But I don't run KDE or Gnome or anything like that. And I can run any independent X app that's available, including many that are packaged with KDE, like kstars. And including any number of WYSIWYG editors. (I don't, because any text editor that requires the use of a mouse is garbage.) I use firefox all the time. And an excellent window manager (ratpoison). And xpdf. I also run a lot of console apps in 'xterm' because they are generally superior to the X apps that supposedly do the same job. Tom -- calhobbit (at) gmail [DOT] com |
Permissions on /dev/sd* devices Posted: 03 Feb 2008 07:39 AM PST RBasham wrote: Change the permission rules in /etc/udev/rules.d to add the GROUP permission. Because under udev (udevd) all devices are created dynamically. Doubt vmware will say anthing about it ... search for info about udev. You have to realize that a lot of things in Linux are written with the idea of: What would we do differently if we could rewrite it from scratch? That can be a key advantage for the new guy on the block. There are times when AIX's SVR2 roots show through. |

That word "almost" gets scary sometimes. :-) I don't have a printer on the box, so that shouldn't be an issue. So it's off to find a copy of Slack 12.
