No, they don't keep it. The public screams enough about the info Microsoft
has about their systems. If they kept a record about who owns which version
of their software all hell would break loose.

I'm a bit confused about your original post. Just because a system crashes
doesn't mean you've lost Office. What exactly happened and what exactly did
you do? My answer changes depending on how you respond.

Install wants patch package

Posted: 10 Jul 2006 08:28 AM PDT

I think this may have something to do with Norton's which is unable to find
some files. It looks like a folder disappeared.

Thank you,

Computer trys to install Office w/ Frontpage

Posted: 10 Jul 2006 06:31 AM PDT

It may not be asking for FrontPage itself. What it's asking for is something
off the CD entitled MS Office with FrontPage. There were certain versions of
Office that came with FrontPage, and the installer would always refer to the
installation cd in this fashion whether or not it was doing anything with
installing FrontPage.

Hope this helps,

If you click Start is the shortcut New Office Document and Open Office
Document shown, should be towards the top of the Start menu?

In Explorer, under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10 locate
winword.exe and double click.
Word starts?

Installing 2003 Office Pro on different computer than it came with

Posted: 08 Jul 2006 11:05 AM PDT

And that is why you paid less for your copy of Office - you don't have the
right to transfer the license. To do that, you need to have a retail
version.

Did you have a 2 disk set? Publisher might be on the second disk. Office XP Pro
did not ship with Publisher, however the Special Edition did.

If you previously had Publisher on your computer, you should have the program.

The Small Business edition includes Publisher.

You know, I've purchased a few things on eBay (beads) but I'd never even
consider buying software there. Too many chances to get burned.

Office Beta 2 in Vista build 5456

Posted: 06 Jul 2006 06:30 AM PDT

Have just performed a clean install of Vista Build 5456 and Office 2007 Beta
2 now installs without a hitch. It seems the Upgrade option may still have a
few wrinkles - I guess you can't expect everything to be perfect when dealing
with beta releases

Actually, the EULA states:

"1.1 Installation and use. You may install a copy of the Software on three
personal computers or other devices in your household for non-commercial use
by people who reside in your household."

Count down on office trial

Posted: 03 Jul 2006 05:23 PM PDT

I would have thought that the OP would have been able to keep track of when
the time-bombed version would expire. That date would have been marked on my
calendar from day one so it wouldn't just go pfft! on me. Of course, I would
have ordered it from Amazon two weeks prior to that date at the latest.

Moving from Office 2003 trial to XP (2002) -- will .pst work?

Posted: 03 Jul 2006 05:16 PM PDT

Note that Office XP for Students and Teachers is only licensed
for installation on ONE computer. It sounds like you may already
be using the software on another computer, in which case you
cannot legally install the software on your new computer.

Office 2003 SP2 for MUI

Posted: 03 Jul 2006 12:48 AM PDT

Thanks your Links Bob, I dealed with this problem.

I used the conmmand line to make a mui admin point, then I integrated the sp2 for mui to mui.msi.

then I used the VPC to test the MUI.msi that is integrated, It didn't get the error, and Office is good.

Thanks again!
"Harry" <com> дÈëÏûÏ¢ÐÂÎÅ:phx.gbl...
I got the "Office 2003", "Office 2003 SP2", "Office 2003 MUI CHS" and "Office 2003 SP2 for MUI CHS".

Then, I integrated the "Office 2003 SP2" to the MSI File of "Office 2003 Pro".
I used the following command:
"msiexec /p MAINSP2ff.msp /a pro11.msi /qb"
I used the "pro11.msi" file to install the office 2003.

Then I need install the MUI for CHS. I also integrated the "SP2 For MUI CHS" to the MSI file of "MUI CHS".
I used the following command:
"msiexec /p MUISP2-CHSff.msp /a mui.msi /qb"

I used the "mui.msi" file to install the MUI CHS, then I got a error, following is the content of the error.
"error 1334. the file ipmain11.aw_2052 cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'MUI 2052.cab'. this could indicate a network error, an error reading from the cd-rom, or a problem this package."

I checked the MUI2052.cab, It's directory is same to the "MUI.msi" file.

I don't know the reason why I got the error, I hope somebody would like help me.

Thanks a lot firstly!
