Please note that we can open the file off the USB drive at any location that
has Works. The filed did open about two weeks ago and now wont. I answered

How do you set an appointment reminder on the Calendar in Works 8?

Posted: 04 Jan 2008 01:11 PM PST

Re: The choices are 15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 1/2 day 1 day and 1 week.

I think you can also type the reminder time in the drop down arrow box.

If one wants forty five minute reminder they would type 45 min, for two
hours they would type 2 hr.

Works/Printer problem

Posted: 01 Jan 2008 06:51 AM PST

Excuse me for jumping in here, but as another 4.5 user, if I were to face
the problem of a printer not working with 4.5, I would just print to pdf,
and then to the printer. Yes, an extra PIA step, but at least I wouldn't
have to give up on 4.5. If you don't have one go to www.primopdf.com for a
greet little freebie. I just tried it with one of my old mail merge letter
templates, and it even works with mail merge.

HP is building planned obsolescence into their product line these days.
Rather than update their drivers and support existing printers they would
prefer you to buy a new printer. Of course they are going to point the blame
at other people... I have a 17 year old HP Laser that still plugs along,
while I have gone through several inkjets because of driver problems. The
last time I switched to Canon and don't plan on going back.

Saving Works Word document as Word document

Posted: 31 Dec 2007 05:02 AM PST

Hi ChrisY,

Over the years I have discovered most if not all Word Processors can open
documents saved in Rich Text Format [*.rtf].

If you plan on sharing your documents with others and do not know which Word
Processor they use you might think about using the .rtf format. It's the
format I use.

However, if I want the other person to view the document exactly the same as
it displays on my computer then I save it in .pdf format. PDF documents
open with Adobe Reader and most everybody has Adobe Rader on their computer.

I use Free CutePDF Writer to accomplish this. There are other free PDF
writers available, a internet search will turn them up.

Hope this helps,
Ken

If I click on the user, his calendar is showed in the main fraime.
This is a very fast and easy setup to work with different calendars of other

Also other customisation can be done without the need of rewriting the

sounds good? please help me to implement it :-)

Yes this seems to be the critical hanging point. I needed to break out my

since ConsoleOne is now the preferred method for managing GroupWise. Anways,

Running Multiple Exchange Servers

Posted: 14 Mar 2006 05:52 PM PST

*Yes, they are in the same Forest, yes they are in the same exchange
organization.

*The NEW exchange server can ping the FQDNS of both my GC's. My new
exchange server is not a DC. Both DCs can ping his workstation name.

*No Smarthosts are setup, I did some research on it and could not find
a clear explination of what it was for. I found plenty of examples of
where to use it but my situation is odd. Explain to me what this
smarthosting exactly is, maybe thats my problem.

*Network connectivity is good, they are all on the same subnet, on the
same switch.

*Just checked, they are both in the same routing group.

2 (or more servers.. I think the upper limit seen in operation is 1000
Exchange servers per Exchange Org) can exist in a Forest.
- Are they in the same Forest? If yes, they belong to the same Exchange
Org.
- Can they resolve each other's fqdn? Can they resolve fqdns of GCs?
Test
name resolution.
- Does either server has a smarthost setup in SMTP virtual server
properties? Good practice to always use smarthosts on Connectors, not
SMTP
virtual servers.
- Do both of them have connectivity to each other and GCs?
- Did you add them to the same Routing Group? That'd be the default,
but if
you didn't, you could move them to the same Routing Group. Else, you'll
need
Routing Group Connectors on both ends to make them route to each other.

Smart Host and Internet Mail Service General Tab

Posted: 14 Mar 2006 02:40 PM PST

i) It is generally not advisable to insert smarthost in smtp virtual server
settings - this should be done on SMTP Connectors as you seem to be doing.
ii) Selecting "Use DNS... " does not uses a smarthost but delivers mail
directly using DNS lookups (to find out which mail hosts outbound mail for
that Connector needs to be routed to).
iii) The Smarthost settings (where you had IP address) will take either an
IP address [in square brackets if using IPs], or a fqdn, or a domain name.
(If you insert a domain it will lookup MX records for that domain). Using
fqdn is preferable over IP addresses - if the actual IP addresses change,
you don't need to take any action on your side, and if they're using
multiple hosts with same fqdn (DNS round robin) you will benefit from the
redundancy.

