Once I create subdomain, how to I setup CRm database?
Do I have to take the instance of databases?
Is it required another CRM license to install?

Thanks for replying.

I have installed all of the updates, including the one for XP/SP2 on the
client laptop and on the CRM server (Win2003). Yes...I have a printer
installed on the laptop and am able to print office documents from it without
problem.

data out?
I was going to actually mention Scribe if you were into MSCRM, however I
doubt they do an adapter for Maximizer.
We also use a product called Inaport but thats NOT specific to maximiser
either.
IE I am all out of advice, sorry - but recommend you talk to a Maximiser
specialist/ng.

Indeed, I might recommend you rethink the applicatoin you want to move to,
but I'm bound to say that aren't I!

Chris,

Mutli-profile installs of SFO are not supported. MSDE is a part of it, but
there are also registry settings that are machine specific that would casue
problems.

Correct. The conflict_* tables are there to support the SQL replication
processing. You will notice they are all flagged as "System" vs. "User" tables
in Enterprie Manager.

A slight clarification on the "last update" comment. It's actually the "last
synched" update that wins. So given the following timeline:
- sales rep updates an Account while offline at 11:00
- someone else updates the Account via the web browser at 11:30.
- sales rep goes back online at 12:00.

The sales reps updates will override the update made by the other user.
However, updates are field level, so this will only be a problem if both users
update the same field (ie. Name).

If support gave you the tool to check the AD/SQL synch, then they should be able
to help you figure out how to fix the discrepencies it found.

but other than reporting this it did not fix it. We have tried removing the
roles from the user through the ad and then adding them through the crm web
client still he gets the access denied error message. I am hoping this
security descriptor tool will work.

If you use the SFO client to send the message, then it could be tracked. If you
just send it via regular Outlook, it will not be associated with the Contact.

Changing the field back should have fixed this. Which field did you update?
Was it the IsDisabled column?

When you disable a BU that's about all that it updates is that column, so if
that's all that changed, this should have fixed it. Do you have a lot of daa in
the database? If not, then you might want to consider starting from scratch.

Yes it is. You can edit the file and remove fields if you choose. Just realize
that this may cause problems when you import if you have done something wrong.
If a field is being used on a form, then just removing the field from the list
of custom attributes would result in an error.

Problem printing Custom Crystal Report

Thanks for responding to my question.

My CRM server is Win2003, my DC is Win2000, and we are running Exchange 2003
on Win2003. SQL Server is running on my CRM server.

Over the weekend I discovered that when I launch the same custom report from
a toolbar button, it works perfectly...print and export are fine.

It is only when the report is launched from a button on the navbar that
menu/buttons stop working.

The behavior is the same inside or outside our firewall.

It is not possible to Delete a CRM user - this is a design feature.
The process would be to:
1. Revoke the users license (so you can reuse it for someone else).
2. Reassign all records to another user (if required)
3. Disable the user.

I checked the registry and find that crm connects to Exchange server with
Http (80)
I found that it fails because we forced to access Exchange server default
web site over https for OWA. we corrected it and it works now. thanks

I have been trying to gather more information about the problems caused on
Crystal Reports by running CRM on WS2003 while the domain controller is on
W2K Server, but haven't really found anything... and the reports are not
showing yet.

I solved it: restarting the CRM server did the trick. Perhaps the following
description might help somebody else.

Our SQL Server database for CRM is located on another server that was
restarted yesterday. It is after this, that the problem occured.

I checked the Application Event Log of the CRM server and I found events of
the following type:
Event Source: MSCRMDeletionService
Description: Error: Can't connect to metabase.

Later these events occured:
Event Source: Crystal_CrystalAPS
Description: APS is unstable, shutting down immediately. Reason: Database
access error. Reason [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link
failure. ODBC error:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link

Even later, these occured:
Event Source: Crystal_cacheserver
Description: Unable to connect to cluster @VENUS.OMEGAPOINT.SE to retrieve
updated APS member list. Logon can not continue.

It turns out that Crystal Reports has a service named "Crystal APS" that
"provides scheduling, security and system management services".

I restarted this service and tried again. The user interface then warned me
that we had ran out of Crystal Report licenses (which is false, we DO have
licenses).

Since restarting the service at least changed the error message, I presumed
that it had something to do with the problem. Perhaps CRM needs to be
restarted completely to be correctly initialized, I thought. So I restarted
the CRM server and yes, it took away the problem.

Anyone using CRM addons to model relationships?

Hi Chris,

If you get that error from OSQL -E (the -E tells it to use the current users
windows authentication) then the problem is communication to the SQL Server
(also remember that the instance is important if not on the default for the
server, so OSQL -E -S Server_name\Instance_name).

Run c:\WINDOWS\system32\cliconfg.exe to check that the default connection is
TCP/IP (which is should be set to by the MSDE installation). If you try to
reset the default to Named Pipes, does it now work? If so, you probably
have a DNS issue.

There is no programatic interface to creating fields within CRM other than
Deployment Manager. There's more to it than just creating the DB fields, there
is also a lot of metabase data and objects that are updated at the same time.

CRM automatically based on the input from MS Acces - as they are both
Microsoft Products and both handle the same database feelds structure (sort

So if this is possible (whit a add-on) it would make it a lot easyer

Restoring Server - Pulling up CRM

Even so, I do not like relying on this backup approach. A safer backup approach
is to use the Database Maintenance Plans in Enterprie Manager to schedule
regular backups of the database and logs to the file system. Then, you know you
have a file that NTBACKUP can backup/restore w/o any problems. It is more
reliable and gives you more control over your backup options (not to mention
allowing you toschedule DB maintenance).
