How do I combine content so that 5 lines do not take up a whole printed page?

Within my document I have noticed that some content is taking up a whole printed page, how do I re-adjust the content so that the content is moved up to the previous page?

table of contents gives an error

I am using MS Office Word 2010 and Windows 7 on a single user computer.

 

After creating a table of contents it updates fing but when I press CTRL+ Click I get "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.".

I am the ADMIN and I did not set up any restrictions.

 

So the Question: How do I fix this?

can use word in desktop mode.  Excel, powerpoint and note work from the windows 8 menu.  Not word.  Search doesn't find app. Only finds wordpad. Help

Need answer quickly - CMYK Color conversion

Hi, I have used Word 2003 to create a print book with lots of images that need to be in CMYK for the printer.  What is the easiest way to convert them to CMYK?  I use Publisher to design book covers in CMYK, but trying to avoid having to now convert each page from the Word file to a Publisher page.  I tried importing the file into Publisher, but it only took the text and no images.  Need to get to the printer asap.

Is it possible to insert a footnote (in draft view) without the document map automatically closing?

It is annoying having to turn it back on again and then navigate back to the section you were originally editing.

Office Home and Student crashes when saving/closing document

I've been battling this issue for weeks now.  System is a Vista Home Premium with a recently loaded 2010 edition of Office Home and Student.  It replaced an Office 2007 Pro set up that was also having the same problem - Word, Excel, etc. randomly crashes when trying to save or close a document.  Mr FixIt has been run, Add-ins have been eliminated, the Error Log has been reveiwed, and all updates have been backed out but the same problem continues.  The Geak Squad recommends a complete reload of the entire system and all software but still won't guarantee it will be fixed.   Any ideas?

I tried all different ways and I could not make it!!!
First I was receiving page No. 7 at my seventh page and my document numbers were from the first page!
When No. 1 shows on the bottom of the 7th page then all other pages also become 1.
I am really confused. Please help me.

Mike,
I can assign a task if:
1) I open the activity and choose Actions-Assign
2) From within the activities list in CASES by
highlighting the activity and selecting Actions-Assign.

However, I can't
1) assign the activity from My Workplace without opening
the activity, and
2) Much more importantly, assign an activity when
scheduling it - there is a search button, but it looks
like Microsoft ran out of time to enable the
functionality.

Given 95% of our activities are scheduled by a Customer
Service Rep on behalf of another employee, this 'double
action' assignment would be frustrating.

Any thoughts?

As mike said, it should be in the new IG (Installation Guide, pdf format),
that comes in the server CD.

However, I'd just like to personally point out that its not very well
documented, but then again the upgrade isn't very complex.........hopefully
you were the one that installed 1.0 and know your environment.....

Everything you want to do is very possible and not difficult however keep in
mind that the license for CRM states thats every user connecting to CRM in
any way requires a license. This means if you were using CRM for a support
department and had 5 support guys you would think that you would need 5
licenses. However if you then created a web front end so customers could log
their own issues, each customer would have to have their own license for CRM
as well.

If you developed the application in .Net then the problem usually relates to
the fact that when ASP.Net run it uses a local machine ASPNet account to
access the database. If the database is on a separate server within the
domain it will not recognize the local account. Several ways to handle this
but the quickest (but not the most secure) is to go into the machine.config
on the server where the ASP.Net application runs and change the username and
password under the <ProcessModel> section to be a domain user account and
password. Then go over to the SQL Server system and grant the domain
account login rights, access to the databases you need, and permissions on
the objects you need. Generally when you set up a Visual Studio development
system it assumes everything is local and you need to define security for a
multi-system production mode.

I am doing mail merges from CSV files, and am looking to print a full page set of labels for each record. There are hundreds of records, so I am printing hundreds of label sheets with X number of labels each. I saw how to use the simple label tool to print a full page of address labels, and the tip about removing the <<next>> tag to avoid incrementing records. Basically I'd like <<next>> at the top of each page, incrementing a new record for every sheet.

When I try to start microsoft word (2010) I get the circle loading sign for about 2 seconds and then nothing happens. I have checked in the event viewer and have a large number of errors with SideBySide being common to all of them. I have tried a clean boot and followed all of the instructions on the cleanboot walkthrough, but the problem still occurs. An example of the properties of one of these errors is here: Activation context generation failed for "C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office14\WWLIB.DLL".Error in manifest policy file "C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office14\WWLIB.DLL"on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

When I tried to open up a document in Microsoft Word it opens and then the screen freezes when I try to click around through the document. At the top it will say that "Microsoft Word is not responding", but I also noticed that at the bottom it said "connecting to printer. Press ESC to stop." So I press ESC and the document comes back and it is fine to click around. I just want to know how I can get the documents to stop connecting immediately to the printer so that there is no "freezing" involved.

