Which languages (including AutoCorrect) does Office XP include? Posted: 29 Aug 2004 02:31 PM PDT Greek-language proofing tools are not included with Office XP. You have to get the Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack described in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=291130. "Jenoudi" wrote: |
How can I run the initial office wizard to set up my account Posted: 29 Aug 2004 12:03 AM PDT If you wish to keep the modified dates of yr email, important for archiving, Export from OE to OL. Posted: 28 Aug 2004 11:54 PM PDT Hi Stephen, Findfast was discontinued after Office 2000 and didn't run on Windows 2000. It's possible that Office has activated the Windows Indexing Service for Office 'Fast Searching' http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282106&FR=1 Disabling or uninstalling the Windows XP Indexing Service component is one of the 'common' tweaks suggested for some speed improvement. http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak545.aspx ====== <<"John Smith" <com> wrote in message news:u%fYc.11879$bigpond.net.au... Posted: 28 Aug 2004 10:35 PM PDT Q. How many times can I install Office 2003 Editions? A. You can install one copy of Office Professional Edition 2003, Office Small Business Edition 2003, and Office Standard Edition 2003 on your main computer and another on your laptop computer for your exclusive, but non-concurrent use. To install a version of these Office 2003 Editions on more than these two computers, you must obtain another license for the program. You can install Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 on up to three computers in your household if a household member is qualified. You can work with Office 2003 Editions at your desk and when mobile. Note: Licenses for the 2003 release of Office acquired preinstalled on new computers are single-computer licenses that cannot be transferred or installed on another computer. Source: http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/faq.mspx (look under "Installation and Compatibility") Q. Does Microsoft require product activation for Office 2003 Editions? A. Yes. You need to activate the software by providing your country/region name and product identification number, but you don't have to provide any personal information (such as a name or telephone number). Learn more about product activation: http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/activation.mspx Source: http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/prodinfo/faq.mspx (look under "Installation and Compatibility") Product activation should start automatically when you run any Office 2003 Professional Application for the first time. As long your copy of Office 2003 is genuine and has only been installed on the number of computers mentioned in it's license agreement without going over, then you should be fine. How to remove and resell Office XP Pro OEM Posted: 28 Aug 2004 10:35 AM PDT Steve Cohen wrote: Sure you can sell it - but you'd have to sell your computer too. Doesn't anyone read EULAs anymore?! Let me assist you: - " Software as a Component of the Computer - Transfer. THIS LICENSE MAY NOT BE SHARED, TRANSFERRED TO OR USED CONCURRENTLY ON DIFFERENT COMPUTERS. The SOFTWARE is licensed with the COMPUTER as a single integrated product and may only be used with the COMPUTER. If the SOFTWARE is not accompanied by HARDWARE, you may not use the SOFTWARE. You may permanently transfer all of your rights under this EULA only as part of a permanent sale or transfer of the COMPUTER, provided you retain no copies, if you transfer the SOFTWARE (including all component parts, the media, any upgrades, this EULA and the Certificate of Authenticity), and the recipient agrees to the terms of this EULA. If the SOFTWARE is an upgrade, any transfer must also include all prior versions of the SOFTWARE." So no, you may not sell Office, unless you also sell the system. In addition, even if that copy of Office had been retail you could not have sold it as the licence would have been absorbed into the upgrade, so if you wanted to sell XP, you couldn't, unless you sold 2003 along with it. -- My great-grandfather was born and raised in Elgin - did he eventually lose his marbles? |
Posted: 27 Aug 2004 08:34 AM PDT Ted Bealmear, As stated you must activate or the software will time out and go into reduced functionality mode. Student/Teacher 2003 allows for 3 installations on 3 different machines. If you ever have to reinstall on the machines it was installed on you may have to use the phone method to re-activate Office. Read your eula. Two configurations for Office ? Posted: 27 Aug 2004 02:08 AM PDT To put things as simply as possible: I use Word and Excel without hardly any customization. OTOH, my wife uses lots of toolbars and hence needs the document to appear on the screen in very small fonts. So, would it be possible to have one shortcut for "my" Excel (like straight out of the box) and another one for "hers", with all of her customizations?
