Ok..

After it's installed.
Open word
click on the office button/word options/save/
change "save files in this format" to .doc.

Hi, Richard,

I would try using the compatibility mode of Windows to run the installation
program with Windows 95 / 98 compatibility.

Also, keep in mind that OEM software--if it was pre-installed on an older
system--may not run legally or functionally on a new system.

If that doesn't help, can you post the exact error message?

Using GPO to install Office 2003

Thanks Peter.
I am actually looking for a different answer. It's not a problem to remove
Office installation but I need to know why GPO deployment can't be removed
from the control panel.

Office 2007 install via config.xml - DO NOT REMOVE 2003?

Posted: 23 Jul 2007 06:26 AM PDT

Well you are right that the second configuration .msp that you deploy will
not remove office 2003, nor can you run a command from the configuration file
either.

You are also right that if you do a msiexec /x it will get all of Office
2003.

I don't know what version office 2003 you are running either. In my test
environment I am running Office 2003 Professional. My guid is
{90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}. If your Guid is the same you can use
step two just as I did. If your Guid is different you will have to change
that part.
You can find your guid here...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

It will be similiar to mine.... on the right side in regedit confirm by
looking for DisplayName

Here is what I have done to repro what you are doing.

#1 Created an .MSP that upgrades Outlook and Infopath. (This works to remove
the previous versions as well)
#2 Running the following command that will remove 2003 Excel, Publisher,
PowerPoint, and Word for Office 2003 and it will leave Access.

MSIEXEC /I {90110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}
REMOVE="EXCELFiles,PubPrimary,PPTFiles,DocumentIma gingUtils,XDOCSFiles,WORDFiles"

#3 Running a second .msp that installs the other Office 2007 features.

You just start the install of Office 2003 and when it asks for a qualifying media you follow the prompts and put in the Office XP disks when it asks.

Did you read the EULA and are you within what it say's as far as installing on another computer.

You could upgrade to Office 2003, it works well in Vista and is fully
supported. It's discounted now that Office 2007 is released or you
might find a used copy from someone who is upgrading to Office 2007?

If money isn't a problem you're probably better off getting the
latest version but be aware there is a learning curve, it's changed
a lot!

Office 2007 nightmare

Posted: 21 Jul 2007 12:02 AM PDT

Windows installer cleanup utility is perhaps not the best method when working
with a corrupt office 2007 installation.

To completely manually remove office 2007 please follow KB928218
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us

This article talks about trial but is basically instructions to manually
uninstall any office 2007 product.

it doesn't show the product code.

However, I then found another utility and now have the product key

Thanks

You can download a free edition of OpenOffice from here:

http://www.openoffice.org/

If you want a genuine MS Office 2007 then you will need to buy it
separately. Try Amazon for this.
