Set SCL value

Posted: 06 Feb 2007 08:01 AM PST

I agree with Alexander that this would not be very practical. The SCL value
has to be assigned by a trusted source. Hold on, I'm getting a feed from
my implant: That is what the Exchange 2007 Edge Transport server will do
for you! Seriously, though, you Edge Transport will do that for you. It
is also possible that there are some 3rd party products and services that
will do that for you at a hosted service provider or via an appliance in
your DMZ. I'm not sure what the actual deployment details would be, though.
I am pretty sure for E2K3 that the SCL value has to be passed in a trusted
source, this means an E2K3 bridgehead server.

How can I restore someone's deleted contacts?

Posted: 06 Feb 2007 07:23 AM PST

OK, I figured out that problem, I had to actually take the running/production
Information Store db offline (unmount). So I got that to work.

The next step is to defrag that db, but I'm running low on drive space on
the C: drive (2.5GB free) and it gets about 16% through the defrag process
and aborts because of low disk space. Is there anyway to have it put its
temp defrag files on another drive?

Something blocking OWA from working.

Posted: 05 Feb 2007 01:36 PM PST

We are trying to access the outlook web mail from outside the
organization.
This computer is a windows 2003 server with exchange 2003 on it.
Inside the organization it works fine. We can access mail via exchange
and via the web eg we type in http://10.1.0.2/exchange and we get the
password box and mail.

However we we try to access it through a router that is directly
connect to the DMZ and to a second port on the computer it does not
work.

eg DMZ --> Router --> Nic2 ---Win2003/Exchange Server.

To try to make things simple to just see if we could simply get to the
server we stopped iis and the owa and put in a little web program on
the Win2003 server. Just to see if we could access it on this machine,
but we cant.
In testing our rourter configuration we have put this same web program
on a laptop and set it up in the following way
DMZ --> Router --> Nic ---Laptop (with web server program).

This WORKS. But when we swap out the laptop and plug in the Win2003/
Exchange Server it does not. Its like there is something on this
computer that is preventing it from working.

Corrupt Information Store (Exchange 2003)

Posted: 05 Feb 2007 11:32 AM PST

Perhaps related, but I have an additional issue.

For the last few nights (well 3 of 5), users have lost connectivity to the
Exchange server. On the server itself, all services are running and there
are absolutely no errors in the Event Viewer that are unusual. All users are
affected by this and a restart pf the server is the only thing I've found to
resolve it.

Please advise.

When I last did this a long time ago, I noticed that I needed to allow the
age limits to play catch-up. Let me explain. Suppose you have some items
100 days old in the public folder and you set the age limit to 90 days. I
noticed that nothing got deleted. I manually removed items such that the
oldest item was less than 90 days old, say 88 days. Then, as the oldest
items became 90 days old, they were purged correctly. Perhaps you can give
this a try on a folder that doesn't contain too many old items first - I'd
be interested to know if this is still the case.

Problem solved. I was misguided. The problem seems to lie in the EHLO
command.

I disabled the EHLO command on my side (client) to only use HELO and now the
emails
are accepted from the eSafe Mailserver.

I don't know, which side causes the problem.

Perhaps the EHLO implementation of Exchange 2007
is buggy, but the only problematic servers for us until now were eSafe
Mailservers.

Exchange Server RAM Utilization

Posted: 28 Jan 2007 09:46 AM PST

I don't believe I would do that. The issue is that if you have more than
4GB in a server, the PAE kernal is loaded. When the PAE kernal is loaded,
Each PTE takes twice as much RAM, so the the number of available PTEs is cut
in half. On an application server with a lot of network/disk IO (read
Exchange) this can be quite problematic and lead to instability. Kernal
mode drivers use PTEs as pointers to buffers. An exapmle of a kernal mode
driver is your HBA or SCSI adapter driver.

A better solution would be to determine what is running in inetinfo's
address space that is consuming the memory. I'd start with Ninja.

A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found

Posted: 31 Jan 2007 07:27 AM PST

Hi Elizabeth,

Assuming you have the Office 2003 Professional Edition CD available see if you're able to uninstall the Standard Edition package.
The missing file belongs to that edition and sometimes things get a bit confused when there are two product suites of the same
series installed for versions prior to Office 2007.

If you get an error message when doing so you may need to use this utility to remove the standard edition
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295823/en-us?FR=1
then, restart the PC and do a repair/reinstall of Office 2003 Professional Edition with that CD from Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel.

of Standard Edition, but I wanted the Professional Edition, so I
bought Professional. Gee, that was three years ago. Anyway, like I
said it, wasn't until I updated to IE7 that I started getting this

If I search for sku*.* on the CD, it finds four files:
SKU026.CAB
SKU0A4.CAB
SKU111.CAB
SKU111.XML

Interesting how your story starts out "I have..." and then changes to

Full Verison or Upgrade Office 2007

MS Office upgrade packages do not require that you have a qualifying product already installed, only that you have the product
CD/disk available when you do install the newer product. There is no change from prior versions for the 2007 Office products in
this.

