Cannot add SMTP e-mail address to user Posted: 29 Nov 2005 03:00 PM PST A very easy way to do this is to go to AD Users & Computers, right-click on your Domain | Find | change the Find drop-down to "Custom Search" (you could also change the "IN" drop-down to "Entire Directory" if you have more than 1 domains) | go to Advanced tab | type "(proxyAddresses=smtp:com)". This will give you the object - of any type (user, group, contact, public folders... ) - that has that email address. No, the search is NOT case-sensitive, though email addresses (local-part) are case sensitive according to RFCs (but not all MTAs treat them as such). -- Bharat Suneja MCSE, MCT www.zenprise.com blog: www.suneja.com/blog ----------------------------------------- "Sean Vreeland" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |

Posted: 29 Nov 2005 06:45 AM PST What about the info within. I tried deleting one of the DL and got the message with the following check box "Mark each selected Exchange mailbox for deletion". Is it just talking about the mailbox (DL) that I'm currently deleting?? Tom Felts wrote: |
Posted: 29 Nov 2005 06:30 AM PST Well...do you actually have an Exchange Server? Are you really running Outlook on a Windows 2003 Server or did you mean this is a Windows XP box? -- Aloha, -Ben- Ben M. Probagating mailbox/inbox folder permissions Posted: 28 Nov 2005 03:33 PM PST In news:com, Bretto <microsoft.com> typed: In addition to Mark's reply, you could always grant full mailbox access to whomever you wish - it will, however, provide access to everything, not just the inbox/mail folders. |
Posted: 28 Nov 2005 02:01 PM PST Hi Mark, The smtp interface is listerning on "all unassigned", and when I telnet to 25 using either the ip or server name I get the message "esmtp mail service (followed by version #) ready at (date and time). "Mark Arnold [MVP]" wrote: |
Moving X2K3 from W2K server to W2K3 server Posted: 28 Nov 2005 01:07 PM PST At least you found the answer in the end. Hope it helps. |
Posted: 28 Nov 2005 10:59 AM PST i was looking at the information on your domain name, thinking somehow maybe the webminders name was setup for secondary mail server, but it doesn't look like it is with the same company. yes it would explain why you can send mail and not receive on the outside, there is a pointer for your email, but it's pointing in the wrong direction if your exchange server is named (for example) mail.dgbco.com then an mx record needs to replace the webminders address with mail.dgbco.com with your exchange server's ip being able to telnet on 25 to your server is good to know it's working. when someone on the outside sends you mail, it checks dns for the mx record for your domain, which currently is mx.webminders.com so it attempts to deliver the mail there; the other end doesn't know about your mail server. changing the mx record to your mail server will allow mail to go to you. this should explain it more http://www.han.com/dns.html HTH "instauratio" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... |
Restore Exchange 200 "Unable to create log path" message Posted: 28 Nov 2005 09:29 AM PST Okay - further developments. The DB's had never been created on the restore server, so I mounted them to create blank DB's, then dismounted and made sure the "overwrite with a restore" was checked. I can restore all DB's except for the MAILBOX STORE which returns another error, however as this DB has no mailboxes am I right not to be concerned about restoring this? We're doing this exercise to ensure we have a relativley up to date Exchange Server in the event of our production server failing, and also to test DR plans. "Leena" wrote: |
Multiple connections in virtual SMTP queue Posted: 27 Nov 2005 07:47 PM PST It should be in the 'Current Session' instead of the 'Queue'. Apologise for the error. THanks Des "Desmond" <com.sg> wrote in message news:dmdumv$l81$pacific.net.sg... |
Danger of running Treo 650, activesync without SSL Posted: 27 Nov 2005 12:44 PM PST I thought you had Standard Exchange Server. Well, in your case this should work. I have not had any issues with Activesync with Treos on the SBS. Do you a Root Certificate from Verisign or such? This should work for you so I am little confused now. Just for kicks, try leaving SSL enabled and disable Forms Authentication. Also check your Event Viewer for any related Activesync errors when this happens. -- John Oliver, Jr. MCSE, MCT, CCNA, Exchange MVP Microsoft Certified Partner "Fredly" <com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... |
