What happens if you inert into your CD\DVD-Rom your previous version of Word and or Publisher when it asks for a qualifying update

And actually, in later releases of Office 2000, activation actually occurred.
I bought an early version which didn't require activation, but when I got to
a different job several years later, they had individual licenses and each
had to be activated.

Hi Bob

Can you tell me if the disk should be smooth all the way across? I can feel
a distinct ridge a few mm in from the edge just about where the coppery
colour starts and do not know if this is as it should be.