================
<<"Another Brian" <nocom> wrote in message news:eNVuF$phx.gbl...
The Vista upgrade version requires that Win2k or Win XP already be
installed on the computer. You can no longer install the upgrade
version on a blank hard drive and simply insert the qualifying product
CD at the appropriate time. I don't (yet) know that M$ has done the
same to the upgrade version of Office 2007. I'm sure that someone will
be letting us know very soon.

It is interesting that the program should be so hard to install; especially

I have just given up not only on the trial idea but I don't plan to upgrade
either. I will let others crash and loose matrial all for the sake of making
Microsoft richer. Tomorrow the new version is availible in stores; I wonder
if it will be as hard to install?

If you have access to a plotter, that will be your best bet for printing the

Documentation on Cost Rate Tables

Posted: 27 Jul 2005 01:34 PM PDT

Others have answered your immediate question but adding my 2 cents, I'd
suggest you be extremely cautious about trying to track revenues in MS
Project. It's not an accounting or a time and billing application and
attemtping to use it as such is likely to be highly misleading, potentially
with disasterous results for your business. The costs it's tracking are
intended to be an estimate of your costs of doing the actual project work
and to monitor progress against that budget. What you bill your clients to
do the project for them also needs to include other overheads, rents, costs
of capital, depreciation, and profit margins - all factors that Project
essentially doesn't even know exist. If you try to track revenues in the
project through the use of custom fields, Project will post the cost of the
task against your budget when the task is worked and will assume the
revenues have been received as the work was performed, being paid instantly
as the customer's obligation is accrued. This is obviously not realistic.
Use Project for planning the schedule and estimating the project's costs -
it does a great job of that - but don't try to get it to do double duty as a
project accounting application as well. It just isn't the right tool for
that job.

Newbie question

Posted: 26 Jul 2005 10:00 PM PDT

Thanks guys

I've got my team to read this. It's making sense to them as well. I'll
have to investigate levelling a little more.

We're getting around the variations by only scheduling 1 month at a time.
Our users priorities change too much to schedule more than that anyway. So
when people look at us as a resource, they will only see the next months
work. This might create problems in the long run, but it should work for now.

Thanks again.

Auto Calculating Fields

Posted: 26 Jul 2005 08:17 PM PDT

Hi,

Duration and cost are not custom fields.
Duration is roolled up in a sence that duration on the summary line reflects
the difference between start and finish (start of the ealiest task, end of
the latest). Indeed, sometimes changi,ng the duration of a task influences
duration of the summaryu task, sometimes it doesn't.

Fixed Cost is NOT rolled up to the summary lines, but Total cos ("Cost") is.

microsoft project 2000 custom critical path

Posted: 26 Jul 2005 01:26 PM PDT

I have taken this discussion to the Development Discussion Board becuase I
think my problem may require VBA. The problem is that I don't want the CP
calculated for EVERY endpoint in my schedule, only three specific ones.

Thank yo very much, Bryan!

I'll verify if a AD backup is available. If not, I'll try the steps you
proposed.

Recommendations for Add-On that helps Prioritise Activities

Posted: 25 Feb 2005 03:43 AM PST

One of the components of c360's Activity Summary is "My Summary" - it's a
page that shows all open activities assigned to the user.
The user preferences can be set per user to display any field from the
activities.

Add-on recommendations - Viewing History for a customer

If you want to see all activity across an account, then nothing beats VAST
from Visionary Software. VAST audits everything that everyone does in CRM,
and then presents the data in user customizable forms.

Download a free trial at www.vscrm.com.

Hi Eric and Dave,

Thanks for your asstance. Question Eric, if I change the one on the
Opportunity/Administration form will it change the one on the pop-up form? I
did not think they were linked or the same field. I will try anyway.

Thanks!

Customize Sales Territories

Posted: 24 Feb 2005 01:19 PM PST

Is this view compiled code? I can see the XML code behind many of the forms
and views that I can alter and feel comfortable alter it (whenever I can find
the file) and would feel just as comfortable doing the same with the Sales
Territory Manager view.

Primary contact firstname and last name on Account Form

I am not sure that this is an easy task but if you are trying to do this for
mail merge purposes you might want to use a contact view and add columns for
first name and last name. You have a company field and this might give you
the desired effect. You can also do this in a report using crystal reports.

CRM Server Installation Problem!!

Sorry Stelios, I was a fast/lazy reader... You did remove both the OU and the
database...
Those error messages are typical for that problem.

I think I've seen the same error messages appearing when the database server
we tried to install on was on another vlan, and some Cisco filtering did
interfere. We moved the database server to the same vlan, and everything went
fine.
