As far as I'm aware transfer wizard acts on files only.
When you install an app it applies/registers numerous settings in the
registry these you cannot copy, leastways not in the way you wish.
If you cannot locate yr QP you can allways ebay for one, or borrow. I should
point out that yr Licence for the OfficeXP upgrade requires that you have
the QP.

Hello Bob,

First thanks for the information! I tried this and was
not successful; the print setup is still not in place. I
can see were a port was created but the printer is not.
When trying to select the Image Writer using the advance
option, the setting is already selected; however the
results are not as expected.

Do you have another suggestion?

Thanks again!

Changing Font Sizes in MS CRM

Posted: 01 Mar 2004 07:04 AM PST

You can change a setting in the web.config file that will prevent the
IE buttons from being hidden. However, this will probably cause
confusion for your users as there will be 2 sets of menus & toolbars.

If you really need to change the font sizes, you should be able to do
this by modifying the CSS for the app. Otherwise, you'll need to make
changes to the underlying XSLT files which would be a pain and would
need to be replicated everytime you published form changes.

Yes, that works for the accessing the web client, but you need to do a

CRM 1.2 very strange error!

Posted: 27 Feb 2004 08:59 AM PST

Dean,

When you install CRM, the user you are currently logged in as is
automatically added as a user in CRM. However, it is NOT assigned a
license. If you go into the web app and into the system settings, you
should be able to find this user in the root business unit and then
assign it a license and appropriate roles (though it should alread
have sys admin).

However, I made a new user, gave it sys admin and gave it
a license. If I log into that account, I can run the CRM

One more quick question... I believe CRM 1.2 can integrate
between Exchange server and the clients can use Outlook to
access all the CRM functions. Am I correct? If this CRM
can work with Exchange and Outlook, where can I read about
how to do it?

Checkboxes & multivalues

Posted: 27 Feb 2004 07:15 AM PST

Yes, multi-select boxes would be nice. (And I think I
read some ISV had it.) But, I think you'll find that
booleans are not a bad way to go here. The problem with
multi-select is that it is hard to extract data from.
(The best storage model appears to be using bitmasks, but
that is tough to query on too.)

You can sell it to users by saying that if you implement
as booleans, then you can easily write an Advanced Find
query to "show me everybody who needs SQL Server and
VB.NET".

If you just create a new section or a new tab on an
opportunity form, slap half a dozen booleans in it, the
users will be fine with it. In fact, most users prefer
multiple booleans to a list box. It is usually faster to
click a bunch of buttons that are in your face, rather
than pore through a list of choices, holding down the
ctrl key to click, etc.

Another way to look at it: Do you want to know anything
else about their need? In other words, make EACH of them
a pick list, and have values like "Must have, Nice to
have, Not important", etc., which would allow you to
retain more information about the need.

Finally, if this is going to turn into some kind of sale
of these products, you could add each one they were
interested in as an opportunity product. (Although that
is a very ugly part of the GUI.) HTH.

can't open CRM user manager

Posted: 26 Feb 2004 04:43 PM PST

You need to set your IIS to host your CRM on port 80, IP have to be set "all
unassigned" to make the user manager work.
I reinstalled my SQL and CRM, now everything works.
Make sure all your SQL server related services starts with a "Domain user
account", Not the "local machine", Microsoft suggest you to create a user
with special permission for this. You can find more information on the SQL
books online.
Also if you running SBS 2003, because you running asp.net 1.1, and your CRM
is 1.0. You need to add "validaterequest = "off" " under the pages setting
in the web.config file.
Good luck

Why did you Zip your resume theirs no need to. Just save
it to floppy or CD-R/RW. XP has its own Zip utility
built int you should be able to just click on the file
and XP should open it. Or you will need WinZip at
www.winzip.com. You don't really need to zip Works or
Word files.

Works won't print

Posted: 01 Sep 2004 05:39 PM PDT

Thank you for your suggestion, but the only drivers
available are on the XP disk.
Older printers are considered dead, so no updates
available for XP!
We just wondered why the printer works with WordPerfect 12
but not the Works 7.0 or Works 2000.
Tech support @ Windows doesn't have a clue either.
Suggested new printer.

Works 6.0 Problems after Installing SP2

Posted: 01 Sep 2004 07:44 AM PDT

Barry, I have read where SP2 can cause problems with a number of programs,
but haven't heard of anyone else having problems with Works. Never the less
it is not uncommon for MS to issue a patch that fixes one problem, only to
create another. Some advise waiting for MS to work out the bugs before
applying any new patch because of this. Here is a link that might give you
insight as to why you are having problems even though Works is not listed.
Hope this helps. DavidF

Outlook 2002 to Works 7

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 06:28 PM PDT

Hi Irish,

Perhaps,

In Outlook, use the File Import and Export wizard to output
to a file.

Choose Comma Separated Values (CSV)

Works Address Book has the import option to import
Other Address Book. Thereafter choose Text file (CSV).

Works 7.0: Restrict app to use one spreadsheet at a time

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 05:15 AM PDT

Rob, If I understand your question correctly, this is one of the
'improvements' of the versions since 4.5. In 4.5 you could open multiple
files under one instance of Works, while the new versions require separate
instances of Works. Don't throw away your copy of 4.5 as you may find that
generally 4.5 was the best version of Works...especially with merging from
the database. DavidF

Works 7.0: Save As... keep exisiting file name

Posted: 31 Aug 2004 05:13 AM PDT

Hi Rob,

Perhaps keep a .txt file on your Desktop, open at the start of a session
and retain on the Taskbar.

The contents of this file is the name of the file you wish to save, or part
thereof.

Copy and paste into the dialog box, amending as and when required.

Also, keystroke recorders/macro recorders can do the same thing for
you at a single key press.

Works Calendar 8 stalls on start

Posted: 30 Aug 2004 06:38 PM PDT

Hi Mike,

Perhaps replace the MsWksCal.wcd file with a fresh copy from
the Works CD, unchecking the Read-Only option, found on the
file>right/click>properties dialog box.

Before proceeding, save a copy of current file as MsWksCal.Old.

If it is possible, can you post that file to me, assuming it is not full
of private and confidential/personal appointments etc. I can then
investigate the cause of the problem for you.

Now, having saved a renamed copy of the previous file, you may
proceed as follows:

1. Insert the Works installation disc, and then press SHIFT to
prevent Setup from starting.

Note If Setup starts, exit Setup.

2. On the desktop, double-click My Computer.

3. Locate the Mswkscal.wcd file on the Works CD.

The default location of the Mswkscal.wcd file on the Works CD:

drive :\MSWorks\Common\CommApp\mswkscal.wcd

where drive is the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive.

4. Select the Mswkscal.wcd file, and then press CTRL+C to copy
the file to the Clipboard.

5. Locate the file MsWksCal.wcd on your hard disk.

the default location of the MsWksCal.wcd file on the hard disk is in the
following locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Works

NOTE: The Application Data folder is hidden by default. Go to
Tools->Folder Options->View->Show Hidden files and folders

6. When you have located the Mswkscal.wcd file on your hard disk, select
the file, and then press CTRL+V to replace the file with the version
that you copied from the Works CD-ROM.

Note When you are prompted with the question, "Are sure that you want
to over-write the file", click Yes.

7. Make sure that the new version of Mswkscal.wcd is not read-only: Use
Windows Explorer to locate the file, right-click it, click Properties,
and then clear the Read-only check box.

Restart Calendar.
