User Deleted in AD, can CRM licence be retrived?

Posted: 03 Nov 2004 02:40 AM PST

You can remove a license from a user by deleting the approriate row from
SystemUserLicenses. You first need to get the proper systeemuserid value from
the SystemUserBase table.

Doing this is not supported though. Make sure you have a good backup of your
database and know what you are doing when deleting the row.

Hello all,
I've made a mistake and deleted a user in AD before removing their licence
in MS CRM.

The user has no records associated with their account.

I want to retrieve their MS CRM licence but of course I get an error to the
effect that.

The selected object could not be found in both MS CRM and AD.

What is the situation....is there a workaround?

Does this mean that every time someone in our organisation makes this
mistake in the future our licence number will dwindle?

All the best,
Michael Mulvihill

CRM / Active Directory error

Posted: 02 Nov 2004 04:44 PM PST

Hi Mark,
When you make a role change/perform a security operation thru' CRM, the
CRM infrastructure handles a lot of things including updating the AD Groups,
CRM Tables in SQL Server that represent security information, logic for
handling child Business Units etc.

If you update AD groups directly, it will bypass all this and can cause
inconsistencies in the data needed by CRM.

I hope this was useful.

E-mail signatures

Click on Tools, then Options and the last tab shows "email Templates" - this
is where individual users can set up their own templates - basically an
empty template with just the signature details at the bottom.

Opportunity needs to display Account and Contact - Help!

Posted: 02 Nov 2004 11:37 AM PST

No, afraid it won't. Only 1 Map will be used when a record is created and in
this case, it will be the Contact -> Opportunity map. So the Account name field
isn't available to you at that time.

Thanks Matt, I was afraid of that. Maybe I can create a company field in
Contact and map the account name from Account to that field, and then have
that map when an opportunity is created? Not perfect but that might
work...?

Best way to access data outside MS-CRM

Posted: 02 Nov 2004 10:22 AM PST

Hi,

I've done some mapping to other SQL Servers and Access as well. Another
thing I'm working at the moment is to have ms crm data offline mode, since
our customers need to be able to work with an addon when offline and then
want to be able to update the offline data against the ms crm database. I'm
well aware that this is not supported, but the customer needs this.

Auto Create Accounts to imported Contacts

Not a one step process but will save you having to use the DMF or write a
web service.....
Bring them in as leads - perhaps even use the workflow engine to allocate
them to the respective sales/account personnel and then "convert" them to an
Account and associated Contact (i.e don't create an opportunity).

Activities Customization

Hi Rose,

I have copied this from another post:

Just type for the "My Activities view" the following URL in your Internet
Explorer and replace "crmserver" with the name of your server.

http://crmserver/tools/viewEditor/viewManager.aspx?id={00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001899}

For the other views you can use these IDs:
My Activities: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001899}
Activities Advanced Find View: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000000666100}
Activities Associated View: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001903}
All Activities: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001902}
Closed Activities: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001901}
My Activities: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001899}
Open Activities: {00000000-0000-0000-00AA-000010001900}

Error while trying to close Activities

Posted: 01 Nov 2004 01:28 PM PST

Hi Daniel.

We have reinstalled the SFO client and no success. Note - if we access CRM
via the web client we are able to close the Activities, most of the time....
I'm sure it is something related to the SFO client but I wish I knew where
to look.

Thx for the tip.
