Hi,

I have office 2013 installed on Windows 8.1 pro. I am having the following problems with a word document of around 100 pages:

  1. It responds very slowly.
  2. It changes the pre-define formatting; precisely, it got rid of the headings formatting I defined with multilevel numbering.
  3. At time it crushes with the following message: "Microsoft has stopped working" and then a new blank page opens and the latest changes are not saved even if the automatic recovery is active. I want to say that this last problem is not related to the size of the doc because it happens also with smaller sizes docs.

The above problems are costing me precious time at work and I really need to resolve them

Error Opening Office Document

Hi -

When I attempt to open an office document (I've tried both Word docs and Excel sheets) by clicking on the file (versus opening the app first) I receive the following error:  "C:\ProgramData\{9A88E103-A20A-4EA5-8636-C73B709A5BF8}\tsmf.dll".  The error occurs with both files created on my PC or received from another PC.  If I open any of the office apps (not selecting a file to cause it to launch - just using the exe file/link) I do not get an error.

One note, when I "ok" the error, the app and doc open fine.

Running Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2010 64-bit.

Two or more Microsoft Equation 3.0 objects or MathType objects inserted without a space or any other character in between are counted by the "Find: Equations" function as a single equation:

What negative impact can this possibly lead to (if any)?

Microsoft Word in Mac Issues with Search and Replace

Hi all.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am a second-language teacher and created a template for Microsoft Word to create my lesson plans. I create a lesson for example for "What is that?" and another lesson for "How are you?". Each of those two lessons would be two separate word files on my computer.

However, in creating the template I made it so when I do a search and replace it only searches the page I'm currently on and not the entire document. Does anyone know what I need to fix so that when I do a search and replace for the entire document, it will search all pages?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Appreciate any help.

Changing the Normal.dotm file

Hi

I need some help.  All our staff use Office 365 and we are currently looking at changing the default settings (in the normal.dotm file) within Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc to our new branding of fonts etc.  All our staff use tablets or laptops and each device is loaded with Office when a new individual starts.  My question is this, if I need to change the default fonts, do I have to do each tablet and laptop individually or can it be rolled out to everyone from the cloud?

How do I remove these boxes around my text? I am using a required form from my university but can't get rid of these annoying boxes that keep surrounding the text in my bibliogrpahy. Sample below.

How do I change margins for selected Word pages that contain a multi-page table?

Hello! I have a Word document that contains both text and tables. The text is on Portrait-oriented pages, and the tables are on Landscape-oriented pages. The tables are interspersed throughout the document. On the Portrait pages, the left margin is set at 1.5" (for binding later). So on the Landscape pages, I want the top margin to be 1.5", since that's the edge that will be bound. But those tables are large (can't be helped), and take up multiple Landscape pages, with the header row repeated on each page. When I adjust the top margin for "apply to this section", the top margin updates only for the first Landscaped page of the table, and not for the subsequent pages containing the remainder of the table. Help! How can I make the adjustment?

How do I find features that are unique to Office 2013?

 I have the task to demonstrate office 2013 (Word, Excel, PPT) to a group of 2010 experienced office workers. Is there a list of items, other than menu changes, changes in techniques, or simply new ways to work the same features in earlier versions?

The filter in Excel is new to me and I could use that even if it is not new to 2013 and I like Flash Fill.

Other features?

Should I also post this in PPT and Excel discussion groups or is this one sufficient?           

Can a content control be sized to 2 characters?

If it can I am just not seeing it.  CCs are new to me.  The test I am trying is to create a return address section in a document.   When I use a CC, can I set it to take up only 2 characters for state abbreviations?  When I proofread the document before it is populated with information, it is not proportionate the what I want to see it.

Have installed MS 2013 and ALL Office applications crash after a few seconds.

Hi All

Unfortunately MS Office 2013 doesnt prove to be that robust....  I am running Win 7 and have tried different approaches to stop the appcrash such as removing add-ins, removing the bluetooth driver, repairing word, running MS office in compatibility mode but they do not work. The only way to get office not to crash within seconds is to open the programmes on safe mode...but  I would really prefer running them in the "normal mode".

With Word 2013 I get this appcrash statement:

Caption problems with figures and tables in Word 2013 for Surface Pro

When I insert a figure caption, then a table caption, the previous figure caption turns to a table caption.  The reverse also happens.  I have never had this problem with Word 2010.  Is it 2013 or is it my new Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 Pro?  I am very frustrated with this problem.

