Outlook is retrieving data from old server message Posted: 17 Jan 2008 09:57 AM PST All users Exchange properties show the new server. A few things I noticed. I started the old server back up. Started the Information Store and System Attendant. They no longer get the message. Looking at the Public Folders Instances on the old server, I can see 3 of the Public Folders. What is the difference between the Public Folder instances and the Public Folder? Looking at the tion status on the old server, it shows they have been Both Modified. I thought that I had moved them. Could this have something to do with users having their Outlook start slow? How do I get rid of the old server? "RAM" wrote: |

Posted: 15 Jan 2008 02:00 PM PST I just created a new storage group with one database that I only moved one user to so far. Their mailbox size is only 7 MB. It has only been a few weeks and I was going to start moving other users to it but noticed the storage group folder has grown to 278 GB. It wasn't being backed up prior to last night but has now been successfully backed up. The users mailbox seems to be fine but I'm not able to even browse to that storage group's folder. It causes explorer to "not respond." -- T. Richards |

Questions about migrating from Ex2003 to Ex2007 and coexistance. Posted: 13 Jan 2008 01:40 PM PST Now I have a couple of related questions. I know for Exchange 2007 user mailbox settings you have to use the Exchange 07 tools, you don't use the A/D users and computers snap in, but during the "coexistence" phase, I assume I still use the A/D snap in for the Exchange 2003 users, correct? If we need to create a new user, or mailbox enable someone on the Exchange 2003 system, do we just use the regular tools? Also, regarding OWA. I realize that the Exchange 2007 CAS provides for the backward compatibility 2003 "/exchange" OWA site, but due to our licensing issues I don't want to run the 2003 users through the 2007 web system. Is there any problem with leaving our 2003 Outlook Web server active and as we migrate users at that time have them go to the 2007 CAS server (and use the "/OWA")? What would happen if a user with a mailbox on the 2007 server would try to access the 2003 OWA server? Mike O. "John Oliver, Jr. [MVP]" <com> wrote in message news:%phx.gbl... |
Messages stuck in "Messages Pending Submission" queue Posted: 12 Jan 2008 11:32 PM PST Hi, Yes, we do have Trend Micro Office Scan client and Scan Mail products running on the server. But I do not think this is causing the problem, as I have seen this problem being discussed in a lot of forums and people say that even disabling/removing Trend does not help. Smartphone Emulator to test Outlook Mobile Connection Posted: 11 Jan 2008 12:10 PM PST holy ****, i had no idea about this emulator. i just migrated from OWA2003 to 2007 over the weekend, i got a call saying activesync was broken, my PDA has a broken screen so I couldn't test, but with this emulator, I got it all working again in 30 minutes. BRILLIANT!!!! BTW, I did not need to install activesync or outlook to perform an "over the air" sync. Exchange 2007 Tranisition - Public Folder replication issues Posted: 10 Jan 2008 09:37 PM PST Hi Neil, Thanks for your reply. Can you let me know how this is done - I have spent some time looking at various settings but cant find where one adds E2K7 server as a to all public folder instances...? There are 2 options in EMS for PF instances (on E2k server): 1. To Select PF 2. to 'change server' i.e. move to the public folder on a different server. I suspect neither of these options is what is required. Many thanks... "Neil Hobson [MVP]" wrote: |
Exchange Distribution List Limitation - Exchange 2007 Posted: 10 Jan 2008 08:57 AM PST Mmm (deep thought) ... I appreciate the feedback Mark, but can you help me understand this some more and perhaps suggest an alternative? My users have a shared mailbox and in that mailbox they have populated Contacts with many contacts plus they've also created distribution lists within Contacts (see attached screen-shot). They used the full OL2003 client to create the contacts not OWA. The problem occurs when they use Contacts to do their mailings. The exact process as follows: - Open Contacts from the shared mailbox - View by Catagory - Select the Category - Expand the Category - Click Action in Menu Bar and select New Message to Contacts which puts them in the To: field in the new message - Cut 'n' Paste the Contacts from the To: field into the Bcc: field - Type the message as usual and click Send After what seems like an Outlook hang, the result is the error message described in my oringla posting ... the web article states "Exchange Server 2003 has a limit on the number of contacts that can be added to a distribution list." which made me think it was an Exchange issue. Either way, they'd like to continue using this method, so any information on how to fix or work-around this problem would be appreciated. Thanks. PJ. Problem Creating Mailboxes on Exchange 2003 Posted: 09 Jan 2008 11:34 AM PST Hi David, i read the article of the URL you sent me. I enabled RUS logging and tired to check for errors. But i had only informational log events, and no critical erros on RUS. I was waitig more than 24 hours for RUS to stamp a user object. But it didn't happen. I was also checking if there are some inconsistencies between exchange and domaincontrollers (eg. time difference to big). But nothing at all was present. After i triggered the RUS manually to do an update, then unstamped objects were stamped again. I also tested if the RUS stamps new objects wich also works again. I'm really a little bit confused why the RUS stops working immediately, but some collegaues told me, that they had this problem also, and they resolved it with reboots of DC and Exchange. But in my case this didn't help. I'll read a little bit more about RUS. Probably i find out why it stops working. -- regards from Germany Schoen, Roland --------------------------- [Systemadministrator] "David Ruth" wrote: |

Opening Another Person's Calendar in Exchange 2007 OWA Posted: 08 Jan 2008 10:09 AM PST "Mark Arnold [MVP]" <org> wrote in message news:com... I tried the drop-down box next to my name in the top right corner. I selected the name of a person whose calendar I have the rights to view, and I get a page that reads, "You do not have permission to open this Mailbox. Contact your Exchange Administrator for access or for further information." I can open the same person's calendar without problems if I am using Outlook 2003 installed locally. I don't administer our Exchange server, so I'll have to pass along the suggestion of publishing the format to our Exchange admins. Thanks for your help! --Tom |

Posted: 07 Jan 2008 08:54 AM PST It doesn't much matter about searches. There will be an AD search across multiple fields and you can always follow the KB about ambiguous recipients to widen the scope. |

Exchange 2007 unable to see all DC/GCs in site Posted: 03 Jan 2008 01:45 PM PST Thanks for that, fixed it and it was so obvious I am embarrased. The SBS was the Time Server being the PDC Emulator and the Time Service was not running so I set the startup to automatic started the service and restarted w32time on the Exchange 2007 box and now the issue does not exist. I thought it was something I had missed in Exchange 2007 but like you said it was AD and DCDIAG showed me this. Thanks for giving me your suggestions. -- Johan Strange _______________________________ "John Oliver, Jr. [MVP]" wrote: |
