Yeah, Kevin. I ran the search for "odd" and unfortunately Works does not
support the printing of just odd or just even pages. Thanks for the help on
the search word. I was searching "odd or even" and got nothing. Now I can
stop banging my head against the wall.

And yes Darcus, it did help. Now I can insert page numbers on all the
pages. Thanks.

Use landscape layout, set margins to .5 all the way around
the page, set .5 for headers and footers and then test
print. Make sure the columns are not set too wide, size
them to just fit the data.

Microsoft Word Labels question

Good plan Ken, but I would perhaps add one step. If the OP has problems
pasting the html formatted list of numbers into Word, I would use Paste
Special and paste the list as plain text.

Are you trying to open a Text file in a blank Spreadsheet or does the
spreadsheet alreayd have any information in it.

If its a blank Spreadsheet use File->Open and Open the text file.
else
the method suggested my Michael will be better for you. (Copy paste the

No, you are not. I hate the new tasklauncher too. Works 7's tasklauncher
could at least show lists and even with my own templates in it. This
option has been taken away from us. The programmers do as they like
taking away choices from us as if we were small children.

You may write them of course, but don't hope they will listen. How many
times did we ask for restoration of the formatting of numbers in mail
merge? They did not listen. We asked for the restoration of
autohyphenation, it did not happen. We asked for easy format, we did not
get it back.

The solution is to make a folder on the desktop that contains shortcuts
to the programs you use and to your templates. Then you can forget about
the tasklauncher and will never see the monstrosity again.

How to open an e-mailed xl document with Microsoft Works Suite 200

WORKS can "sort of" open an Excel file, but it cannot show
the file in all the levels. You can get a free Excel file
viewer that will allow you to see and print the file.

Works / Excel

Posted: 31 Mar 2005 07:38 AM PST

If you still have Works on the old PC, the better route is to open the WKS file in Works
there, then do a File, Save As to Excel format. That will transfer the formulas, although
some tweaking may be required.

If you instead do the File, Save As to CSV format as the previous poster suggested, you
will get data only

To add to George's reply,

If you're in Office XP or 2003 you can use Insert=>Diagram
and choose Org Chart. If in earlier versions of Office,
Insert=>Object and choose Microsoft Organization Chart.
For use in Powerpoint and Visio you can download some
sample layouts from
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT010000401033.aspx

Otherwise, using MS Office Visio or http://orgplus.com
may work for you. It can depend on how complex your
chart is.

MSO97.dll

No luck :(

I looked into everything in the article you supplied and went
through all steps suggested. Everything is in its place. All
office apps work except PP. Tried temporarily moving the
mso97.dll and mso7enu.dll and copying them fresh from disk but
something is sharing them and won't let me move or delete them. I
can't figure it out. I don't use PP hardly at all and can live

its supposed to. Wonder if I need to uninstall and reinstall.
Surely is a simpler solution but it escapes me right now.

Pasquale, did you by any chance untar this thing on a Winidows machine and
copy it over to Linux using a text-file transfer mode, such as FTP in

The NTFS drivers were originally not written to have write access on
NTFS partitions. In general it is not a good idea to have write access
to NTFS partitions due to the nature that windows index the files.

USB Keyboard doesn't work under Mandrake 10.1

Hmm, I had almost exactly the same problem with my USB keyboard in FC2,
except that I could get it to work with the stock 2.6.5 kernel and not
at all with the stock 2.6.8 kernel. Turning off kudzu didn't seem to
make a difference for me, either. What *did* seem to make a difference
was getting the 2.6.8 sourcecode and compiling my own kernel, which
really isn't difficult. I was going to compile my own kernel anyway,
since I wanted ntfs filesystem support and the stock kernels don't seem
to have that compiled in.

So far I've had to recompile my 2.6.8 custom kernel once after getting a
whole bunch of updates with the Redhat Up2date tool and having my USB
keyboard work erratically (sometimes worked, sometimes didn't) --
recompiling solved the problem.

I don't know enough about Linux to have a clue if that means anything,
but maybe someone else will have a lightbulb moment from it.

Hi,

I had tried the double quotes. It does not work either. If I don't put <>
before and after, the only the part of the link up to a space will be
hyperlinked.
ex: file://c:/my documents/january
This would be underlined and blue up to "my". Hence I need the <> for the
whole thing the be underlined and blue. Yet, the link does not work.

I tried on both 2002 and 2003 versions : it works fine for me on the Work

How do I span a 50 hrs task throughout the 3 months of my project.

Posted: 18 Sep 2004 06:01 AM PDT

Steve,

A valid point........and an omission on my part to include the final step of
amending the task-type....if so required. This was mainly due to the fact
that you'd conveyed a pretty good understanding of the underlying principles
in your initial answer. I felt, however, that your answer could have become
lost amongst such "principles".

