Issues with re-insall of Office Beta 2

Posted: 16 Sep 2006 07:56 AM PDT

Bob,

I tried the latest suggestions. I was able to find the log files. I went
into the registry and removed all instances of 0ff1ce (keys ending in that
string). I rebooted after removing them and tried a reinstall, but I still
have the same failure result. The log file is fairly verbose, I have attached
the last 30 or so lines here, if that might help.

Toolbars and Settings on Word 2003

Posted: 16 Sep 2006 12:40 AM PDT

WIth further experimentation I see that most settings have been saved.
It's the compatibility settings that seem to be saved per file. I
didn't realize that some of the settings are saved specifically for
each file while the rest apply to all files (new and existing).

This solution worked for me on 2 of 3 computers. On the 3rd it does not
work. Deleting the normal.dotx template in the "Recent" directory does not
work either. Therefore, help still needed.

Lost Office XP disks

I have never heard of someone who was successful at getting their OEM
versions of Office replaced. Most of them have a 15 day warranty on
replacing software.

Patch Package defies solutions

Posted: 12 Sep 2006 12:13 PM PDT

Install Frontpage 2003 with a verbose logging switch and post it back to this
site

Place CD, don't autorun, if it does, then stop it.
Start | Run, cd drive letter:\setup.exe /L*V C:\frontpage.txt

Post the frontpage.txt to the site.

How long ago did you run the Windows installer cleanup utility?? If it was
lately, then you need to call into Support again - the installer cleanup
utility contains an engine that will break your windows installer cached
patches information. Ask for Pro level support instead of Personal support.

I can look at the log file if you can post it to this thread.

reinstall oem Office 2002 on a different computer

Hi, pattiWagen,

Office OEM software is tied to the machine it was installed on, so you may
not move it. Refer to the EULA (End User License Agreement) that you agreed
to in order to use the software.
