Are you sure? Many computer manufacturers are including trial versions
of Office 2003 with new computers sold at big-box stores, but they only
put full versions on custom-ordered computers when the customer pays
extra to get the full version. Did you actually pay an extra $200 to
$400 to get Office 2003?

Problems converting a trial version

Posted: 13 May 2005 12:48 PM PDT

Than you for trying to help but the article you pointed me to does not apply
to Office small business trial edition. It applies to:
• Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003
• Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
• Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003
• Microsoft Office OneNote 2003
• Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
• Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003
• Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

I made a search on: "How to convert an Office 2003 small business Trial
edition to a full retail edition" but it did not return anything.

My trial version must be convertible though because the button convert
exists and when I hit it it asks me for a key.

Rudy,
This is the link I have for XP:

It's easier to search for what you need on MS than to follow links. You'll
get a lot closer to what your looking for, faster...

How do I install Office assistant character? None on System:

Posted: 11 May 2005 05:38 AM PDT

Thanks garfield-n-odie. That explains very well what was occuring. I did have
an excel document open prior to opening Word 2003. Once I closed excel and
tried Word again the character came up and worked properly. Thank you for
that information. Very mhelpful indeed.

Lost Shortcut Icons in Program area of Start Menu

The Program area of the start menu does show either Office Programs, Excel,
Word or Publisher. With Office 2000 the three Word,Excel and Publisher were
present in the Program area of Start menu. I can call up a file and have each
program work properly just can't initiate the prgrams via the Start/Program
area.

Thanks for getting back. Yes, it Word that I'm referring to. What is the
easiest way to deploy the normal.dot template? We have around 700 computers
and over 2000 users (we are a school in case you're wondering).

Thanks,

In the Office File=>Open dialogs you can use

when you hit enter to present a tailored list.

Hi there,

I have 3 an installs of office xp (fully updated) that is causing us issues.

When opening a file (IE doc1.doc) and you start to type the name in the box
it would usually fill in the name automatically for you (similar to web
pages).
We have 10,000 documents in our folder and this function, however trivial,
is vital!

How/where can we re-enable this in office?

Thanks in advance

Where can I find the 25-digit product key for Office 2000

Posted: 08 May 2005 09:52 PM PDT

In article <googlegroups.com>,
com.hk writes
The installation of Office 2000 may well have left a couple of install
log files in ..\windows\temp, the file names would be something like :
"Office 2000 Professional Setup (0004)_MsiExec.txt"

Here on my system there is this file, and it contains the PID key that I
typed in when installing Off2k.
It's an entry, "Property(C): PIDKEY = (what I typed in)".

You may be lucky and find this on the system(s) in question, a text
string search for "PIDKEY" may do it.

Good luck
