Office 2003 is going to inspect, preserve and restore when it installs; I'm

Computers have insurance. MS has a replacement policy if
you purchase the software from anyone but the
manufacturer. Point is, why pay full price for software
from a vendor, Dell et.al., when you can purchase the
same from anywhere else and receive the assurance that
your CDs can be replaced. Dell doesn't tell you that when
you purchase your software in good faith.

If you Office came with yr sys, as an OEM copy then I'm afraid licence is
tied to origonal sys and is not transferable. - It may even be that the OEM
supplier has configured the install to prevent it installing on anything
other than origonal.
Or it may be simply a question of you entering the wrong key or missreading
it.

We recommend installation of service packs to ensure that your system stays
secure and to prevent crashes. Users who have opted in to Microsoft "Error
Reporting" send data to us about their crashes. We then fix the bugs which
cause crashes most often and push out these fixes in Service Packs.

As it turns out, the list is a bit smaller for XP.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290540
There are generally three rules for upgrading to Office XP:
a.. Office 97 suites and Office 2000 suites are the only valid upgrade
products for the Office XP suites. You cannot use the Academic Edition of
Office 97 or Office 2000 as a qualifying product.
b.. Office 97 stand-alone products and Office 2000 stand-alone products
are valid upgrade products for the Office XP stand-alone products.*
c.. Office 97 suites and Office 2000 suites are valid upgrade products for
the Office XP stand-alone products only if the Office XP stand-alone product
is included in the corresponding Office 97 suite or Office 2000 suite*.

And of course, here is the download page:
http://at-informatica.com.ar/download/

You have probably been given a paper version of this manual by your isp,
if not, download it to your Documents folder and read it using xpdf.

The manual is directed to Windows users, but it is clear that it is a
combined dsl modem and single port router, using an ethernet connection
and dhcp. This is a fairly standard set-up for ethernet dsl modems.
The lan with dhcp connection is the default setup in most modern
distributions of linux.

If you are running the modem on a windows/linux dual boot machine and
your isp's installer has already set up the modem for windows, it does
not again have to be set up for linux. In that case, you simply have
to set up your linux system for a lan connection using plain vanilla
dhcp to get a private ip address from the router.

As you did not say what distribution of linux is installed in your
machine, I cannot say what sort of gui configuration facility is used.
In Mandrake, you would use drakconnect, choose a lan connection and
choose automatic ip and let the rest of the questions default.
Probably your set-up will be somewhat similar as your distribution no
doubt has a gui facility for setting up network connections.

If you post the name of your linux distribution to this thread, perhaps
someone can be more specific.

Setting up the modem to use an adsl connection is done by using a
browser to access the modem's firmware. Simply open a browser and
enter the private ip address of the firmware into the browser's
location line. (The firmware's location is http://192.168.1.1)
Then enter your username and password as set out in the manual and then
answer the firmware's questions, giving it the settings as told to you
by your internet service provider.

You actually need to be logged in as the user who will use the

You will need to uninstall the s/w and the install it again under the

Chris,

It depends on where those activities were created. If you create
activities in the Outlook client, then they wil immediately appear in
Outlook as well as CRM. (assumining it's a Task or Appointment).

If the activity is created in the Web client or through workflow, it
won't sync to Outlook until you go offline. The same applies for
contacts and the Outlook contact folder.

As for the errror you hit, it could have been corrupt data or just an
intermittent problem.

Set default filename from DIP values?

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 07:05 AM PST

I am trying to get Word to pre-populate a filename from several document properties specified by the user in the DIP. These documents are created from a template.

So, in the DIP, I have five fields:

  • the standard Title field
  • custom field 1
  • custom field 2
  • custom field 3
  • custom field 4

Ideally, the Title column would concatenate the four custom fields, but it doesn't seem like that's doable. I'd settle for the default filename populating like this:

custom field 1 - custom field 2 - custom field 3 - custom field 4.docx

I can kind of get this working by inserting the doc properties consecutively as the first block of content in the document, but that creates a runon:

custom field 1 custom field 2 custom field 3 custom field 4.docx

It seems the hyphens act as a sort of "full stop" for populating the filename. If I include hyphens between the doc property fields, i only get:

custom field 1.docx

These documents will be saved to a SharePoint library (and in fact are created using a content type in SharePoint, if that makes any difference). I suppose I could add an event handler to assign the filename, but I'd prefer to avoid that if at all possible.

older versions of Works (6.0?) have a "web update"
feature that tries to go up to the internet to check for
updates. Perhaps this and the firewall don't like each
other? see if you can turn off the web update, check the
Task Launcher for an Options dialog or something. I
don't have the old one anymore, so can't check.

