Upgrade to Office 2003 Ptofessional

Follow the links to the Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles and read them. I would also recommend that you read
the migration issues document (XP-03Delta.doc) which I have also provided a link to.

As far as uninstalling or keeping Microsoft Office XP Professional with Microsoft FrontPage, this is up to
you. You should keep in mind that some things, such as the Office Shortcut Bar is NOT included in Microsoft
Office 2003 Editions. With this in mind, there is an alternative way to achieve something very similar in
Microsoft Windows. See the following links below.

What?? No Office Shortcut Bar for Office 2003?? Q & A

I would recommend that you keep your Microsoft Office XP Professional with Microsoft FrontPage CD (or CDs).
You never know if they might be needed in the future. This would also include any component or program that is
not included in Microsoft Office 2003 Editions, such as the Office Shortcut Bar.

And you are purchasing the FULL version of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003?

Anyway...
I don't know anything about Corporate Licensed Versions, however, I'm sure someone in this newsgroup can help
you there.

MS Office doesn't work after changing hard disc. Why?

Posted: 11 Sep 2005 11:10 AM PDT

Office does not like to be copied from one hard drive to another,
because that is one method a software pirate might use in order
to bypass the Office activation process. If you have your Office
CD and the 25-digit product key, then:
1. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290301 and install it.
2. Use the utility to delete the Windows Installer registry
entry for Office.
3. Reboot.
4. Uninstall Office by clicking on Start | Control Panel |
Add or Remove Programs | Microsoft Office | Remove.
5. Reinstall Office from the original CD.

Nothing in particular: It conflicts with two obvious junk mail parameters.
Firstly it uses the work MEDICATION in its subject matter and secondly it
comes from an obviously made-up name (no one in the real world has names
like Thaddeus Peck or Rubble M Smout: Thankfully the spammers are running
out of real-sounding names to use).

I should add that Outlook DOES delete it from my inbox and puts it into my
deleted items folder!

It does seem as if the spammer has found some way around an obvious email
rule but as it is deleting the message, I am not sure what the error
message is trying to tell me? (I stopped telling outlook to 'permanently
delete messages' years ago when I disovered that this part of a rule I
might create doesn't work)

From this message, I can only guess that you need to buy and install Office
2003. I was not aware of any variety of Office that has a free trial
period, but, if so, you really blew it by not paying for a permanent
version. The full blown version of Office which contains powerpoint, etc.,
is not inexpensive. The student versions of the Office products are much
less expensive, and you may qualify.

Revoked Admin role in CRM 1.2

Posted: 19 Jul 2004 10:02 AM PDT

Jouko,

You need to look at the following tables in the _MSCRM database:

SystemUserBase
SystemRoleBase
SystemUserRole

You basicall need to add a record to the SystemUserRole table to reflect the
proper user/role combination to put a user into that role.

Be very careful when editing this table as you can have unexpected results if
you modify the wrong record. I would highly recommend a complete DB backup
before doing anything.

Silly question time - what kind of licenses do you have? Workflow Manager
is available with Sales Professional, Customer Service Professional and
Professional Suite licenses. If you are using Sales Standard, Service
Standard or Standard Suite, then you will not have access to Workflow
Manager.

Failing that:

make sure the CRM Workflow service and CRM Security Service are started
make sure the user has the system admin role in the crm
make sure the user has local admin rights on the crm server.

Logo in emails

Posted: 19 Jul 2004 06:57 AM PDT

I found that it was a bit tricky to get the logo to send
through - I wouldn't use a .bmp because of the file size.
Use a gif instead if your logo has clean lines and only a
few colours (eg. a vector image). Use jpg if it is a
photographic type of image with full colour and lots of
detail.

The only way I could get it to work was to use an image
that resides on a web server. I designed the template as
I would like it to appear in a web page editor, and
linked the image using it's full http:// path. Then I
copied the web page content (not the raw HTML but the
formatted content), and pasted it into the email template
editor in CRM.

I'd suggest creating a directory on your web server to
store any graphics that you want to use in your email
templates - this is keeping with best practice as the
images won't be embedded in the emails themselves, but
will be downloaded when the user views the email which
means less download time (less inconvenience, happier
customers).