1 is listed as the RDNS. I was incorrect in my original statement. It does
not appear they are requiring the RDNS to match as you stated. Thank

If ISP’s do start requiring this would we have to have a separate exchange

possibilities?

- You can't replicate mailboxes to another server - if that's what you're

Having said that, you should be ok with moving mailboxes to that server.
It's a tried and tested process and doesn't by itself corrupt a mailbox,
afaik.

- Public Folders are replicated to other Exchange servers in the Org from
the Replicas tab of the public folder's properties. This can be automated
using pfmigrate.wsf, including removal of the replicats from the old server.

Ben,
Thanks for the advice.
It worked fine and I found that the DC Baseline Policy (template applied a

In fact, once you migrate to the W2K3 domain, the policy is not visible any

So I changed the NNTP and WWW services and it works fine.

Attachments seem to get lost when using a contact from the address book

It is.
But it handles these outgoing mail in the same way, wether you choose
com or com, right?
So why is he stripping the attachments for the alias, and not for the actual
address?
Or am I talking nonsense here?

Or change the Distribution Group to a shared Mailbox and add the mailbox to
everyone's profile. Mail enabled Public Folder would work too but MS is
moving away from Public Folders so if you created it that way, you would
just have to undo it in the near future anyway...

Voicemail storage in Exchange 2003 and backups

Posted: 11 Mar 2006 03:44 PM PST

Quite possibly the outcome of the extra space required of voice mails. One
option is to add more disk and have backups run to a file on the new disk
and then use backup software to backup the file. One of the problems of
backup up large amounts of storage is the extra complexity and cost of
having adequate backup and recovery.

Setting tabel defaults

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 01:23 PM PST

I've got a table looking the way I want and now I want to have it in the table styles gallery and use it as default - how do I do this. It seems I can only make a new table style from the gallery. I have to add the table style to many templates so I don't want to have to set new table style properties for each template, can I 'save selection as new table style' as I can for para styles?

Changing colours in compatibility mode

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 01:19 PM PST

I've made a template in MSWord 2010, now they client wants 97-2003 versions. So I save using compatibility mode but the colour palette and theme revert to MSOffice default and lose the colours I've set. If I go back and make 2010 doc then I can reapply the theme but how do I get those colours to stick when I save a 97-2003 version or how can I change them in that version while I'm using MSWord 2010?

Customizing Word theme colours to be more than 10 colours

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 01:14 PM PST

Hi

My brand has more than the 10 colors. Office doesn't allow you to add more that 10 to the theme colours in your template. I am setting the brand guidelines into microsoft office templates (word, ppt, excel) for internal use. Have been specifically asked to provide all colours. any suggestions/workaround? I use word 2011 on mac & there I can manage because when I go to 'More Colors', the dialog box has options. But this is not the case for other word versions in use in my workplace.

Word 2010; Table of Contents problem

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 11:41 AM PST

I am attempting to create a Table of Contents (TOC) for a thesis, using Word 2010's 'Automatic' feature to do so.

After following the steps and choosing 'Automatic Table 1' the TOC programme seems to miniaturise the ENTIRE document, and after allocating a page number to each item presents it as a completed Table of Contents.

Included in this are all the footnotes, charts, photographs and bibliographic entries within the work.

As these do not normally form part of a TOC, and are definitely not what I want, how do I persuade the programme to only provide me with a list of Chapter Headings and subheadings - or do I have  to use the TOC's manual table (Table 3) to get the result I want?

Thanks.

Multiple Page Numbers Within the Same Document Page

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 09:14 AM PST

I have many documents that contain a body of the document followed by attachments.

The entire document is page numbered in the footer as "Page 1 of 32".

The attachments continue with this numbering in the footer based on the entire document.

The attachments also are individually numbered in the header as "Page 1 of 5".

EXAMPLE:

The body contains 10 pages.

Attachment A contains 5 pages.

Attachment B contains 10 pages.

Attachment C contains 7 pages.

The total document pages are 32.