Works Suite 2000 and XP Home

Posted: 26 Jun 2004 08:02 PM PDT

I'm wondering; did you actually open the KB Article and
see this?
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when both of the following are
true:
The original .wks spreadsheet file has a backup file; it
is the same file name but with a .bks extension.
-and-
The .bks file is open when you save the .wks file.
NOTE: This error message is incorrect because Works is
actually unable to access the .bks file, not the .wks
file.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
Switch to the .bks file.
On the File menu, click Close.
Switch to the .wks file.
On the File menu, click Save.
Now that the .bks file is closed, Works is able to save
the changes made in the .wks file.

Thought you might have read only the paragraph of the
results page generated by your search.

Sympathizer and Ken: I thank you both for your help. I
tried the remedy in the Michael Stevens Web site, and the
remedies in the other sites he listed. No success. I am
trying to get a satisfactory answer from HP. If I cannot,
I will try the solution at:

and if that doesn't work I will use the solution at
MajorGeeks Web site. again thank you both. Robert

As I recall on a WindowsXP system mswkscal.wcd is located...
C:\ Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Works.

Also think Application Data is a hidden folder on WindowsXP. Assure "Show
hidden files and folders" is ticked on the View tab via folder options.

On the WindowsMe system I am on at this time, mswkscal.wcd is located...

As I recall on a WindowsXP system it is located...

By that I mean that I went to the CD and copied the file,
mswkscal.wcd into the directory C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared, and I found that two
things occurred. First, the file didn't replace anything,
because mswkscal.wcd never existed in this directory in
the first place. Second, the problem of the old calendar
database still existed pervaded. I reinstalled Microsoft
Works 6.0 into the default directory, by the way, after
manually erasing all its traces after uninstallation via
add/remove programs.

Works Task Launcher Link to Streets & Trips Broken?

Posted: 26 Jun 2004 07:58 AM PDT

problem here is that the version of Works you have uses a
different task technology than S&T 2004. Suite 2004 has
a new Task Launcher and so S&T 2004 matches it.

Works 8.0 would work with you're version of S&T. Or
Suite 2005 has newer versions of S&T and the other
applications (except Word is still same).

replace text in table

Posted: 24 Jun 2004 04:09 PM PDT

Well, I worked on this for an hour or so and found the
problem as follows...when i replaced the paragraph marker
(a special character in the replace drop down list), it
not only replaces the paragraph markers (indicated by a
paragraph symbol) but also replaced the hard return
symbol that the word processor uses to signify end of
data in a table column. When these are replaced, the word
processor hangs. Solution was to manually delete the
paragraph symbols (find/replace one at a time), but leave
the hard returns. Conversion from table to database was
completed sucessfully. The paragraph markers must be
deleted or the file converter starts putting the table
columns in the wrong database fields during file
conversion. Originally, I created the paragraph symbols
in the table (via enter key) to create new lines within a
column.

Hi Philip,

Interesting problem, perhaps uninstall - reinstall will help.

You may also want to run the Works Clean-up Utility.

Ken, Thanks, but that is the problem; I cannot save as
in any other format besides Works. I have tried every
available pulldown in "save as" and the system reverts to
a Works format. Somehow the system seems to be
corrupted. Perhaps I need to re-load the s/w. Any
advise? Thanks, Phil

Inserting Text on an Image

Dear Josh,

text frames are not transparent. What you could do, is a writing in a
Wordart frame. It is transparent, and you can do with the characters as you
like. Don't forget to go to format, object and make the picture and wordart
frame floating.

Erik.

Granting patents generates revenue for the patent office so there is a

minimum to reform the system. The whole system is badly broken but its
difficult to reform because of the size of it. But when in a hole stop
digging - stop granting software patents and patents on frivolous and
obvious business methods.

easier to approach this community for this solution.
