Julian,

thanks for your prompt reply. I tried to download
the SDK from MSDN but only the help file is present
in the SDK download. package.
Can you suggest another link where I can download the
latest version?. Does the small business server need to
be installed prior to installing CRM?

Thanks again,

Carlos.

All we want to do is this.

All of the product forecasting reports work against Opportunity Product. So
if we want to know forecasted revenue by product we need to put in
Opportunity Products. Opp Products is where I feel they should go as well.
Our customer is a software/services firm and they don't have fixed prices.

When looking into opp products all you can edit is the quantity. You CANNOT
change the price-per-unit, or the baseamount. They are looked up in the
background from the PriceList table. All I want is this:

On opp products, I want to enter the price-per-unit and quantity. The
system can calculate the amount total for me. Then it would update the
amount of the opportunity.

I don't want to force my customer to create a quote when it is way to much
overkill for them.

New Updates in the CRM

Posted: 07 Jun 2005 09:18 AM PDT

Yes, there is an add-on that helps with this issue, it's called VAST
Insights, and we'll be releasing it at the WWPC in July! VAST already
tracks all changes made, and with our next release we're adding
significant functionality that will allow the user to easily mine this
historical data to do exactly what you are looking for... Please give
me a call or send an email, and I'll see that you get the demo as soon
as it is ready... HTH,

Unable to register CRM Security Service

Uninstall CRM fully, following the Installation Guide for uninstallation

Then add the CRM and SQL server AD accounts, and the service accounts (where
not Local System) to the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group, and
reboot the servers, BEFORE installation. This requirement is spelt out
clearly in the MSCRM Installation Guide. (except for the reboot - thats my
idea)

Connection error during data migration

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:36 PM PDT

The CRM Server is installled in the same machine as SQL Server. Basically,
the setup topology is as below:
i) SQL Server is already up and running before CRM installation.
ii) MSCRM is installed.
iii) Using Web Application, I have created the necessary user with roles and
licenses. This means that the CRM database in the SQL server is working fine
right.
iv) Then I install the CRM Data Migration software.
v) Run the InitializationTool.exe and transfer data using Data
Transformation in Enterprise Manager.
vi) Then I run the MigrationTool.exe and the error occurs.

FYI, I've tested this data migration on a test server previously and the
MigrationTool.exe can be run successfully. The difference between these 2
servers is that they are under different domain. Thanks.

Biz,
Sneaking suspicion here.. HOW did you update the relationship between
contacts and accounts? Did you use the CRM UI, or did you do a
back-door SQL query? If the latter... I hope you have a backup...

And what is the "CRM Entry module"?

You can only use the API or the GUI or an approved tool like Scribe to
modify the data in CRM. NEVER update CRM data directly! (I have over
a decade of everyday T-SQL use, and I can tell you from painful
experience with CRM 1.0, you WILL mess up the database if you do any
significant data updates directly to SQL... Just say no...

Lead Modify Date not changing for all actions.

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:40 PM PDT

Eric (and Brian, and Matt),

Several users feel the same way you do Matt - if they change anything
associated with a lead, then that lead should appear "modified". There
is no easy way to do this in the core CRM product. c360's Activity
Summary can show you this information today, although it requires
another click or few to get there. Activity Summary is supposed to be
part of the new CRM product, as well.

However, there is still no easy way to, for example, get a list of the
Leads that have had NO activity (no phone calls, no tasks, no changes
to the data). And that's why we're adding that functionality to our
VAST product. At the WWPC in July, we'll be demoing our new "VAST
Insights" product that utilizes the CRM changes VAST captures to give
users 'one-click' access to their historical CRM data. With VAST
Insights, users will be able to see, for example:
- Leads with no activity in (the time period they choose)
- Leads WITH activity (this week, month, etc.)
- Opportunities that were pushed out (estimated close date was
increased, again, during a user-specified time period).

Please send me an email or give me a ring if you'd like to discuss
further. HTH!

access privilege to send bulk email

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:15 PM PDT

Hi -

This was a post from another newsgroup - It worked for me and I've heard
others have used it successfully.

BTW on another topic, be aware that a known bug is that the 'send direct
email' function ignores the 'do not email' settings. this could lead to
inadvertant spam if users assume that users who have 'do not email' set
won't receive bulk mail.

Good Luck -

Scott Sewell

I was having exactly the same problem - only Domain Admins could send Direct
E-Mail.

Looking in the event log on the server you have the CRM Exchange Connector
installed, you are probably seeing an event from DCOM with event ID 10016
which tells you that the user does not have "Local Activation" rights for a
particular object.

To fix this, load up the "Component Services" Admin Tool, and expand out the
tree

"Component Services" --> "Computers" --> "My Computer" --> "DCOM Config".

Right-Click "CrmBulkMailService" and select "Properties." Go to the
"Security" tab, and then select "Customise" under "Launch and Activation
Permissions". Click "Edit", and set permissions as needed - simplest way is
to make a Global Group called "CRM Users" on your DC, add all CRM users to
it, and grant it Local Launch and Local Activate permissions.