I have recently been experiencing a recurring problem with Word - when I try to Save As a document Word crashes. "Microsoft Word has stopped working" appears on the screen, followed by a message that an error has caused the program to stop working and 'Close Program' is the only option. I was running Office 2007 but after repeated Googling and following suggestions to fix the problem (disable add-ins, delete normal.dot, delete certain registry keys) I decided my best bet would be to do a full uninstall and download and install Office 2010. Which I did, only to find the exact same problem occurring! So it wasn't specific to Word in Office 2007, but has continued in Office 2010.

I again tried Googling and applying the various fixes I came across but no success. I also have just downloaded Microsoft's Fix It tool (50204) but this did not fix my problem. I am at my wit's end! I need to able to use Word. It works fine while I am creating a document but crashes when I open a Save dialog (quick saves using the Save button work although Word often still crashes just after doing that).

Note that this problem is NOT specific to a particular document. It has occurred on numerous previously created documents, and also on newly created documents.

I am running Vista Ultimate and Office 2010.

debian 3.0r2: smbfs fails and module not present

Wouldn't the default install be the vanilla package with smbfs support?
With smbfs selected in dselect I don't understand why that doesn't come up
as a dependency problem. Very confusing.

Also, I guess I thought the other kernels were considered unstable options
because if 2.4.x was OK for everything it would have been the default
install. This different kernels for different things is foreign to me.
 
 
 

I did install 2.4xxx on the clone test box I have. It didn't seem to make a
difference but then I'm not sure exactly what I installed. Maybe I
installed a 2.4x without smbfs support or do all 2.4x kernels have smbfs
support?

I'm doing a new install on a Duron 1k box now so I'll try it there to see if
it works. I just selected to add 2.4.18-12.1 during the initial install
selection of dselect. If OK then I'll upgrade the existing Pentium box.

Have you opened a manpage in zless to see what it looks like?

(go to /usr/share/man/man1)

With the right post-processor, they CAN display on a terminal instead of
a sheet of paper....

Bring up a man page and then look at the output of top or ps aux and
checkout the various utilities involved in displaying it on your terminal.


The plain text versions are hardly larger than the gzipped nroff, and display
much faster. I prefer them that way.

confirm I got there ... the last problem was mere stupidity: my
development and production machines run on different architectures
(586/686) and I forgot to change that ...

So, ultimately, the solution to the dummy_do_dep issue seems to be to
remove whatever the offending file in the debian/ directory is (or
removing the whole directory which appears to work quite well for me),
followed by calling make-kpkg.

Need with sound card

Hi

I followed all the instructions on the alsa website. And the card was found.

The problem I see is that it shows 2 number sin the sound card :

8338B
8738

But there seems to be just one driver for them.

Hence when I try using the alsa config - there is no option for SPDIf and
also it gets up in 4 channel mode while my card is a 6 channel acrd

Newer kernels now being distributed are so big, many won't fit on a 1.44Mb
floppy.

LILO "mkrescue" now supports an option, "--iso", to create a bootable CD that
can be burned with 'cdrecord'. Of course, your system must support booting
from an El Torito Bootable CD in 2.88Mb floppy emulation.

I have been using Microsoft Office 2010 for months now with no problems.  I tried to get in last night and a small window comes up, reading "starting...
but doesn't open up full screen.  Troubleshooting said "Incompatiable".  I have not made any changes to my computer only required virus updates.

Please respond.

I am typing out a poem. The first letter of the first word on each line automatically capitalizes. How to have the program not capitalize the first letter of each line?

Some poems have capitalized first letters of first word in each line. We do not want that to be done automatically, for each line is not always begun with capitals.

I downloaded Win 8 from the partner site and also Office 2013 Pro Plus but Word doesn't start with a new document. It stops working.

Opening a old one works fine. The rest of Office 2013 seems to be working.

I repaired but no change then uninstalled and installed again but same failure???

Remove frames?