I feel equally as strongly as you, about the way project programming needs
to be approached. As such, I also get the urge to convey the basic
principles. However, my experience also tells me that, when a person is
looking for an answer, especially a written one, they need it at the
beginning of the "reply", and with minimal additional "data". By all means
convey the supporting principles and caveats associated with any particular
answer....but even then, it has to be in short, sharp chunks, post answering
the initial question.

Cheers.

Leveling - Resources are not leveled

Posted: 17 Sep 2004 12:43 PM PDT

"Start no earlier" and "must start on" are two very different critters. And
yes, the SNE is perfectly valid for the situation where the task can't start
because the hardware isn't available prior to a certain date - modeling that
reality is exactly why such constraints exist. But your original message
said the tasks have "must start on" constraints. SNE usually won't
interfere with leveling while MSO, "Must Finish On," and "Finish No Later
Than" constraints on tasks following the overallocations almost always will.
MSO means it simply will happen on that date regardless of anything the
resources or PM does, like the scheduling of when Christmas comes you
literally have no control over it.

multipy 2 values in a cell?

Posted: 17 Sep 2004 12:14 PM PDT

Hi Jack,
Thank you for your respond.
I have already "Number 1" for value entry and "Number 7"
for the product based on the micro. This micro is summing
the valuesfor the the filterd projects by the date range
and I am absolutely okay with it.
With respect to my problem, is there any way to customize
the customized column "number 1" to allow me to multiply
two numbers? Maybe I should create another column let
say "number 3" and link the product "number 3" to
my "number 7" which has the micro?
Please advisae.

Can't I save a MS Project Report?

Posted: 17 Sep 2004 09:42 AM PDT

Melissa,
I might as well throw my hat in the ring also. As Mike noted, Project
does not allow built-in Reports to be saved, directly. However, if you
have some experience with VBA, you can develop a macro that takes the
same information in any of the built-in Reports and exports it to
another application. I do it all the time by exporting to Excel. This
approach also allows the report to be customized to your exact needs.

At least this is another option.

Duration ?

Posted: 17 Sep 2004 06:35 AM PDT

There are a couple ways to do this but I think the easiest to follow is this
....

You don't need to worry about the task type or anything like that, the
default "fixed units" type will work fine. Remember duration is the time
span from when work first begins until when it's done - it is NOT the
"window" during which the work might be done before some deadline. So
saying your task is 2 weeks duration and requires 16 man-hours of work means
that the resource is going to be spending a part of each day on it, but not
his full work day, spread out for a period of 2 weeks. For him to
accomplish 16 hours of work (2 workday's worth) output spread out over 2
weeks (10 workdays) means he is devoting, on average, 20% of his energy each
day to the task. Thus over the course of 10 days he creates the same output
that would have taken him 2 days if he had worked on it full-tilt. So enter
the task with either a 10 day or 2 week duration, they're the same thing if
you work a 5 day week, and assign the resource at a 20% assignment level in
the resource assignment window. Project will calculate the task's work for
you to be 16 hours and you're done.

Hi Trevor

(how's life "over east"?)
if you're using Project 2002 or 2003 the date is displayed next to the
baseline level under tools / tracking / save baseline. I'm not sure how you
can do it in earlier versions.

Coordinating multiple projects

Posted: 16 Sep 2004 01:15 PM PDT

Hi,

I don't understand the logic of not immediately updating. Use deadlines to
show when something in another schedule is needed in yours. I use deadlines,
because showing all tasks swamps the user. Milestones are easier to manage.

The code I've written is for Project 2003 and wouldn't work on Project
2000..

How do I import an existing enterprise resource pool from Project.

Exactly where do you see this calendar error? While importing the resources
using the Import Resources Wizard, you do not need to have any projects open
or the Enterprise Global open either.

Strange Excel Problem (not printing): Excel 2004 & Leopard

Posted: 07 Feb 2008 09:05 AM PST

In fact, I never use the formula bar. I always type directly into the cells,
and I haven't changed the "Edit directly in the cell" checkbox in the
preferences - I've always had that checked.

The text is set to black, and as I mentioned, I do see it when I double-click
and then type into the cell. Interestingly, since starting this thread this
morning, I haven't been having the problem. I can click in the cell, type in
it, see what I've typed, and everything is fine.

I have no idea why that is working intermittently now, but at least it's
working for the moment.

Thanks for your help in trying to troubleshoot. It's definitely a strange
issue...

The toolbars won't snap into place if you drag them; instead, you will need
to ctrl/right-click the main toolbar and choose Customise Toolbars and

name in the Dock column.

ac_2008_on_multi_user_co.html>

It's only supposed to hit users with non-admin privileges. I have several
admin Users and can open Entourage 2008 in other users with no problems.

This might be a combo of a system and Office problem. Have you run Repair
Permissions since installing Leopard?

Using Repair Permissions after installing MS Office or any application that
uses an installer is often advised. To use Repair Permissions:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.

Don't run from CD. Updates contain a newer versions of the application's
permissions.