Once you've done that, your Direct E-Mail should work - it worked here...

vpn access & host headers

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:40 AM PDT

Rodger,
If your VPN connection is functioning correctly then when you initiate a vpn
connection you are virtually in the network! This means that you have an IP
or virtual IP on the same subnet of the office network (if you are not sure
how to test this type "cmd" into the run command and then type "ipconfig
/all" and this will tell you your IP addresses). If this is the case then,
the host headers (if working internally) will function the same as when you
are in the office when you have connected your vpn. Is your Router the VPN
unit? if so then it should not need to route any traffic if you will have
network access anyway! But if you are using the external IP eg
http://61.0.0.0 (port 80 by default unless other specified) to access from
the web then yes your router will need to pass port 80 traffic to your server
IP using NAT policies or whatever address translation your router uses. Host
headers are not required if accessing the crm from the web.

Nathan

Microsoft Office docs won't open on my PC, but will when I send them to my iPad

Posted: 02 Nov 2014 11:56 AM PST

Hello,

A few weeks ago my old PC crashed.  I've now got a new one, and re-installed Microsoft Office 2007 (from a new disk, not from the disk I used on the old PC).  I've transferred my old word docs from my portable (back up) hard drive back to the PC, but two in particular are not opening for me.  On my PC, they're telling me they have a few hundred Kbs each, but when I try to open them (they're password protected, in case that makes any difference) I'm being told there are 0 words there.

Yet, when I email these same docs to myself and open them on my iPad, they're there and completely read-able.  I don't have microsoft word for ipad, and would like to be able to add to these docs, so I would be REALLY grateful if anyone could tell me what's gone wrong and how to fix it.

Thanks.

Missing Spaces Between some words in WORD document.

Posted: 02 Nov 2014 01:08 AM PDT

Hello. I am using MS Office 2013 Professional PLUS.

Once I send a completely formatted document to another person, he sees many formatting issues mainly missing spaces in a lot of places. Two or three words join together eliminating the spaces.

Being a researcher is is embarrassing when one is asked by the supervisor or reviewer to get the whole document proofread before sending them the final copy. I do not understand how to avoid this problem.

Please Advice.!!!

Index problem

Posted: 01 Nov 2014 11:36 PM PDT

I have carefully checked my index marks in the text, which are: (I used the separator ": ")

{ XE \F "S" "evolution:fossils:1"}

{XE \F "S" "evolution:fossils:5"}

{ XE \F "S" "evolution:fossils:2"}

{ XE \F "S" "evolution:fossils:4"}

{XE \F "S" "evolution:fossils:DNA, and" \r "Z_D9F" }

but instead of collecting them under the one subheading "fossils" which should give this, omitting the main heading:

fossils

  rarity of: 193

  1: 193

  5: 195

  2: 195

  4: 195

  DNA, and: 193–95

what I get is this:

fossils

   rarity of: 193

fossils

   1: 193

fossils

   5: 195

fossils

   2: 195

fossils

   4: 195

fossils

   DNA, and: 193–95

I did a repair of the document which made no difference. I had this happen once before but can't recall how I solved it. Any ideas?

Office Resource Kit Question

Hi Jeff,

Probably not :) MS Office 2007 uses windows Patch files (.MSP) (except when deploying by Group Policy), and Office 2000, Office

There are folks who use scripting or MS SMS or other 3rd party tools to deploy and bypass the MS tools.

how do I transfer office 2007 license to new hard drive?

Posted: 25 Oct 2007 02:49 PM PDT

Clone the smaller HD onto the larger HD then take out the smaller drive (or reformat it and use it for data). All the info will now be on the larger drive.
"Mark" <com> wrote in message news:phx.gbl...
I have Office 2007 Home and Student installed on my notebook and desktop. (2 of 3 licenses used) I bought a new hard drive to replace the smaller drive in the desktop and what I want to know is if it's possible to use the current desktop license on the new hard drive. What I don't want to do is use the third license for the new HD, as it is intended for a new notebook in the future.

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.
Grazie,
Mark

Upgrade from Office XP to Office 2003; Office XP tries to Reinstal

Posted: 25 Oct 2007 11:17 AM PDT

Figured it out!

It turns out that our old IT guy had deployed Office XP on the server, and
everytime I logged into the network from a workstation, the server was
sending install-on-demand shortcuts to our desktops. We called in a
professional, and he's taking care of dismantling it now.

Thanks!

Here are some MS links on getting a replacement. If you still have the
paper Certificate of Authenticity and/or the store receipt, it'll
really help. Good luck. You may be out of luck.

Office 2007 Broke my monitor

Posted: 23 Oct 2007 10:04 PM PDT

You will have to do this for both Office 2007 (12) and Office 2003 (11) to
keep the problem from occurring in both versions of Word.

If you also had Office XP (10) and Office 2000 (9) you would have to do it
to those versions also.

Detect Microsoft Office Version

Posted: 23 Oct 2007 04:11 AM PDT

Since by default Office from 2002 installs into version specific folders a
search for the relevant folder?

A check on the version(s) of eg winword.exe?

A registry key check?
I don't know about scripting but any or all the above are available in any
decent programming language

Fresh Install of Office 2003

Posted: 23 Oct 2007 03:32 AM PDT

In article <ffkijh$p9c$org>, com says...

