Internal error 2349 when installing Office

Posted: 21 Apr 2004 08:50 AM PDT

The error message I received was different in that it did
not include "Copy resumed with different info". Instead
it said "Contact product support". So perhaps it is not
the exact same problem.

I'd be willing to try Solution 329386 which instructs to
install with a CD-ROM drive. But, my Dell has a CD-RW
drive so I'm confused as to how I'd come up with a CD-ROM
drive.

I have the office disc but there is no product key >:(

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried this and also all
the latest windows installer updates but still have the
same problem. I have my hard drive backed up from a little
while ago before this staretd and have tried restoring
almost all of it but that hasn't worked either. Does
anyone know where the damaged files are kept so that I can
look for those specifically on the backup?

Office 2003 went into a very limited function Mode

Posted: 19 Apr 2004 09:26 AM PDT

Thank you Milly Staples. Your suggestion worked. It was what I needed to get things working again.
The procedure did cause me some problems because some things would not let me delete. There is just a smal note in that document that you cannot have any parts of the program running in the background. Finding those was not very easy
Once I got the files and folders all removed. When I reintalled everything worked like it was suppose to with the proper screens to register
What just got me was that I pretty much new what the problem was from the start but I could not get one of Microsofts Gold OEM companies to believe what I was telling them and just being told "They had never seen a problem like this before". It took a lot of forceful talk to get them to realize the problem and to get them to own up to the problem once I found what the problem was and the solution you provided. I sure hope others have not had to spend the hours and frustration I have had to go through on such a small problem everyone in a service department should know about with with regards to what happens and how to correct a problem if something goes wrong with a License proceedure in Microsofts software.
Again Thank You for all your information and help. I hope to consider this problem closed.

Re-installing Office 2000 Pro

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I went to the address given below and
followed the instructions. The solution was so simple.
I am sorry I did not respond earlier. The solution was
to load the 2nd disk on a cd rom - NOT on a RW-rom. I
put the 2nd disk in the old rom drive. It booted
immediately, worked a few minutes, and said "DONE". My
publisher was back, my clipart, and most of all-my sanity.

Thanks again, so very much.

Oh P.S., in the second paragraph in my previous message.
If you make the user a PowerUser and put in the CD, when
you are finished, log back on as Admin and take away the
PowerUser status, and it still works. The install error
doesn't come up for that user anymore even tho' he/she is

Further confusion arises:
Does it mean "package includes JRE", or "Windows which already has the

I'm sure context is everything, but a few more words wouldn't go amiss.

Bug with customize isv.config and publish customizations

Posted: 27 Jan 2004 02:23 PM PST

You need to check your server as there are probably more than one isv.config
on your crm server as per this article

TechKnowledge
Changes to ISV.Config File Are Overwritten

Printable Link
Email this link

Document ID: 32010
Date Created: 7/21/2003
Date Last Modified: 7/22/2003
Language: English - United States
Country: USA
Product: Microsoft CRM
Versions: 1.0
Modules: Microsoft CRM SDK

Issue

Customizations to the ISV.CONFIG file located in the
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\_Resources folder have been made and the ISVIntegration
flag set to "On" in the WEB.CONFIG file. After Resetting IIS, the
ISV.CONFIG file reverts back to its orginal state.

Potential Cause

There is an ISV.CONFIG file in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft
CRM\Tools\Config folder.

Resolution

Remove the old ISV.CONFIG file.

1. Restore the ISV.CONFIG file in the
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\_Resources folder with the desired customizations.

2. Rename or delete the ISV.CONFIG file in the C:\Program
Files\Microsoft CRM\Tools\config folder.

Auto-Uploading Attachments

Posted: 27 Jan 2004 02:23 PM PST

Yep... And I've even talked to MS about it. You see - the idea is for my
application to create an xml attachment, and autosend an email, with the
attachment, to a queue.

The problem is, their described method means that a web page will need to be
created, the user select the file to attach, and manually attach it. That
is not what I am looking to do - the users do not have access to the
attachments as they are created on the fly on the CRM server itself.

MS told me I can update the attachment mime table with the file I want to
upload converted to binary.... but the field that holds the file is text
(body). Something just isn't adding up....

Thanks
Kristina

Everyone here has told me no. I have the same issue.

The response I received about this is:

1) Put your related data in a separate database, and
store the id of the
associated MSCRM object in your DB so that you can match
them up.

-or-

2) Use an existing entity as something else. But yes,
you run the risk that
you may need this feature in the future. MS may also add
the feature you
need, or allow you to add your own entity.

methods for both (e.g. CRMAccount.Assign,

Still when talking about businessobject.Assign method

Can you or can you not Assign business object to the Team?

MSCRM 1.x and its current state

Posted: 27 Jan 2004 06:51 AM PST

Jiho, you have some good points, but I think you have some things to learn
about MSCRM as well.

The ASP.NET component model is a really handy, fast way to build web apps,
using things like post-backs and viewstate. It's makes a developers job
much easier at the cost of gerneralization and page bloat. Obviously you
can get higher performance by writing your own handler model that trims out
all the generic stuff you don't need. CRM doesn't make use of the postbacks
or bloated viewstate model, it uses it's own, efficient posting model. This
is a good thing, not a bad thing. MS actually took the time to build a more
efficient, app specific model for MSCRM.

Yes, iFrames cause more hits on the web server, but they also prevent having
to reload other sections of the page when you are simply scolling through
view data. If you get further under the covers of MSCRM, you will notice
the content of navBar tabs is gerneally only loaded as they are accessed as
well. This makes screens load faster, and prevents loading and re-loading
data unecessarily. It's a briliant model, and my bet would be that it
transfers far less data and produces faster overall page loads and
scalability than you would get by loading all form data at once, and
re-loading entire pages everytime you just want to scroll a view.