So that the third page of attachment A is numbered "Page 13 of 32 in the footer, and it is numbered "Page 3 of 5" in the header.

I know this can be accomplished using formulas in the field codes.

I have bookmarked the end of each section as:

   SectionP for the body,

   SectionA for attachment A

   SectionB for attachment B, etc.

I am also having difficulty directly typing the filed code braces "{ }" without incurring a syntax error.

I can use CTRL+F9 to directly type into the document, but the formula does not function.

Also, I cannot use CTRL+F9 to enter a brace into the formula window.

office 365 ms word crashes when document is full height and try to resize its width

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 08:52 AM PST

Hi,

I am using Office 365. In word after I have sized a document to full height by dragging the bottom border of the window down to the bottom edge of the screen and then try to change the width of the document by dragging the right border to increase the window size, the window becomes black. A error message screen appears and asks to send a report. This has happened four times in the last two days. I have performed a repair of Office 365 and the problem has happened again twice today. The only other window opened is Excel that occupies the right edge of the screen.

I am using a HP Pavillion laptop running Windows 7 - 64 bit version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can't save any new word documents

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 08:17 AM PST

Ever since I purchased my new computer, I have had trouble with MSWord. If I create a new document, I cannot save it anywhere (computer, cloud, flash drive)! However, if I have a document already saved to my flash drive, I can update that document and save it. If I try "save as" and rename the document, it won't save.

This problem could be as simple as user error (I am not used to the new save interface) or maybe there is some other step I have to do to prove that I paid for the software (I am signed in and everything).

User error? I click Save As --> Computer--> Desktop and nothing happens. I've tried clicking on Browse (on other folders as well), but nothing happens when I click. Double clicking doesn't work either... Is my computer giving me the silent treatment?!

Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 Error Message: "there is insufficient memory or disk space. close extra windows and save your work"

Posted: 23 Feb 2014 06:20 AM PST

Hello I am hoping someone else has heard or knows something about this.  I tried Googling this error message but it usually pertains to someone trying to save a file or copy and pasting.  This is neither of those.

I have:

Microsoft Word for Mac 2011

Version 14.2.9

All updates made

My computer is:

iMac

Late 2012

2.9 Ghz Intel Core i5

8GB 1600MHz DDR3

I currently have 1.11 TB of memory Free which is more then enough

This issue has never happened and only started today.

I opened up Microsoft Word.  Opened a blank document.  Went to "Format" and then "Paragraph" and this message came up:

"there is insufficient memory or disk space. close extra windows and save your work"

I had no other documents open in Word and no other applications open on my Desktop.  I tried restarting Word and the computer and the same thing happened again.

Any ideas?

Every time I opened the assignment my all my work was there. I finally finished it and closed out of it, like I had done many times before, I went into my documents to find my other assignments and when I opened the assignment I had just finished, it was only a third of the way done! I tried to close and reopen it, and undo it. I looked everywhere in my documents and deleted files and couldn't find the completed one anywhere!! Please help me find it so I do not have to basically start all over. Please!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!

How to recover "repaired" word document?

Posted: 22 Feb 2014 11:54 PM PST

I was using microsoft word and word crashed for around the 5th time today. Usually the recovery system works perfectly but this time an important document was listed as "repaired". Due to a mis-click I accepted the repaired document rather than the original document and it seems that half of the document's data has been lost.

The word documents I am using are full of image files with the word documents having up to 20 Mb.

MS word crashes almost the second I make a word document 22 inches wide (normal layout).

I tried to use

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/recover-an-earlier-version-of-an-office-file-HA010356735.aspx

to recover my older versions of the document but there is nothing in the "manage versions" and "unsaved files" folders. I think the crash was so hard it emptied them.

I have windows 8.1, an Acer laptop, 600 GB of free memory and Office 2013 which I downloaded from my university.

How can I prevent MS word from crashing all the time?

How can I access a previous saves of the word document?

Office Word does not open to correct window size

Posted: 22 Feb 2014 09:29 PM PST

I am running Office 2007 in Windows 7 and suddenly my Word windows are no longer opening at the same size they always have before.  This is the way the window has always opened before when I start Office Word (this is my preferred work area as I have another window open beside it most of the time).