SUMMARY
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 have
both a different format and a larger overall size limit for the personal
folders (.pst) file than the .pst files that are in the earlier versions
of Microsoft Outlook. In Outlook 2002 and earlier, the .pst files are in
the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format, and the overall
size has a limit of 2 gigabytes (GB).

By default, .pst files are in the Unicode format in Outlook 2007 and in
Outlook 2003. Additionally, the overall size of the .pst files has a
limit that is more than the 2-GB limit that is imposed by the ANSI .pst
files. By default, the limit for a Unicode .pst file in Outlook 2007 and
in Outlook 2003 is configured to be 20 GB. For more information, click
the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base:

832925 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832925/) How to configure the
size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook 2003

As in earlier versions of Outlook, Outlook 2003 Internet Message Access
Protocol Version 4rev1 (IMAP4) accounts and HTTP accounts use .pst files
that do not use the Unicode format. Therefore, the .pst files for IMAP
or HTTP accounts in Outlook 2003 are limited to 2 GB. In Outlook 2007,
the Internet Message Access Protocol Version 4rev1 (IMAP4) accounts and
HTTP accounts do use Unicode format .pst files and are not limited to 2
GB.

Microsoft 2007 trial problem

Posted: 22 Oct 2007 04:01 PM PDT

The reason your repair/reinstall of winxp failed was the your install cd was
an earlier version than the sp level that is currently on your sys.

NB Thats not to say that you needed to reinstall winxp, you should respond
to JoAnn's post

How to -- PPPoE with my ADSL Connection to connect internet with CentOS 5

Well there is a distinct lack of understanding on BOTH sides.

You actually do not know *how* to configure what you have on Windows:
You just know a sequence of commands to achieve a result. That is not
really understanding what you have done.

Now PPOe is a protocol some ISPs use between the modem and the ISP.
Normally its set up in the *modem*. Usually by meas of either a special
windows program that 'finds' the modem, or by means of a web page that
teh modem will bring up.

Of course no one has written a simple plug'n'play driver for Linux, you
have to do it the real way. What has confused you is that you THOUGHT
you were setting up PPOE on the windows computer. You were not. You were
setting it up on the MODEM. Windows is for complete idiots, so it never
confuses things by telling you what you are doing. JUST what you need to do.

Now here is the next point. How is the modem connected to the PC? (USB?
Ethernet?) and what is its type/name etc?

Until we know that all you can do is undo all the PPOE stuff you have
setup, as its a complete red herring. Its for ancient systems that usesd
to use it for something weird like VPN'ing or with a dial up modem
attached.

What you need is a web screen into your router to set that up. The first
thing is to get te PC talking to the modem. THEN set up the ISP system

It's not as easy as windows: I you think that Linux s, on account of
that, go back to windows.

Linux wasn't designed to make you think you have a bigger than you
actually have: In fact itst a pretty humbling experience for people who
think hey 'know computers' cos they got a windows PC onto the internet.

You may want to take a look at my DFSee disk-tool as well,
there is a full-function BETA available at:

or
http://www.dfsee.com/download/dfsee9xx_linux.tgz

The ZIP has DOS, Windows, OS/2 and Linux versions.

You can use that to browse your partition tables, including
GRUB details, and it also includes a binary sector editor.
(and soon a disassembler for the hackers amongst us :-)

Yes. That is (kinda) what I was looking for.
More specifically, I would like to take some action

must die if it can not get the memory it needs.

We have experimented with system-wide changes to the
over-commit policy, but apparently option 2 (strict over-commit)
is buggy.

I can't afford to patch the OS at this time as that would require
patching thousands of machines from the US to China (in my

You should get a realistic idea of a virtual machine. Every physical
device can have only one "manager", which is responsible for
synchronizing all device related requests. As long as your host system
is allowed to use your display card, the VM cannot have control over
that card. That's why a VM uses different (virtual) devices, with
appropriate drivers, configuration etc.

You effectively try to boot the same system on a different machine, what
rarely works in the real world, and so fails in a virtual world as well.

Of course there exist Linux CD's that boot on any system, but these use
a RAM disk to hold all the files, that are created for the actual
machine during the system initialization. Possibly such a system allows
to store such a configuration on a HD instead of a RAM disk, so that it
can be customized by the user, and is used when the system is booted
again, on the same machine. Unless you have installed *such* a flexible
system on your physical machine, you cannot simply boot it in a VM.

Your network problems most probably result from an missing or
inappropriate setup of the virtual network card, so that the guest OS
cannot find a network to connect to. Using NAT for the virtual network
card will usually work without much configuration trouble.

DVD reader access error

Posted: 29 Jul 2007 03:02 AM PDT

When I boot from the LiveCD and look at the "Hardware information"
data, the DVD drive is seen as an IDE device.
When I boot from the hard drive, it is listed as SCSI device.

From what I understand, this is because my drive is a CD burner, and
then must use "SCSI emulation" or something like that. Since the
LiveCD can access the CD, is it possible that this SCSI emulation
makes the CD unreadable ? If so : how can I deactivate it ?
