I created a survey that is mostly in text boxes (except for name/email address at the top). I have both plain text content controls and drop down content controls within the text boxes. In editing restrictions, when I check fillable form, it will only let me type the person's name/email address at the top(not in a text box) and when I check comments, it will only let me edit/choose the drop-down content controls and not the plain text content controls. I have not put any restrictions on formatting. Is there any way I can make the editing restrictions so the clients can only type name/email at top, select option from drop down and type in plain text content controls?

I am working on a large word file (75 MB/611 pages) with a high number of photos and text boxes.  I saved the file and now cannot reopen it.  I am getting the error" The name in the end tag element must match the element type in the start tag".  I tried the MS fixit program however it was not able to run on my computer.  Addtionally I purchased a on-line recovery program and it has failed to repair the document as well.  Hope someone on here might be able to help me fix the file.

How do I stop the style list floating (MSW2007)

I am using Word 2007.  When I used it under XP I could bring up the style list onto the window and it would stay fixed.  It did not float, and. more importantly, it did not obscure any of the text in the document. Under W7 it floats.

How do I get the XP effect - non-floating, non-obscuring?

I want to create a macro that will go through an entire document and show me each misspelled word so that I can take action about it (e.g., correct it or add it to the dictionary).  I am obviously too lazy to search the documents, which tend to be large, manually for misspellings.

How would I do that?

2010 Word opening screen is from the File tab and none of the Home page taskbar items show. If I click on Home page tab everything shows but I cannot type of that page....

2010 Word opening screen used to default to the Home view, now it comes up as the File view with no task tabs showing such as Bold, Underline, etc.

When I click on the Home page, the task bar items are there as always but now I cannot type on that screen (can type of the File screen).  How can I change this?

I am using Windows 7 and Word 2010.  When I hover over an inline comment or a footnote, the text does not display as it did in Word 2007.  Is there any setting that is preventing the display of the comment/footnote text when hovering over it?  Thanks,

Styles Question

In a document I just created I have two footnotes.   Ordinarily I have Word (Styles, Options) display only styles In use or In Document since IMHO the other couple thousand built-in styles (ok, maybe there are a mere hundred or so) are inscrutable and just get in the way.  After creating the footnotes I tried to edit the footnote style to change the line spacing.  But the Footnote Text style did not show up in styles In Use or In Current Document.  This makes no sense because I can see the footnotes and therefore the footnote text style has to be In Use or In Current Document or, more logically, in both!.  So I changed my Options to All Styles, quickly found and edited Footnote Text as I wanted.  No problem.  Then I switched my Options back to In Use but the style disappeared!  (Not the footnotes, of course, or their modified formatting, just the style name in the display).  I see the same thing with the Options set to In Current Document.  What this about?  What must I do so that a style I have in my document is, well,  In Current Document or a style I have in use in that document shows up as In Use?  Or are these terms--In Use and In Current Document--intended to have meanings unrelated to those words?  Hardly a mission-critical issue but it seems bizarre.

Copying deleted text (comment not a question)

If you try to copy text deleted with track changes you get "The section is marked as deleted text" and nothing gets to the clipboard. This is very unhelpful. We should be able to copy text marked for deletion regardless of track change status. e.g. if the selection includes some deleted text then copy final text (as is what already happens) but if all deleted text (as must fire unhelpful message) then copy original.

Each office product should have a direct feedback link within the "contact us" section, not buried in a site predominantly built for searching. I have several product specific suggestions. Maybe MS doesn't want to hear it, and I don't really want to spend the time to provide it, but with enough 'new feature' irritations to warrant rolling back to earlier rather than later MS products I'm getting close... if I thought MS would listen?!

Specifically, I would like to link several documents in Word 2010 by keyword(s) so that if I search for that keyword, I get all the relevant documents.

Do I need some kind of Access DB?

Word 2013 Print function, multiple copy request produces only 1 copy

In Word 2013 (RTM) when I request to print multiple copies (say 3 copies) of a document only 1 copy is printed.  ("File" > Print > copies: 3).

Is this a bug (likely) or a "configuration" option somewhere?

Blurry images and altered formatting when pasting from Powerpoint 2010 into Word 2010

Hi, I used to paste charts, tables, text, and other creations from powerpoint 2007 into word 2007 with no problem. I would paste special as enhanced metafile, and I would get a crystal clear carbon copy of exactly what the image looked like. Now I'm using 2010, and when I paste as enhanced metafile Word changes the formatting and especially the font so much that the image doesn't look good anymore. When I paste special as bitmap or png instead, then I get the correct font but the image becomes pretty blurry. 

I've tried changing the settings in both Word and Powerpoint to "do not compress images in file", but that hasn't had an effect.

Does anyone have a solution to this? There's got to be some kind of fix.

I have Windows XP Service  Pack 2; and Word 2010 suddeny now takes forever to locate my printer print a page.  This problem has only appeared in the last two  weeks.

Troubleshooter suggests WINWORD incompatioble.

What should I do please?

64-bit Web Apps Frustration

OK, this is less of a question and more of a general annoyance I have with Web Apps. I know it's been said elsewhere on here, but I find it absolutely aggravating that Microsoft Web Apps cannot play along with the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office. If I had known this was going to be such a problem, I probably wouldn't have gone with the 64-bit version of the software in the first place. I just hope that with the new version of Office this problem is getting fixed.

So, I guess there is a question in here, will Office 2013 64-bit be compatible with Web Apps, or is it still going to have compatibility problems? I just find it frustrating that Microsoft can't get their products to work seamlessly with each other.