Story about the hassles of supporting CRM

Man, this should fuel some debate. It's an odd situation, and I think it's more
the fact that the store didn't take ANY action to warn it's customers, let alone
the ones it's frequent buyers.

It's sad to see that people in the UK are succumbing to the American "I'm not
reponsible for my actions" stance so I will sue someone. this lady suspected
she might have contaminated beef. I don't know about the rest of you, but I
think in that sutuation, the beef would have ended up in my garbage can rather
than risk my families life on the response from some overworked call center
person who was probably getting a LOT of calls.

But this does open the question: If I have the data available to me, am I
"required" to act upon that data? This case seems more cut and dry that they
"might" have been able to act upon the information (heck, evn a broadcast email
could have been sent, but that could have opened up the whole tarnished
repuation thing).

But what about the privacy concerns? If I use the data for something like this,
then the next time something comes up and I use it again, how long is it before
I've crossed the line on privacy?

It's obviously a serious matter and I certainly wouldn't want to have eaten

Mike;

How's the horsepower of the PC in question? I know the install of the MSDE
portion can take forever on some slower machines and the worst part is that
the installation screen disappears for a while during the switch between
installation routines. You will see no activity on the screen but the hard
drive will be churning. If this is what you are seeing, then let it go, go
grab a really big coffee and check it when you get back.

If not the above, then what version of Windows and Outlook are you running?
Does this PC currently have (or has it ever had) the SQL Client tools or
components installed? There may be some old registry values kicking around
that are confusing SQL. Also ensure that you are cleaning up the PC
properly after each failed installation of the SFO client (there are TK
articles that describe the details of what to delete).

CRM integration with a third-party application

Posted: 16 Jul 2004 01:01 PM PDT

Prasad,

I've done a few different projects that have used BizTalk to interface with CRM.
I think the key question you need to ask yourself is whether or not this is a
one time load or an ongoing integration need.

If this is just a one time load, then putting BizTalk into the mix will
complicate the process beyond what you want. Using something like the Data
Migration Framework would be easier for a load. However, if you need the
ongoing flow of data, then BizTalk is a good solution.

On the CRM side, it is fairly straight forward to setup a BTS wrapper that
communicates with CRM. With BTS2002, you will need to write an AIC that will
receive the message from BTS. The message format should match the CRM schema
for the object you are loading. I have often wrapped multiple CRM messages into
1 BTS message wrapper. Then the AIC will need to pull out the individualt
messages and then process them normally using the SDK calls into CRM.

existing sales and customer related data from Syspro to CRM.

I know that, writing the data directly into CRM tables is not a supported
action. Therefore, I am using Biztalk Server (BTS) 2002 to achieve the
integration. I have succesfully done following things so far:

1. Reading data from Syspro SQL table into BTS 2002 using BTS 2002 SQL Adapter
2. This data comes in BTS 2002 in XML format

Now, I am guessing that my next step will be to somehow convert this XML data
into a transation which is acceptable by CRM and then post it in CRM.

Am I moving in right direction?

Please let me know if anybody has any information on CRM Integration with

Does anyone know why my copy of Office 2013 365 Home adopts US English spellings in Word and OneNote but UK English in Power Point and Excel?

The Proofing and Language settings (Under File Options) are identical in all applications, the are set up for the UK.

I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean, using the word labor or labour as an example.

I have the same problem on my desktop (Win8.1) and my laptop (Win8) where all regional/language settings are for United Kingdom.

If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Many thanks,

Microsoft Account Expired?

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 11:52 AM PDT

Everytime I open something with Microsoft word, it is saying my account has expired. When I first got my computer I downloaded a free trial, but shortly after that I bought Microsoft and installed it. When I enter my email it says it's incorrect. I'm not sure how to get rid of the trial one so it stops saying it's expired.

From Word to Excel

Hello Everyone,

I seem to remember from previous versions of Microsoft word, one could import a word document into Excel.

However I cannot find that function in Microsoft Office 2010.

Any one got an idea please?

