Job accounting problem printing from Excel -- HELP

Posted: 11 Nov 2007 01:54 AM PST

Hi Jaon,

You may want to use the link below to also post this in the MS Excel Printing discussion group. When posting there please include
the version of Windows and version of Excel you're working with.

At our church, we use a Kyocera printer/copier. It is setup to use job accounting to track account codes for every print request.
Everything works fine for all programs, except Excel. When printing multiple copies with Excel it prompts for the account code FOR
EACH COPY. In other Office programs, it only asks once. Any ideas what is going on?

I have heard it has something to do with collate. I need to disable the collate so it only send one print request. Unfortunately it
always defaults to Collate and our people keep forgetting to switch it off. Is there a way to default the Collate to off? Or is
there a way to use Collate without sending multiple print jobs? Thanks.

Those blasted trial versions struck again. I wouldn't recommend anyone use
them but I can only warn so many people.

I'm glad you're up and running. :-)

your suggestion, if that's the only way.

If you are on an admin account and it won't install (not likely but
possible), then open Windows Explorer and navigate to the Setup.Exe file on
the CD. Right-click on it and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

The State of California does not have an overall license but each Agency purchases software for its own use. Check with your Agency to see if it uses a volume or SA license. In the future, DTS may begin to lump all software purchases into one license but for now, each agency buys its own.

OK, I'm truly sorry to have to admit that the problem was apparently a smudge

to put a sad face for that and a happy face for finally fixing the problem!
Thanks for the helpful ear and suggestions.

It wont even let you install it?

This is not related to licensing.

Typically when you have a product on too many machines you may not be able
to "activate" it. But during the installation process there is no kind of
registration limit check.

What happens when you try to install it?

You wrote "It's not allowing me to enter the Key(2003) code after I remove
1997 from this thing"

How so? Like you can't type? You get an error? program crashes?

Please elaborate

Unable to install Project Standard 2007

Posted: 06 Nov 2007 08:38 AM PST

I managed to fix the problem myself after getting a hint that it might be a
registry permissions problem. I fixed it by downloading the resource kit tool
subinacl (it isn't advertised as Vista compatible but it seems to run just
fine) and issuing the following two commands to grant administrator access to
all registry entries:

subinacl /subkeyreg KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f

After that I was able to start Project 2007 as an administrator but running
without administrator privilege resulted in the whole configuration issue
again.

I then guessed that the problem was the Project entries in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
so I gave user read access to those by issuing the following commands:

subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Mspjevts.MSPJAppObj /grant=users=r
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Mspjevts.MSPJDocObj /grant=users=r

MS Security Updates & Office Prompts for CD

Posted: 05 Nov 2007 10:45 AM PST

Ok..

The thing about office 2000 is that there is no LIS and no way to enable the
LIS.
Newer office products still require source when installing patches but they
also have a Local Install Source that they can referrence.

You may want to try installing the filehashpatch from KB835220
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=835220

This patch has been known to reduce the need for source when Office 2000
installs updates. It wont eliminate the need, but should curb it.

The other option is to create an Office 2000 admin point and uninstall and
then reinstall using the Admin Point and leave the admin point accessible.

LIPS and Proofing Tools

Posted: 05 Nov 2007 05:26 AM PST

Dear Eric Palm,

I am a little bit disappointed about the answer.

We know Microsoft has a problem getting all those files together in one
downloadable package or on a DVD (for the language packs).

I also know that:
Quote:
“… the single-language packs are the only available 2007 LIPS, and
the only way to obtain proofing tools. (Proofing tools are included in the
LIP).”
Unquote.

We were informed the problem would be solved in October (note: of the year
2007).

What we try to create right now is what Vista and Office 2007 promise:

Quote:
“Deploying a single global image:

The Windows Vista operating system enables a global organization's IT
department to deploy and maintain a single global desktop image. In this way,
your company can create a single build that includes user interface language
support for all of the languages in which you do business. The build can also
include world-ready applications such as Office 2007.”
Unquote.

Nice he?

What we managed to create as per today is:

1) A multi language 32 bits version global desktop image of Vista with
languages we require (note: there is a problem with the LIP’S for the 64 Bits
version of Vista!)
2) We have Office 2007 with some LIP’S installed (English, Dutch, French and
Russian).
Note: Installing the LIP assumes that Proofing is also installed.
However (I can send you screenshots) when “adding” the language, Office
reports that the Proofing is not complete.