Hi, Forum. I havea jpeg that I've inserted into a doc. I want it to stay next to the paragraph that it relates to. Then, if and when more text is added above that paragraph,  I want the image to move down with it. Instead, new text pushes older text past my Jpeg, which stays in place. And consequently, the JPEG is next to words it doesn't fit. How can I fix it to the specific paragraph? I should add I'm trying to have the image off to the side of the page, rather than "in line" above or below the paragraph it illustrates.

I have been using endnote for referencing  in vancover style, and i' ve been using the cross reference option as well. But, as i insert cross reference, i ve to "control click" to see the endnote for which i ve done cross referencing. Now, can someone please tell me if there is an option to make the inserted cross reference of endnote to be visible at the same place, not after  the"contol click".

I'm trying to accomplish something via a Mail Merge and not sure if it is possible.

 

I want to use Mail Merge to generate meeting agendas.

 

Imagine a database with information like below:

 

1/8/12    Meeting Topic      Presenter 1      Duration 1

1/8/12    Meeting Topic 2   Presenter 2      Duration 2

1/20/12  Meeting Topic 3    Presenter  3     Duration 3

1/20/12  Meeting Topic 4    Presenter 4      Duration 4

 

 

So I'd like it to generate 2 pages for me (one for each date) and then dump the appropriate agenda contents onto each page.

 

I have the database connection setup fine, just need to figure out if Word can do this. Possible, or do I need to teach myself Access?

i've installed office 2013 recently and desperately i couldn't find the same mini toolbar in word 2013 that i have been accousted with in Word 2010.

the PROBLEM is that i am a translator and often i must "CENTER" some titles and wordy contents but despite dear word 2010 in new version ther is no center option in mini toolbar (it just appears when i right click in a table but not in normal) and with all my searches i couldn't find any way for customising mini toolbar :( .

now the question is how can i have my lovely center option in mini toolbar of Word 2013 and WHY IN THE WORLD Microsoft has not consider the option of customising mini toolbar???

So my mum bought me and my sister netbooks for our christmas last year and also bought Microsoft office 2010 which was for 3 computers, once for each of us plus my mum. However, i began university and need to get a laptop practical for this, is there anyway i can delete the office from my netbook and make it available on the disc so i can put it on my new laptop?
(it was a package with not just word but mulit office tools such as excel etc.)

Everytime I try to print an envelope I get a message error "Number must be between 1 and 31". What does that mean??

 i bought a pc recently, with pre-installed microsoft office, then bought office 2010 license, and activated it. all was well until today morning, (just one month) i couldnt open any word/excel document. if i try it says,"preparing to install" then after a few seconds"satal error during installation " i have tried uninstallling microsoft office unsuccessfully.

I fogot that if you got a pc that came with a restore CD
all the programs might be compressed on that one CD and
when you use that CD it installs everything at once
including the OS. You could search for Works.Exe on that
CD and click on that file.

All 3 servers are at different locations and need to stay
that way to handle local mail. It is just the overall
domain structure that has to change. Currently I have
domains Dom1, Dom2 & Dom3, 1 for each location. I need to
merge all 3 into a new global domain Dom4.

I can build a new root domain (using a non-Exchange box) &
get all the Win servers on-board but I'm unsure about
moving each Exchg setup to the new domain.

Currently each Excg has its own legacy "mail domain" ie
company.com, company.com, etc. I'm
not sure if this can continue with the new structure or if
all 3 Exchg's will "merge" into a single Directory?

Thanks, however this is not the issue I am having. I can see the
attachments in Outlook but not OWA. And it is not all attachments. I think
that It may be the equivalent of URL scan. It seems like attachments with _
in the filename are getting axed in OWA. Problem is I cannot figure out how
to adjust these settings in 2003.

Any Ideas?

I am using the DaclWebTemplate mask templates . I am trying to set all
permissions provided in this template. The Write owned objects, Delete
owned objects and View item permissions are what seem not to be setting
properly. The problems are as follows:
1) The "View items" permission is reading that both deny and allow bits are
set.
2) Can change the View items to allow only if I deselect the deny check,
reselect the deny check and then select the allow check.
3) The Write and Delete owned objects will not set. Currently it reports
that they are both set to deny. I set them to allow and reload the user ACEs
and the change did not take as they are both set to deny again.

The code I am using to set these checkboxes is as follows:

I've got a site set up exactly how you want, one e-mail server at either
site but e-mail is only sent and received via one site and then it forwards
it to the other site, both site same address formats. Cant remember exactly
off top of my head how we did it but im 99% sure we used site connectors,
and when we originally configured it we ran both SMTP and X400 and we gave
one site a diff OU1 now just SMTP. Ill look next time i log on to that

I am having a problem printing a Word Document that contains email addresses. The document prints but omitts the email addresses even though they show in the color blue on the print preveiw screen. Help?????

Dopo una estensiva pulizia, allapertura di un documento office (7), mi appare il seguente avviso: "Impossibile avviare il programma perché DCIMAN32.dll non è presente nel computer. Per risolvere il problema, provare a reinstallare il programma." Poi, alla chiusura dell'avviso, il file mi si apre. Sembra essere un errore di winword.exe. Non so cosa fare

The page printed out, says INSTALL NOW = 2 MB.  Is that the total size of MS Word 2010, and do I Burn the installation file onto a CD?  My Hard Drive has a DVD section and a USB Port.  Where do you put the CD into?

I keep getting this error message in Microsoft Office 2007 Home & Student: Your AutoCorrect file, C:Users\HP_Administrator\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\MSO1033.ad, could not be saved. The file may be read-only, or you may not have permission to modify the file.

 

I get this same message in Word and Excel.

The purpose of the logging and auditing is to show failures and successes.

The usual problem with updates failing to install is PFR's (Pending file

A reboot will replace all the PFR's on shutdown, and then the next time the
update is applied it succeeds.
You should keep your log with all it's failures and successes, so you can
track down a problem in the future if you need to.
