Install of CRM1.2 on SBS2003 Prem. Ed. SP1 failed (Full Text Index

Posted: 23 Aug 2005 07:16 AM PDT

Hello David,
thanks for your reply!

I looked into the Enterprise Manager under Support Services and there did
not appear a Service as Full Text Search.
Therefore i took a look at the installation of SQL 2000, but I can´t find an
option for installing only this service. Have you any idea, where I can do
this?

Thanks!

Is there some place I can see the changes that well be in v 3.0. We have a
customer that is also evaluating MSCRM and I want to let them know of the
changes.

Thanks

Change contacts to another user

Posted: 22 Aug 2005 03:36 PM PDT

Thanks for the reply. I've been using the method below, but my client
recently gave me several hundred zip codes. That's a long process.

Is there a more effiecient way?

I have a copy of the implementation toolkit but it does not have any porject
templates. The template is an excel worksheet with embedded files. If you
want it let me know and I will get it to you. Let me know the best way to
do this

Delete ALL contacts?

Posted: 22 Aug 2005 01:43 PM PDT

If you have done the migration some time ago already, you might have found
some fields which you do not want to have in crm anymore. This is a good
change to reinstall the whole product and start from a clean point again.

If you want to continue working with this installation, and there are way to
many contacts to use matt's solution, then you might want to change the
deletestatecode in the database for every contact to 2. This will tell the
deletion service to delete all the contacts including their references.

Hope this helps,

FOR MS: Please Change CRM 3.0 System Requirements

Posted: 19 Aug 2005 08:00 AM PDT

Lighten up dude.

Recommended is different than required.

However, I would point out that a technology professional that does
not point their client to this recomendation for a disk configuration
is underserving that client. The ugly fact with a SBS configuration
is that because you have put ALL the apps on 1 server you are at much
greatre risk of catstrophic failure than a non SBS environment. So you
should build these additional redundancies into the systems. Else 1
failure will mean that the company may go days without access to
Accounting, CRM or LOB production apps.

So if they are down for 1 day in a 3 year period tell me how you saved
them 900 bucks by not including a disk array in the configuration. I
dont think you did.

Logon failed

There's more to deleting a user than removing the record from the table, you
also need to clear out the AD groups that the user is assigned to. Manually
changing the data as you did won't work as there are ties to the SID's from AD
in the database that you didn't change and there are security hooks that weren't
updated.

Hi,

I've installed the CRM software and everything is working fine.

However, I've created a user, which I deleted afterwards (yes, I went into
the SQL database and deleted the record from systemuserbase, along with it's
references).
I then tried creating a new entry in the webpage, with the old logon
account, the system returned "user already exists".
So, I then created the same CRM user on another active directory account,
and went into the SQL database again to set the logon account to the first
account.

When the user tries to logon, the system says that the user is deactivated
or has no license (which is not the case).

I added the original account to the corresponding MSCRM group in active
directory, but the problem remains.

My guess is that there is still a reference somewhere to the internal active
directory userID.

Is there a way to solve this or do I have to reinstall?

Thanks,

AS400 Integration

Posted: 19 Aug 2005 04:57 AM PDT

We developed an integration using BizTalk to integrate account and order
infromation from a back-end system on the 400 with CRM. Can't really provide
you any of the tools we've developed though as that is out intellectual capital.

Matt,
This is great, could you please send me a short e-mail with a short
description of your scenario? the reason I ask this is that I have a rather
important meeting next week with a customer regarding implementation of MS
CRM and AS400 is a MSUT integration.
I would very much appreciate if we could leverage from your experience and
if you have already some tools if we could get our hanbds on it.
Thanks

Two Crm Servers

Another implication is that a user that needs access to both will require 2
licenses. fyi - on the email issue, if you are OK with outbound only email,
then you can get by with this. It's the inbound email that has trouble.

V3 Availability

Posted: 18 Aug 2005 06:35 PM PDT

If you currently own CRM 1.2 or 1.0 with current software assurance, you can
get CRM 3.0 in the 4th quarter of this year. New CRM customers will be able
to get 3.0 in the 1st quarter of 2006. Of course, these dates are Microsoft
dates, and subject to change.

There is a new post on my blog that has details about 3.0, as well as a post
from July (I think) that has links to on-demand webcasts with detailed demos
of CRM 3.0.

Data Migration Framework - inactive users?

Posted: 18 Aug 2005 12:48 PM PDT

I had a project with a similar problem. What happens is that all the
activities from the history end up looking like they belonged to the
administrator, since I had to assign ownership to someone. What I did was,
during the step where I was cleaning my data before importing it, I basically
duplicated the record owner row in the source data, then merged that into the
text field of the activity body, so that at least you could tell by reading
the activity who had previously owned it. Also, I added a field to the
contacts/leads/accounts called "Original Owner" or something along those
lines, and simply migrated the old owner's name as a string into that field.
Not the best scenario, but it worked well enough. Just one more thing to add
to your data scrubbing checklist before you import.

Hi John, (Sorry for writting Juhn before you can call me Divad if you like ;)

I found the solution, the CRM had been installed on port 99, I was unaware
of that and I was actually calling the intranet site. added :99 to the server
name and away she went.

Thankyou.

Workflow Rule using Email Template error

But you can send the email to the user without a template. Use the
unsupported - but safe and very useful - slugs approach.

Search the newsgroup (and/or archives) for "slugs" for details