What we do NOT have is: other Languages only for Proofing purposes (Spanish,
Ukraine, Portuguese, German, etc.).

We could theoretically install the full LIP’s (on average 250 MB per
language (!) which makes the image far too big) or somehow “extract” the
proofing component out if these LIP’s.

Conclusion:

We cannot create the “promised” “single global image” now.

In fact we have 3 questions left:

1) The Vista 64 Bits problem (I posted that one on the Vista forum).
2) The “incomplete” proofing when installing a LIP.
3) The Proofing Tools DVD (when will it be available).

Please assist, or suggest workarounds.

We could choose to correspond directly (in order to send screenshots).
My mail address is Jan dot Vledder at Ganlok dot nl.

Thanks,

You will likely not have any problem doing this at all. You really don't
even need to uninstall it before changing the hard drive. Minor hardware
changes will not result in license issues. If you change a lot of the
computer's hardware at once, then you might experience issues, but that can
usually be cleared up by activating over the telephone. But, for your
situation, you should be able to activate over the Internet with no problem
whatsoever.

Hi Dougal,

Correct I do not know but DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED.
I do not like to enter percent complete.
I enter actual work and check the accuracy of remaining work.
Why make the division yourself?
The most precise way is to enter actual work timephased (Insert the actual
work row in task Usage or Resource Usage View)
Hope this helps,

Hi eng master,

Are the tasks duplicated on the Resource Usage view? Or the Task Usage view?
Or both?

If you are seeing duplicated task names (actually they are assignments) on
the Resource Usage view and there are multiple resources working on tasks,
this is expected. The assignment (represented by the name of the task
indented under the Resource's name) shows for each resource who is assigned
to the task.

Are you using a resource pool file for your resources? I have frequently
seen assignments repeated in the Resource Usage view when a resource pool
file is used and someone renames (through File > Save As) one of the
projects that is connected to the pool file. The resource pool file then
maintains the connection to *both* project files.

You may want to add the [Project] field to the task usage view to view the
name of the project that the duplicate tasks are coming from. Are they the
*exact* same project name?

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
Julie

Julian,

thanks for your prompt reply. I tried to download
the SDK from MSDN but only the help file is present

Can you suggest another link where I can download the
latest version?. Does the small business server need to

Thanks again,

All we want to do is this.

All of the product forecasting reports work against Opportunity Product. So
if we want to know forecasted revenue by product we need to put in
Opportunity Products. Opp Products is where I feel they should go as well.
Our customer is a software/services firm and they don't have fixed prices.

When looking into opp products all you can edit is the quantity. You CANNOT
change the price-per-unit, or the baseamount. They are looked up in the
background from the PriceList table. All I want is this:

On opp products, I want to enter the price-per-unit and quantity. The
system can calculate the amount total for me. Then it would update the
amount of the opportunity.

I don't want to force my customer to create a quote when it is way to much
overkill for them.

New Updates in the CRM

Posted: 07 Jun 2005 09:18 AM PDT

Yes, there is an add-on that helps with this issue, it's called VAST
Insights, and we'll be releasing it at the WWPC in July! VAST already
tracks all changes made, and with our next release we're adding
significant functionality that will allow the user to easily mine this
historical data to do exactly what you are looking for... Please give
me a call or send an email, and I'll see that you get the demo as soon
as it is ready... HTH,

Dave

Unable to register CRM Security Service

Posted: 07 Jun 2005 08:52 AM PDT

Uninstall CRM fully, following the Installation Guide for uninstallation

Then add the CRM and SQL server AD accounts, and the service accounts (where
not Local System) to the Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group, and
reboot the servers, BEFORE installation. This requirement is spelt out
clearly in the MSCRM Installation Guide. (except for the reboot - thats my
idea)

The conflict tables are used in tion and are a normal part of the

need to look at them again!

Connection error during data migration

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:36 PM PDT

The CRM Server is installled in the same machine as SQL Server. Basically,
the setup topology is as below:
i) SQL Server is already up and running before CRM installation.
ii) MSCRM is installed.
iii) Using Web Application, I have created the necessary user with roles and
licenses. This means that the CRM database in the SQL server is working fine
right.
iv) Then I install the CRM Data Migration software.
v) Run the InitializationTool.exe and transfer data using Data
Transformation in Enterprise Manager.
vi) Then I run the MigrationTool.exe and the error occurs.