About a week ago for some reason this is how it opens now.

Is there anyone who can tell me how to get Word to open the way it did before?  I have tried using the Start, right-click, Properties, open maximized method but it didn't work.  It still opened exactly as in the second image.  Word will not open either maximized or in the configuration I originally had it opening in.

All other programs on my computer open maximized, Office Word seems to be the only thing affected like this.  Excel still opens full size.

Chicago Style Bibliography

Posted: 22 Feb 2014 05:20 PM PST

I purchased Word 2013 because I wanted to use some features like referencing that were not as user friendly on my other word processor. I am trying to use Chicago Style and I  notice the date is not at the end like it says it should  be on the official Chicago Style webpage. Why is this happening? This is very frustrating to me as I thought I could trust this program and now I feel like I wasted my money.

This is was I get:

This is what is should be:

Have you made sure that the user that is installing the client setup is a

It is trying to connect to CRM server via a SOAP API call, and if you are
not valid CRM user (that means, the AD user account needs to be in CRM AND
have a valid license assigned to it), it will come back as cannot find CRM

Restrict default values in Crystal parameters?

Posted: 25 Oct 2004 01:45 PM PDT

Bamboo,

You might try and create a Crystal Report using Visual Studio .NET. This
enables you to create C# code behind the report allowing further
customizations of the report. With these expanded possibilities you can set
report parameters and create your own picklists. You'll need to create your
own asp.net page using a reportviewer though.

I hope this can help you any further,

License migration

I'd look into the Redeployment Manager for specific direction on how to use it.
but, you will basically need first export the existing system from a functioning
CRM system. Then you use the Redeployment Manager to create a new DB and then
run the CRM install to "point" to that DB.

To be safe, you will probably want to be able to have both systems running at
the same time, so you would be safest if you had an extra server for this
exercise.

My take on this is that it would be a EULA violation. You are effectively
giving multiple people access to CRM through the same license.

Convert Lead > Account-Contact-Opportunity Error

Posted: 25 Oct 2004 08:45 AM PDT

Hi Mathieu,

There are two ways to solve this.
1) assign the user a licence again convert the lead then or
2) modify the database and convert the lead then.

There's a database called [CompanyName]_MSCRM. In that database, there's the
table LeadBase. This is the table where all the leads are stored. You can
update there the OwningUser of the leads, with your own userid. You can find
your own userid in the table SystemUserBase or by going to the crm app and
surfing to the user configuration. Open your own user there and press ctrl+n.
A new window will open with your userid in the address bar.

When the owning user has been changed to one with a licence (and enough
rights ofcourse) you can convert it as you wish.

Good luck,

(Have you looked at the log file? It gets created on the root level of the
drive, if you used the splash screen to run the setup.)

Most likely you are having issues with DNS configuration on either the
Microsoft CRM Server or on the DNS server.

- Please ensure that the correct IP address is specified for the primary DNS
server in the TCP/IP settings on the CRM Server.

- If you made changes you will need to go to a command prompt and type
ipconfig /flushdns followed by ipconfig /register.

- Make sure you can do an nslookup Server name from and to all CRM Servers
(Exchange, SQL, CRM, Active Directory).

- Check to make sure that your DNS server is allowing Dynamic updates (in
the forward lookup zone).

C360 Tools: Ease of Use?

Posted: 25 Oct 2004 05:55 AM PDT

I highly recommend all the c360 products Tony.
As an implemter and end user site we have most of the c360 products
installed and running.
The Searchpac paid for itself in the first few days in time and effort saved
creating user defined views.
The Merge and Update functions have saved hours in Merging duplicate records
and bulk updating of records.

Installation is straight forward and much smpler now they have included an
installation tool (was a manual process before).

Probably my only problem is the turn around in getting new licenses paid for
(we invoice from Zurich Switzerland, but you can pay by credit card which
would be much quicker of course) Also, if you don't get enough licenses and
add one more user to CRM the c360 products stop working. Highly annoying but
licensing in CRM is an annoyance anyhow.

I would also recommend you take a look at Greater Than Two's offerings for
MS CRM. Some useful add ons which I had a hand in designing the concepts.
The web based Activity Popup reminder is one of them.