I'm trying to, essentially, split my paper in half. I want to have my stuff looking like this:

and better grades runs many high schoolers ragged.                                newest car to be happy, why wouldn't this be the case?

For many anything but the best is simply unexceptable.

That's simply some sample text I found online, my content is completely different, but it examplifies what I want to do. The only way I could do something like this in Word would be to tab every single line, which would take way too long. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Microsoft word 2010 trying to center a single line and changes the whole page to center

I am trying to center my title in my essay and this has been going on for about 6 months. But I keep getting knock off points for not centering correctly even though I have tried to figure it out. 
When I try to center a single line it changes all of my essay to center. And it also does the same for any alignment I chose. 
Does anyone know how to fix this? I am truly frustrated.

I saved a Word document to a USB and now I can't open it. When I try to open it in Word I see... The file cannot be opened because there is a problem with the contents.  I click Details and I see... Details  '>' expected. Location:  Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 47886.

I tried Rebuilder and got the message... Run-time error '3002': File could not be opened. I clicked Debug and Microsoft Visual opened up.  A line is highlighted in yellow with an arrow next to it... .LoadFromFile WorkXMLFileFullName

Now if I move my cursor to the WorkXMLFileFullName, a small box with a temp directory in my C-drive appears.  I tried typing in that directory, but the highlight remains.  

Can anyone help me recover this file or walk me through how to use Visual to recover it? I've never used it before.  Thanks!

Suddenly I can't select a table on Word, and move handle doesn't show up!

The problem takes place in a Mac and in a PC.

Other tables of the same document are fine.

The document has two columns, but tables occupy the width of a single column.

Need to add word pairs to Microsoft Word Translator (Spanish to English)

Hi, I'm in the process of helping a person in Ecuador who is writing a technical book containing plant descriptions.  He is writing them in WORD in Spanish, then I get his files and translate them from Spanish to English.  I use the Word feature that enables translating an entire document to get a start on the translation, and that does pretty good.   But the technical Spanish terms used in botany do not translate correctly, or at all.   How can I add these technical word pairs to a translation dictionary to accomplish this?   Or is there some other way to scan a document for any of a list of words, and replace them with their correct translation.   Since there may be a hundred or more words to scan (find) in each of about 100 files, I can not do them one at a time with the FIND feature or it would take forever.

I saw a FIND and REPLACE macro on this website that will find all occurrences of a word or phrase and replace it with something else, but I don't know how to modify it to find any one of a LIST of words or phrases and their replacement pairs.  Plus I've never added a macro to Word and used it before (although I have done this with VBA in Excel).

Any hints on how to do this?

we use Accounts and create account or relationship type as an attribue
field in the Account Form and list values such as Prospect, Customer,
Reseller, Parnter, etc. YOu can then create account grid views to

I would suggest using the Lead object in CRM for prospects and then use the
Account object for those prospects which are actually customers. That is
precisely what the Lead object is for. If you take that approach, you can
then setup workflows to trigger off of the change of the lead status to
"qualified" or on the creation of an Account.

Hi Robert

go into your IIS where you installed CRM. in there is a virtual
directory called MSCRMConnector, right click on it and go to property,
click on the directory tab and click edit authentication and access
control. Check the Enable anonymous access box. then click Ok.

Restart IIS and the problem should be solved.

Apparently the fix is in the 892949 update rollup 1, but it also requires a
registry hack to get it to work. With the patch and the registry change I
was able to reassign the license, reassign the user accounts, contacts and
everything else but the cases. There were on 4 and I guess they can just
roll around in the background forever.

But to get back to the technical aspects - you're saying there's no

I cant help you with the exact codes, but what you can do is modify the aspx
files (for contacts: c:/inetpub/wwwroot/SFA/conts/edit.aspx). In the end of
the file you can add javascript code. You might want to ask on a javascript
forum for help on javascript.

Making the picklist editable is not possible. I think it will not be
possible with javascript either. At least it will be extremely hard.

If Exchange is not the first host to process the email, you need to
configure the internal IP list at:

Organization Configuration | Hub Transport | Global Settings | Transport
Settings <properties> | Message Delivery

Here you put the IPs of any hosts handling emails before Exchange.

Besides, please try to delete the ost file from c:\doents and
settings\user\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook. When you
open Outlook next time, it will try to sync with Exchange Server and then
generate a new ost file there.

