Exchange Queues not Emptying

Posted: 16 Apr 2007 12:58 PM PDT

I just counted 21 queues that have unsent messages in them. I am totally
frustrated. What earthly good is Exchange Server if it will not send stuff
out??? I cannot be checking every day to see what queues are clogged up.
And I do not know how to unclog them. Any pointers would be GREATLY
apprecaited.

ADUC and SMTP

Posted: 16 Apr 2007 10:52 AM PDT

I read that alright -

What I have noticed is the following -

On out local lan - we have 2 domains controllers - GC and the mail server.

On either on the DC's if we make any Exchange modification to the user
account in ADUC we get this message.

However on the mail server itself we do not have this problem.

Still investigating why...

Restarted services, and all the servers ..

Removed latest hot fixes on the last DC.

Reinstalled the exchange tools + service pack for exchange on the DC too...

Configuring POP3 for External Users

Chaplain Doug <microsoft.com> wrote:

OK - but you should look into the alternatives and try them out. Much
better. Exchange is way overkill for a POP server and you can't
maintain/manage their mail data at all this way (nor can they use any of the
collaboration features in the product).

Nothing - check your firewall. If it's working from the inside, sounds like
port 110 isn't being forwarded. You might post back the exact error messages
when you try this from outside the firewall.

Email stuck in Drafts folder - Exchange 2007

Posted: 15 Apr 2007 05:07 PM PDT

Hi Lan,

Thanks for updating.

It is possible that some third party applications are causing this issue.
To isolate the influence of additional applications, please boot the
problematic client into a "Clean Boot" environment to see whether this
problem continues:

1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box, and then click OK.

2. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button.

3. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox,
and then click the "Disable All" button.

4. Click OK and restart your computer.

Please also help me collect Message Tracking log for further research:

To enable Message Tracking:

Open ESM, on the General tab in the server's Properties dialog box, select
the Enable message tracking check box. After the issue is reproduced,
please wait about 15 minutes and then go to the message tracking folder and
collect the message tracking log for us.

By default, the message tracking logs locate under the folder:C:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\servername.log

Please send the information to com with subject:
38772692- Email stuck in Drafts folder - Exchange 2007.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Hello you all,

this is my configuration:

I have 2 sites. Both sites were running on a 2000 platform (win2000 with exchange2000)
In one of the sites I have installed two new servers, which are running as DC. A third server is functioning as mailserver (Exchange2003).
The original DC (Win2000 with Exchange 2000) has been running until yesterday.
The second site has been left untouched (completely running on Win2000 platform).

Since yesterday, I turned off the 'old' server (2000 DC and Exchange 2000). Everything seemed to be working fine, untill I tried to create a new user this morning.
The creation of the user works perfectly, but when this same user tries to connect to his mailbox (through outlook 2003), the following error message
displays:
'The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list'.

When I relaunche the 'old' server --> DC and Exch2000), the user can connect to his mailbox without any problems.

Anyone any idea what can be the cause of this? The old server has to be turned off because he frequently has hardware errors (end of lifetime....)

Any advise is welcome.

Regards,

Q

Thank you for the link. It was not a permission, but one of the settings in

Cobweb.
Go to Cobweb.co.uk and get it from them. They neet your criteria.
They're even competetive.

It is McAfee. And it's coming out of the content filters. The message
should indicate wich filter generates the message. My suggestion would be
to either eliminate the content filters, or dial them back some. They
tend to block too much. I had users complain once that internal mail to
and from a particular user would get caught in the *porn* content filter.
Spent a day pouring through logs and mail messages without figuring it
out, until I saw the user's last name 'Carnall'. I took the filters out
right then.

SPAM Capability Comparisons

Posted: 09 Apr 2007 04:27 PM PDT

Richard,

I haven't met too many IT folk that would recommend a single point of
attack solution. We use a 3rd party device for spam and virus as well
as server/workstation based virus protection and IMF. This week, our
3rd party rejected over 35,000 messages (and we are a small school!) and
the IMF tried to take care of the ones that slipped through. I still
get some spam every day.

If we could manage it in the budget, I'd consider adding another 3rd
party device to try to reject more spam than I currently do.

Unable to make changes to the distribution list membership via Out

Posted: 09 Apr 2007 01:14 PM PDT

My very first ROSS back in 2000. The partition is read only unless on a
domain controller in the domain where the distribution list exists. You
could either put the list in the same domain as the user or hard code the
user's outlook to use a GC in the domain where the list exists.