Create envelope/label mailings dialog very slow to open

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 11:08 AM PDT

I recently bought a new Windows 8 laptop and installed "Office Home & Business 2013" via download.  I've noticed that the first time I open the Create Envelope or Label dialog within a "Word 2013 session" it takes 20-30 seconds before the dialog box opens.  If I close the dialog and select it again the dialog box opens without delay.   My old computer had Windows 7 and Office 2003 installed and there wasn't any delay when  I opened the "create envelope" dialog.  I contacted Microsoft support twice.  The 1st time the delay was blamed on "click-to-run" and described as a feature.  The 2nd call blamed the problem on loading graphics.  I don't really accept either explanation (I don't see why the process would change that dramatically in the different versions, certainly not >20 seconds).  The new laptop has a faster processor, more memory (8GB) and a SSD.  This is the only performance problem I've discovered to date.  Any ideas?    I only print envelopes occasionally, but it is certainly annoying!

Rotate orientation of one or more pages in a document without inserting section break

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 09:20 AM PDT

Hi everybody,
Kindly tell me a way to rotate the orientation of one of more page in a document without inserting section break.
For example:
Document length: 160 Pages. Chapter 1 (Pages 1-30 portrait, pages 5, 17, 21 landscape) applied section break at the end of Chapter, Section 2 (Pages 31-60 portrait, pages 35, 47, 51 landscape). I want to insert separate bibliography for each chapter at the end of each chapter using Endnote software.
Problem:
Endnote software can either insert bibliography at the end of each section (section break), or at the end of whole document (I need to insert at the end of each chapter). However, upon rotating the page orientation of the aforementioned pages, section breaks are inserted automatically, and Endnote software inserts references after each section break, but not after each chapter.

I hope someone will offer me a solution for this problem.

I have to edit and revise a long 'Rules and Constitution' document which is currently in double column Word form.  I believe it's possible to put the original alongside the new document on one screen as I write the revision.

Is this possible and if so could somebody advise me how to do it please.

Format problem with Excel table link into Word

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 08:16 AM PDT

I'm using the 2010 suite an having a problem with a link.  I've linked an Excel table into Word that has 9 columns.  7 of the nine columns in Excel are formatted exactly the same.  For some reason 2 of the 7 columns are showing up in Word as 2 rows instead of one.  In other words it seems like Word thinks the columns are not wide enough and is breaking the row into 2 lines, which is stretching the table way longer than it is.  The Excel data is the same in the 2 columns as in the others, it is comprised of 4 numbers (1231 for example).  If I exaggerate the column width in Excel (I almost have to double it), then it works, but it makes the table too wide for the page and the table looks bad since the two columns are wider than the others.

Anyone have a solution that could help me?

Thanks.

Word 7 occasionally will not save a document

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 07:46 AM PDT

Now I notice, when I press "Save as," that the place at the bottom of the document that usually shows a green bar (to indicate that the document is being saved) has a red "x" with a circle around it.  Since I've had occasions when my changes weren't saved (even though I did save them!), I'm wondering if this red "x" is telling me why the changes aren't being saved.

Saving Word Documents Locally

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 05:31 AM PDT

I am using Office 2007 on Windows 8.1 - when I open Word and want to find a document, the default is to open, find or save the document on SkyDrive.  At this point I want to change the default to find or save or open to my local documents folder.  Is there a way to change the default so I am not going to SkyDrive but stay on my local computer?

How to set default file location to blank

Posted: 27 Oct 2013 02:18 AM PDT

How can I set the default file (save) location to blank?

Every time I clear the value and save, it reverts back to its previous value.

The reason, I want to do this is so that Word will use the last opened folder as  the save location for a new document.

eg When I clicked on insert image in this message box, it opened the last opened folder on my hard drive - which was the folder containing my screenshots. I want Word to do this, except that I need it when saving documents.

By clearing the default file location in settings, Word will use the last opened folder instead. This is what I prefer.

(Apologies if I haven't been very clear).

Since I have never had this problem, I can only speculate. However, I would
select the Recent Documents folder from the Open tab. Perhaps that would
restore your Office applications to the expected behaviour. Perhaps also
there is some kind of preferences file that needs to be reset to default
behavior. Trashing the preferences is the first thing one should do when
Photoshop goes berserk, for example.

Another thing to check: if the font being used in the document isn't