Hi all

I routinely open pdf documents under Acrobat and then save them as Word documents, then opening them under Word to edit. Sometimes part of these appear as separate framed paragraphs. I would like to remove the frames and keep the text. I have searched for a solution and one says eg 'Select the whole document...' (easy, just ctrl-A) '...and click 'Remove Frames'. But I cannot find 'Remove frames' anywhere on the ribbon.

Where is the pointer in new version of Microsoft word that allows me to circle what I want to group?

The most important tool for drawing has been taken from Microsoft wordl.  It was a pointer that allowed me to circle everything I wanted to group.   Now making many pictures is impossible.  I would also like to have all the tools for drawing in sight all of the time.  Please make these changes for me and all who are as frustrated as me.

Hi

Currently we have about 15 agreements that cover the whole business and we want to be able to condense them into one template. We want to be able to insert relevant clauses throughout the document so it is specific for the person and the area in which they work. For example, the hours of work clause could have 7 different variables depending on where the employee works in the business, so we want to see all variables and insert the correct one.

I welcome any suggestions, unfortunately I'm not great with writing code.

open Word and a box pops up saying "Microsoft Word 2010 cannot be opened..."

I got my laptop for Christmas last year and loaded Microsoft Office onto it. It has been working fine until today when I clicked to open Word and a box pops up saying "Microsoft Word 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel." Trying again did not help, and I don't know where to go in the Control Panel. What do I need to do?

I follow each step, using the mail merge wizard and also tried by following the steps on the mailing ribbon in both cases each step seems to work fine except the last one, Finish and Merge button doesn't respond. Can someone help?  Thanks Bob DeVries

Somewhere the instructions stated that multiple authors can only simultaneously edit a Word document using Word Desktop if all the authors are using Office 2010.

Is there any way that a team member using Word 2007 can contribute to the document? For example can this user simultaneously edit in the Word Web App, whilst the others are editing in Word 2010 desktop?

What happens when the the Office 2007 member does use the option to edit in Word desktop? Are other members locked out from editing the document at the same time? And what if other users were already busy editing the document?

I just discovered how to keep the hyperlinks in the TOC of our company templates when converting them to PDF. 

Highlight TOC;   right click, edit field;   click "table of content";   click " use hyperlink instead of page number".

is there a way of making this function a default?

Making every group of 3 paragraphs bold

I have a 2400-page Word document containing groups of paragraphs separated by an empty paragraph, like this:

TEXT^p

I need to add bold attribute only to groups containing 3 paragraphs. Is there a way to do it with Find & Replace or a macro? I tried with F&R but didn't make it.

I know how to set my line spacing, but when I highlight the four rows of address at the top of my letter and change the settings to single line spacing the lines I've already typed don't close up together as they should be

Troubleshooting for Mail Merge

I am trying to create labels for Avery #8160 which on Word 97 was Template 5160.  However, when I use that template on Word 2010 it creates four columns and the actual page only has 3.  What template number is correct? or how do I fix this error?

 I'm using Windows 7 on an HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF PC

32 bit OS

Hello

I'm facing an issue with the Office Preview. I have downloaded and installed the Danish proffing tools, but when I try to change the proofing language in Word it won't work. It stays at English.

I have to mark some text to be able to change the language. But even if I do this, it won't change for the entire document.

What can I do?

copy/paste envelopes into main doc

I have created envelopes (in a separate doc) and want to copy/paste them into my main document, which consists of a couple of letters. The problem is that when I do this, the letter that is immediately preceding the pasted part then splits itself horizontally into 3 pieces--it's as though the letter turns into 3 envelopes. How do I fix this? I'm not understanding why the copy/paste is causing this.

I have reinstalled my printer drivers (hp deskjet 3740) reinstalled my ms word 2002...under windows XP...Dell computer...this started 10-25-12...

I restored system to 10-20-12...I removed an autoupdate dated 10-25-12...deleted the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/11.0/Word in registry...all to no help...anybody got any suggestions,please...

Office 2010: Printing in color

We have several company word documents that were created in Word 2003. Now we have word 2010 and the colors are off when we print. If we open the document in 2003 and print the colors of the document are fine. If we print the same doc from 2010, all of the colors are much much darker. Is there a setting in 2010 to fix this?

I am using the Avery 5395 labels.  It works great until I get ready to print.  In Word on the bottom left of the screen it shows that there are 342 pages.  I only want to print pages 50-82 but it will not let me.  When I scroll down on the right side of the screen (Left clicking the mouse and pulling down) it only shows Page 1.  Can this be fixed?  When I try to print just the first page it prints all 342 pages.  Please help!