Were you printing in draft quality when the grid lines failed to
print, and then didn't check that box when they did print?

It seems that when you print in draft quality, the grid lines don't
show up because of the lower resolution. It might be nice if they
mentioned this when they gave you the "draft quality" option, but
there you go.

Why draft quality increases the size of the font is, of course, one of
those mysteries which will forever resist solution.

G'day Dawn,

Using a little legerdemain, of course you can!
In fact I have used it for years, however I have the Platinum Model
(MSWorks 4.5a)
I would not be sure if this works with the Mickey Mouse Versions.

Navigate to
C:\Program Files\MSWorks\TEMPLATE
Create a shortcut onto the desktop
Create a novel Icon for it and then move the shortcut
down into the bottom Task Bar.

Voila!

Hence forward any "User Defined" templates that you engineer
will be accesible by a one click!
No need to be in Works at the time
You can add / delete / backup these templates at random

Works and Excel

No. Works is limited to one sheet per file.

Works is a low end, low cost package aimed at home users and some small businesses.

Office (including Word, Excel, Access) is a high end, high cost package aimed at
businesses and power users.

The advantages of Works are low cost, and due to reduced functionality, less complexity.
The price you pay is less functionality and some compatibility issues.

problem with uninstalling a software

Posted: 11 Jun 2004 12:46 AM PDT

Are you trying to uninstall Works? If not you might want
to try one of the Microsoft Newsgroups if its a different
Microsoft program. Or go to the programs web site and
choose their support page.

was unable to do so.
doesn't go. Does someone have any solution to such errant
softwares that just wouldn't let go of one's PC.

A CHOOSE command

Posted: 10 Jun 2004 02:54 PM PDT

Hi Dave,

CHOOSE easily offers you options, where a single choice value
is paired/matched with the corresponding ordered option value.
The first option is zero-based !

=CHOOSE(thisOptionNumber,Option0,Option1,Option2, ... )

=CHOOSE(A2,B2,B3,B4,"N/A") will return the contents of cell
B2 (the option) should cell A2 (the choice) contain the value 0
B3 should cell A2 contain the value 1
B4 should cell A2 contain the value 2
or "N/A" should cell A2 contain the value 3

However, it will return ERR if the value of A2 is less than 0, or greater
than (the number of options - 1).

The IF function offers options based on a result you may care to
construct with or without nested IFs. The values need not be in
numerical order and complex formulae may be constructed

= IF(aCondition, IsTrue_ThenUseThisValue,Otherwise itsFalse_UseThisValue)

A Simple Unnested Formula:

=IF(NumberInClass>25,"Overcrowded","Bliss")

where Number inClass is a named cell that holds
a value for the number of children in a class.

Nested Formula:

say, Cell A1 is named: NumberInClass
Cell A2 is named: Weather

then this formula, in cell B2 gives a teacher some idea of the day ahead !

=IF(AND(NumberInClass<25,Weather="Sunshine"),"Blis s",IF(NumberInClass>35,"Overcr
owded",IF(Weather="Sunshine","Move Lessons Outdoors","Challenging")))

Therefore, perhaps,

=IF( IF_Works, ContinueToUse, TryCHOOSE )

PRINTING WP FILE CONTAINING GRAPHICS

Posted: 09 Jun 2004 02:04 PM PDT

Hi Jay,

Perhaps, to print, break the document into a number of
(much) smaller documents ?

You may save embedded pictures from within a Works
document by right-clicking the picture and select copy.

Paste this into a photo-manipulating application.

Changing Computername - Exchange 5.5 side effects?

Posted: 04 May 2004 07:51 AM PDT

Yikes!

If you rename an Exchange 5.5 Server then you will find that the
msexchangeds service will fail to start afer its rebooted. This is because
the dir.edb (the directory) has the SID for that computer account hard
coded into it. So if you rename the computer you will get a new SID and as
a result the Directory Service won't start. There is know way to get the
directory service to start unless you rename the computer back to its
original name.

The easiest way to do what you want to do is to install a new server into
the same site as the existing server (with the new name that you need to
implement) and then move mailboxes over to this server. At a later stage
you can then rehome any public folders, system folders, & connectors to this
new server and then decommission the old server.

Hi!

We are planning to change the computername on one of ours Exchange 5.5
servers. How will Exchange react to this and what should we do to fix the
side effects?
We have to do this since the customer has naming convetntions that has to
be followed.

Cheers!
Christian

Exch. 5.5 to Exch. 2003 question

Posted: 03 May 2004 01:41 PM PDT

It is highly not recommended to perform in-place upgrade from E55 to E2K
and then to E2K3. Better borrow hardware, introduce second E55 server,
move mailboxes there, properly decommission original machine, install
W2K3 and E2K3 on that hardware, move mailboxes, decommission
intermidiate E55 and be done with it.

I really don't think it is a virus causing the transaction

The problem began when the backup software and some compaq

Ex2K OWA access help...

Posted: 02 May 2004 11:02 PM PDT

If the problem is only effecting users in specific OU's then its possible
that the Exchange Enterprise Servers does not have permissions set on these
OU's and hence the Recipient Update Service cannot stamp the users located
in those OU's.

Run through http://support.microsoft.com/?id=297124 to see if this is the
problem.

I've narrowed my problem down a bit more.
So I am still unable to get new users to connect to Exchange 2000 OWA,
however I believe the problem may be related to the users location in Users
and groups, please read on.

Here's the scenario.
Users that are created under the default AD USERS container are able to
connect to OWA just fine.
However I've created several other containers for organisation called...
C1
C2
C3
any users that I create in here are unable to connect to OWA.

I guess the question is what would be the difference between a user with
Domain\User rights, created in the default USERs container and a new
Container?

Any help greatly appreciated.
T.