FYI, I've tested this data migration on a test server previously and the
MigrationTool.exe can be run successfully. The difference between these 2
servers is that they are under different domain. Thanks.

One thing I'm

this the

If you go to the Workplace, create a new email and send it to Sincere

Urgent: CRM Crashing

Biz,
Sneaking suspicion here.. HOW did you update the relationship between
contacts and accounts? Did you use the CRM UI, or did you do a
back-door SQL query? If the latter... I hope you have a backup...

And what is the "CRM Entry module"?

You can only use the API or the GUI or an approved tool like Scribe to
modify the data in CRM. NEVER update CRM data directly! (I have over
a decade of everyday T-SQL use, and I can tell you from painful
experience with CRM 1.0, you WILL mess up the database if you do any
significant data updates directly to SQL... Just say no...

Lead Modify Date not changing for all actions.

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:40 PM PDT

Eric (and Brian, and Matt),

Several users feel the same way you do Matt - if they change anything
associated with a lead, then that lead should appear "modified". There
is no easy way to do this in the core CRM product. c360's Activity
Summary can show you this information today, although it requires
another click or few to get there. Activity Summary is supposed to be
part of the new CRM product, as well.

However, there is still no easy way to, for example, get a list of the
Leads that have had NO activity (no phone calls, no tasks, no changes
to the data). And that's why we're adding that functionality to our
VAST product. At the WWPC in July, we'll be demoing our new "VAST
Insights" product that utilizes the CRM changes VAST captures to give
users 'one-click' access to their historical CRM data. With VAST
Insights, users will be able to see, for example:
- Leads with no activity in (the time period they choose)
- Leads WITH activity (this week, month, etc.)
- Opportunities that were pushed out (estimated close date was
increased, again, during a user-specified time period).

Please send me an email or give me a ring if you'd like to discuss
further. HTH!

access privilege to send bulk email

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 01:15 PM PDT

Hi -

This was a post from another newsgroup - It worked for me and I've heard
others have used it successfully.

BTW on another topic, be aware that a known bug is that the 'send direct
email' function ignores the 'do not email' settings. this could lead to
inadvertant spam if users assume that users who have 'do not email' set
won't receive bulk mail.

Good Luck -

Scott Sewell

I was having exactly the same problem - only Domain Admins could send Direct
E-Mail.

Looking in the event log on the server you have the CRM Exchange Connector
installed, you are probably seeing an event from DCOM with event ID 10016
which tells you that the user does not have "Local Activation" rights for a
particular object.

To fix this, load up the "Component Services" Admin Tool, and expand out the
tree

"Component Services" --> "Computers" --> "My Computer" --> "DCOM Config".

Right-Click "CrmBulkMailService" and select "Properties." Go to the
"Security" tab, and then select "Customise" under "Launch and Activation
Permissions". Click "Edit", and set permissions as needed - simplest way is
to make a Global Group called "CRM Users" on your DC, add all CRM users to
it, and grant it Local Launch and Local Activate permissions.

Once you've done that, your Direct E-Mail should work - it worked here...

vpn access & host headers

Posted: 06 Jun 2005 11:40 AM PDT

Rodger,
If your VPN connection is functioning correctly then when you initiate a vpn
connection you are virtually in the network! This means that you have an IP
or virtual IP on the same subnet of the office network (if you are not sure
how to test this type "cmd" into the run command and then type "ipconfig
/all" and this will tell you your IP addresses). If this is the case then,
the host headers (if working internally) will function the same as when you
are in the office when you have connected your vpn. Is your Router the VPN
unit? if so then it should not need to route any traffic if you will have
network access anyway! But if you are using the external IP eg
http://61.0.0.0 (port 80 by default unless other specified) to access from
the web then yes your router will need to pass port 80 traffic to your server
IP using NAT policies or whatever address translation your router uses. Host
headers are not required if accessing the crm from the web.

Regards,
Nathan

There is a knowledge base article 875086 that lists about 12 different steps

include a 'security descriptor' which is not sufficiently doented