Note: It may take long time to sync with Exchange Server if you have a lot
of email.

Meanwhile, you may also create a new Outlook profile for user B and C to
test again.

Are you saying you can't find the place or are you saying that you
have found the place but there aren't any connectors there?
If it's the latter you can just create the connector although I'd be
interested to know why there aren't two connectors there.

Did you have problems, failures or anything when you installed the
box?

Thanks for the reply ED. It turns out that the spam filtering software was
configured to Spool automatically if the mail server blinked. Problem with
this was that it wasn't configured to Unspool when the mail server came back
up. So last weekend everyone stopped getting mail and they didn't notice
until Wednesday - pretty funny if you think about it. : ) Thanks again.

You could clone a domain controller and build an off-network of your
production AD and install Exchange using the /DisasterRecovery switch, then
restore the database. You can copy the messages in question using Outlook
to a PST and transport that to the production network.

Go to the Exchange Management Console> Go to Server Configuation> Select Hub
Transprort. Create a New Recieve Connector. Create a new connector, Make
sure the remote IP range you add contains the IP of the server that host your
internal application. Go to the properties of the connector you created and
go to the Authenication tab. Select Externally Secured. This should do the
trick. :-)

Yeah, I've looked at that, as you can see from my original post, the
Test-EdgeSynchronization works OK.

The only thing I can figure, is that when it first went down, my guy through
it was a certificate problem, so he generated a new certificate. Which I
think is what caused this descrepancy.

I'm back up and running by restoring the edge Transport server from the
previous day, but I've got 150 e-mails in the queue of the "broken" transport
server that look to be something other than spam (weird, I know).

So I need to try to bring it online today, to at least get those mail
messages off of it. My plan is to empty all the queues, shutdown the restored
copy, bring up the broken one, and try to re-subscribe using these steps:

I copied a web page text and image into MS Word 2013.

Text is displayed but the image is just a box.

MS Word 2013 options are set as:

"Picture placeholders" is NOT checked,

 "Show drawings and text boxes on screen" is checked

What else could be causing the issue?

HTM/HTML Size Change after Word Document Save As using Different Computers

I maintain a web site and use MS Word to create the HTM/HTML files. I've always used a desktop to first create the word documents and the web pages appeared correctly. After beginning to use my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (3200 x 1800 Display), the images on the web pages from saving the exact same Word document as a web page using the Yoga are much larger than those saved on my Dell desktop. Does anyone know any settings that can be changed to avoid this problem?

When i move one sentence from page 1 to page 2 under TRACK CHANGES, instead of showing "moved", it showed "deleted" and "inserted". How do I let it show "moved"??

Merge field in Excel is displayed as 12:00:00 A.M.

My data source in Excel has 3 different cells, all of which contain mixed data (i.e. if, date, concatenate functions in combination with text).  The setting for all 3 fields are exactly the same, and the cells display the information correctly within Excel.  However, when I merge the info to Word, the info contained in the first cell merges over correctly, but the 2nd and 3rd cells display "12:00:00 A.M" even though they are not blank cells.  How can I fix this?  Again, all 3 cells have mixed data (if, date, concatenate functions in combination with text).  TIA.

Is it possible to make any number that is not whole round UP to the next value. Using the switch\#0 only rounds it to the nearest number.

For example {196/12\#0} is giving me 16 and I need it to show 17

Full Page Graphic and Uncooperative Text Wrapping

Hi All,

I'm putting together a document that has full page graphic sections. I'm trying to set it up so it'll be like this:

Page 1
This page has text for the whole page, and when it gets to the end it breaks-

Page 2
[All one big graphic e.g. just a big rectangle, and there is no text on the page at all]

Page 3
-and then the last sentence from page 1 continues here, and text continues normally.

PROBLEM IS, Word 2007 appears to demand that every page has a least one line of text. For example, if I set up a small text box on a page with text wrapping, the text starts above it the box, breaks, and continues after; if you make the box bigger, more and more text will leave the page, until there is only one line of text on the page, and it will -never- go away, even if it means overlapping your unoverlappable graphic.

Any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

How to make Drop Cap Point Size Consistent

In implementing drop cap in Word 2010, I've found that a "W" is at a point size of 41.5 while a "B" (and all other letters) is at a point size of 33.5.   I specified the drop caps to be 2 lines.  The body font size is 11-points.  The font I'm using is Plantagenet Cherokee.  I have line spacing at Multiple 1.05 lines.

