word 2010 - Blocked Files

I cannot save Word 2010 docx files.  I have gone through the help on this, and updated the File Block settings. This list does not include 2010, or docx.  I have tried converting a file from Word 2007, and opening a brand new file, and both gave me the blocked message.  Any ideas how I can get Word working for me again?

I have been using Office Pro 2010 since it's release & to date, not experienced any major issues.  That is until now.  I have a 286 page document that is still being worked on as well as editing regarding content & grammar.

 

The problem I'm experiencing is that all edits or amendments are saved & on returning to the document at a later date, all edits/amendments are ok with just the one exception: - I had got one name incorrect & amended it, yet every time I open the document since amending it, it shows the original name.  How is it that this edit is not being accepted whereas all others are ok?

MS Word 2013 Changes Page Orientation when Printing Multiple Sections

I have a ~120 page MS Wors 2013 document that uses section breaks to switch some pages to landscape mode for better print viewing of reports which are screen clips.  Everything looks fine in MS Word.  However, when I try to print the document MS Word converts all the pages to landscape!  Literally all that I do is File->Print and the next thing I know I see first Section pages changed to Landscape mode.  I tried File->Save As to PDF (which is actually the first thing I did) with the same results.  File -> Print to a pdf has the same results.

 

So of course I close without saving when this happens.  I open the file again and the orientations are correct.  But every time I try to print it the thing changes my sections.

 

My ultimate goal is that I need this changed to a PDF, but I'd also like to print it once to do an end to end review.

Disappearing borders on images

While attempting to format images within documents with MS Word 2010, I have been incredibly frustrated to have single sides of my image border disappear. This is especially frequent when using multiple images side by side, but also when single images are used. I have tried moving the image, re-sizing, using different border thickness, special effects, moving away any and all possible parts of the text that may encroach upon the image, deleting text boxes - anything I can think of - all to no avail. Any tips? I am sure I can't be the only idiot out there who has been having this problem but I have not found any online resource advising how to sort it out. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Can I use a Frame inside a Table in W07?

I am creating a document where the text is contained in a table for page formatting purposes. 

 

I want to insert an illustration with a caption within a table cell containing text as shown.

The idea is to be able to keep both objects together and position the pair of them within the Table Cell.  Then the text in the cell could flow around the pair of them.  I expected to be able to highlight the two objects and Insert a Frame around them but as soon as I highlight them the Insert Frame icon on my quick access toolbar greys out - is disenabled.

 

Is there some way to get Insert Frame to work, or is their some other way to achieve the aim?

I want to write a macro to insert a row of a formatted table in a W07 document like this:

 

 

I thought I had it worked by by copying a row to the clipboard and writing a macro to insert that.  It worked fine until the copy was no longer on the clipboard - then it just inserted whatever was there! :(  Silly me :(

 

Anyway, the problem is that I can get a two-cell table row to insert with a macro but the macro won't accept formatting of the row as shown.

 

Is there a way to do that?

I am trying to set up a template in which I want the headings to be numbered in Legal Style:

 

1. First Heading Level

1.1 Second Heading Level

1.1.1 Third Heading Level

2. First Heading Level

2.1 Second Heading Level

etc.

 

W07 does not seem to want to got beyond the numbers for level One.

I don't want a multi-level list - I want the numbering in the headings.

 

How do I achieve this?

I am running Windows 8 Home Premium and I installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 years ago from a CD back when I had XP or Vista.  The case says it will license 3 home PCs".  What does that mean?  So, I have Works Word Processor, Works Spreadsheet, Works Database, Office Word 2007, Office Excel 2007, Office PowerPoint 2007, and Office OneNote 2007.  The later four will all open and function appropriately.  The first three will not open and if I try to use a template I get this error message:  There was a problem reading one of the files needing to open this task.  To fix the problem, please re-install Microsoft Works.  Has anyone experienced this and were you able to successfully re-install it?  I'm worried I will mess this all up.

Yes, I am not getting lot of errors in application log. only WARNING ERRORS.

ims crashes starting every night around 1.30 am to 7.00 am and them it will
be fine for a while.

1) I am doing a exchange directory and information store backup every day
around 9.00 pm and it finishes 11 pm.

2) I even clear in and out que and renamed que.dat to que.old and restarted
ims. but no luck. It hapens every night.
