Product key and activation problems in Office 2003 Posted: 24 May 2006 09:03 PM PDT On Wed, 24 May 2006 21:03:01 -0700, John Brock <microsoft.com> wrote: John, Is this a brand new system with nothing previously installed? The problem you describe sometimes occurs when upgrading from a trial edition. I would just keep trying to activate automatically. If that works, then great.( It won't be so time consuming as repeated attempts at telephone activation.) If not, then take the product back since it's not working and get a replacement copy. Hoperfully, that should "just work". Andrew Watt MVP |
Posted: 24 May 2006 08:58 PM PDT Hi Cyk, When you use the 'Get the Beta' link on http://microsoft.com/office/preview and select which products you want to download for evaluation you should see on the next page or two forward the product keys to use to install. For activation, there was an issue with the servers earlier today, but should now be working. ========== <<"Cyk" <microsoft.com> wrote in message news:com... This is pretty stupid sounding, I know, but how do I activate Office 2007? It keeps asking for a registration key, which, obviously, I don't have. Anyone know where to get the key or activate it some other way? >> -- Let us know if this helped you, Bob Buckland ?:-) MS Office System Products MVP Pricing and Packages for '2007 Microsoft Office System' http://microsoft.com/office/preview |
Posted: 24 May 2006 04:25 PM PDT The activation process should now be working correctly. Please try again. Andrew Watt MVP On 24 May 2006 16:25:38 -0700, net.au wrote: |
O2K7 install over O2K3 leaves old Office in place Posted: 24 May 2006 04:09 PM PDT On Wed, 24 May 2006 16:09:01 -0700, malcolm <microsoft.com> wrote: Malcolm, Almost certainly not! I'm guessing here, but did you have office 2003 in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office? I think the Office 2007 installer will attempt to go there by default. It should detect a conflict though. If I'm installing two versions of Office on the same machine I install each into a directory such as C:\Program Files\Office 10 etc. It works for me. I guess what you do next depends on what problems you are having. Andrew Watt MVP |

Posted: 24 May 2006 02:44 PM PDT Hi George, To help determine the 'same error' can you tell us what th exact error message you're getting is, including the message putting a 3rd party app 'at fault' along with the steps you're following in Outlook 2007 when this occurs? Are you opening the mail in split screen or double clicking it to its own window or?? Do all the messages where this occur have something in common (i.e. html vs plain text format, or an attachment type, or...? ============= <<"George Lake" <com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl... Office 2007 beta 2 Setup Error Posted: 24 May 2006 11:19 AM PDT I uninstalled Desktop Search, it has been crashing for me several times since I installed an update for it (may have been a beta-version) and the installation worked perfectly! Although I chose to uninstall previous versions of Office (2003 in my case), it seems that it has been left intact on my computer, but I can live with a manual uninstall. I hope this solution works for the rest of you with the same problem. /Patrik "Andrew Watt [MVP]" wrote: |