Because the "W" is at a greater point size, it is ignoring the 2 lines specified and is actually 3 lines.

How do I fix?

Windows 8.1 crash?

Hi, 

i'm not sure if this is a windows problem or a microsoft word problem. sometimes any microsoft programs i'm running (e.g word, powerpoint) exit and the task bar at the bottom of my screen goes and i'm left with a blank screen with the colour i chose as my theme colour. if i open my task manager and view programs  running, chrome, spotify e.t.c are still running. any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Edit: i scanned my computer it's not a virus re scan has shown i had malware, i think this might fix it but please keep suggesting any fixes just in case :)

Word 2010 printing the address twice side by side on the envelope

Problem is new.  After I type a letter and select the envelope option the envelope has the address twice side by side on the envelope.

Save As Error Message 'There are no more files'

I am trying to save a Word 2010 document but keep getting a Save As Error Message 'There are no more files'.

I have troubleshooted online and the only thing I came accross to do was to go into Word save options and make sure and set 'Save files in this format: Word Document (*,docx). However, I am still getting the same Save As error message.

I have tried other Microsoft applications and the same message appears when saving excel and other applications

How to copy from WORD (2013) without the formatting

Hi,

I need to copy FROM Word (2013) to another application  (Reference Manager).  This application has NO "Paste text only" option and "Ctrl/Shift V" does not work.  The trouble is that when I do a simple "Paste" or "Ctrl/V", the clipboard delivers not only the text but additional characters related to the formating.  

Here is an example:  The WORD document contains the string "123".  If I make a copy and paste it into my application, here is what I get:

"PrFont34Bin0BinSub0Frac0Def1Margin0Margin0Jc1Indent1440Lim0Lim1123".

This happens only if copying from WORD, but not from PowerPoint or Excel.

How do I make "Copy" to only copy the text, not the formatting ?

Windows 7 Microsoft Office Starter 2010 Click to Run

Can anyone help me with my problem?

I purchased my computer from Dell with Windows pre-installed. I then started experiencing problems with Word and Excel and can't access them because of Click to Run configuration failure. I have looked on several forums and visited Microsoft Support and have tried to uninstall Click-to-Run/Office through the Control Panel. This doesn't work and keeps coming up with error messages saying to try again. I have also tried to uninstall by going through Accessories to Installer. Again it doesn't work. I also tried doing a repair on Click-to-Run which seems to work but it didnt have any effect on the problem at hand.

I have tried all of the FixIt options I have come across and tried to reinstall using the Product Key which doesn't work (I have checked and re-checked it a dozen times).

I have the original Operating System disk that came with the computer and I did do a full back up and then re-installed but this hasn't helped.

My last attempt was to try to again uninstall Click-to-Run and then try to switch to an MSI Based Office edition. Nothing seems to work.

Basically I can't access Word of Excel at all.

There is a disk drive called Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (Protected) (Q:) which seems to be empty/won't let me do anything with it but from what I've read on the forums I should just ignore this.

I am a complete techno-phobe and have tried to follow the various step by step instructions posted on the forums but none of the instructions tell me what I should do when the "fixes" don't work. I really do need an "idiot's guide". Is anyone able to help please?

Microsoft Word 2007 crashes

Hi

Iam using microsoft office 2007 on windows 8.1. Every thing was going on perfectly but yesterday my WORD started crashing. When ever i try to open it it says "there was a problem while sending command o the program". I have used fix it many times and what happens that RESOLVING PROBLEM keep on going on and on and on and never ends. 

note: Other apps of office 2007 are working perfectly except word 2007

How do make word 2013 print go directly to the print properties dialog box

In Word 2007, when I would hit the PRINTER icon in the toolbar, it would take me directly to the printer's Print Properties. Now in Word 2013 (365), when I click on the PRINTER icon (or go through FILE/PRINT), it brings up a whole new page, and then I also have to click on the Print Properties, which now makes an extra step. Is there a way to bring the printer dialog box up directly into the printer's print properties dialog box?

printing only blank pages from a Word Doc, but did print a test page when instructed to do so by HP Solutions.  Printed from 2 other sources today, but only blank pages when trying a created Word Doc.

1 hour later:  HP 1320 will print Excel docs, but none of my Word Docs; tried some, other than the one that I had previously tried to print.
